StarBrite Dental is well-known for it’s high quality dentistry and excellent customer service. We strive to deliver the best possible service. This is one of the reasons our office is not in network with any insurances and is entirely fee-for-service. As a courtesy we will work with you to maximize your insurance benefits, and submit all necessary claims removing the hassles of insurance paperwork.

Our office is a comprehensive dental practice offering General & Cosmetic Family Dentistry such as professional hygiene appointments, perio treatments, filings, crowns, bridges, bondings, veneers & Invisalign. Dr. Maryam S.

Business Owner

Dr. Maryam Seifi received her B.S. in Biology from the University of Maryland, College Park in 1986. She went on to receive her Doctorate of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Maryland, Baltimore in 1990.

While attending the University of MD, Dr. Seifi worked as the Lead Dental Assistant at Columbia Dental Center and the University of MD Dental Lab Technician. She also served as a University of MD Dental School Admissions Board Member, was an Honorary Admission to the Prosthodontics and Cosmetic Clerkship and served as the President of the American Women Dental Association.

Dr. Seifi purchased and opened her private practice in 1991 and was Associate to Dr. Lou in Maryland from 1994 – 1995.

Besides dentistry, Dr. Seifi supports the Foundation for a Drug Free World, Foster Kids Screening for Montgomery County, Maryland Special Olympics, dental screenings on Special Olympic Athletes and the American Cancer Society. She is a member of the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry.

Dr. Seifi and her team have been top rate amazing service!!! I have been going to them when they first opened up in 2008 and they have only turned into a dentistry I have recommended to my ENTIRE FAMILY (who are patients by the way).
Beautiful waiting room, friendly staff to greet you, snacks, and then a relaxing clean area when you’re getting your teeth cleaned. Everybody works as a team, too rate professional, accommodating various payment plans and methods, and making sure you walk out smiling… literally!!!
If you need a new dentist in the DMV area, look no further! This is where you need to be!

I have been meaning to write this review for awhile. First of all, be warned they do not take insurance. They will tell you that they will send in paperwork to your insurance so you will get reimbursed, but here is the kicker. They charge much more than your insurance «allowable amount» so you’ll end up with a huge bill (I’m still paying off the bill for my root canal a year or so later) on top of what your insurance covers. Also, this office has the worst bedside manner ever. I went in at the recommendation of a friend, and specifically told them I had anxiety about going to the dentist. Well, on my second visit, when I was about to leave after having a bad reaction to the anesthetic and feeling very anxious, they actually played a prank on me. I’ve never had such an unprofessional experience at the dentist, and I made a decision never to go back here. Kind of recently, I emailed trying to get some information about my medical record, and they were very unprofessional over email, and did not give me the info I needed. I will never go back here, and I recommend no one else does either.

I went to StarBrite about a year ago and am extremely sorry that I did. My initial reason for going was that I found a piece of my tooth in a glass of water late at night and freaked out. I immediately sought emergency dental care and StarBrite is conveniently open ²⁴⁄₇. I agree with all of the comments about the office’s cleanliness, responsiveness and professionalism, which is why I was so trusting. I am writing this review in the hopes that other people who might be as naïve as I am do not get screwed over like I did.
Some backstory: My teeth have never been great. I’ve had several fillings over the years, but never needed anything major. My mouth had been bothering me for a little while, so I was already a bit concerned. However, within minutes of being in the dental chair my «little concern» turned into a grave and present danger. I was told that I would need approximately a million fillings and crowns, and that this process had to start immediately (as in within the hour). The consequences for waiting were a lost tooth, a terrible infection, and a nuclear war the likes of which this world has never seen.
They took me to the office where I was presented with my X-rays and a rendering of my teeth with red and blue marks all around to indicate all of my incredibly serious mouth issues. Being relatively young, someone who has quite a bit of anxiety, and already concerned about my mouth, I accepted everything they told me at face value. I went along with their treatment program, which quite literally cost me an arm and a leg (thousands of $$$). They put me on a payment plan immediately, were extremely patient with me, and very nice (no complaints there).
I am writing this review because I had a friend of mine (a dentist in another state) take a look at my X-rays. He told me he looked at them along with his staff, and that I didn’t need a quarter of the dental work I received, and paid 5x more than I should have. Apparently, I am not the only one with this experience. The Über driver who took me home after my last appointment was quoted an extravagant rate for procedures no other dentist thought he needed.
I am 100% responsible for my decision. I went along with the treatment plan, I paid the money and didn’t do my due diligence. My warning to others is to get a second opinion before you move forward with StarBrite. Based on the other comments on this page, my experience seems to be rather common.

I had the worst experience at this dental office which is more about the money than the care of their patients. First, the $ 150 for digital exams are highway robbery-they are trying to cover their overhead costs through this. Second, I found a great dentist who recommended to try and get the x-rays from Star brite. When, I called Celine –who is better at keeping her mouth shut had a nasty attitude every step of the way and didnt want to tell me which x-rays I was actually receiving. I will never recommend this place to anyone!!! Stay away!!!

This office is awesome!!! I am currently doing Invisalign. The office staff are extremely friendly, and the pricing is absolutely fair.
Dr. Seifi is amazing, she explains everything in a way that is easily assimilated, and she really cares about my dental health.
I have a newborn so sometimes I have scheduling issues, and Heidy really works with me to make it to my appointments.
The other doctors I have worked with are also very professional and really make sure I am comforted.
This is literally the best dentist I have ever been to, which is why I commute 30 – 45 minutes to see her. It is worth the travel.

I am writing a revision to my review of Starbrite Dental. I want to thank StarBrite for their patience, diligence and professionalism in our last encounter — they were outstanding and fully deserve my forgiveness and apologies.
I recently went to see Dr. Seifi because my bridge (the same one I wrote about) had a visible chip in the front tooth — one week before my engagement pictures. This was my first time contacting Starbrite after my less than flattering review. The office was able to see me the next day and proceeded to fix the chip. Dr. Seifie gave me a temporary solution so that I could be picture-perfect for my engagement shoot, and immediately started the process of replacing my bridge. Similar to my initial visits with the doctor, she was professional, diligent, respectful and a perfectionist — I’ve never denied Dr. Seife was wonderful at her craft. She fixed my bridge free of cost and after my last visit invited me to her office for a chat to clear the air. I appreciate the time taken to talk with me, she didn’t have to, she could have fixed me up and sent me packing. Instead she was honest, open, polite and genuine. She thanked me for my referral (I referred my finance to Starbrite — as I said, they are good at their craft), and we came to an understanding and mutual respect for one another. Thank you Dr. Seifi! I misjudged you and I apologize.
Update: There is a new receptionist and she is outstanding — Very personable, attentive and friendly!

I have only been there once which was I think almost a year ago. They were offering free first exam and that was the reason I went there. I was actually interested in getting my teeth fixed as well if the price was in reasonable range. But it was not.
The place was really clean and welcoming. Dr Seifi was also very nice to us, during the examination and However, I think way too many people are working there and that is increasing the costs a lot. In most other dentists I have been to there are only one or two people that take care about everything but here they even have a person for sending out advertisements.
In that visit they did a panoramic X ray for diagnosis and there started the problem. I was not aware of the fact that panoramic X ray is not good for screening purposes and it misses a lot of the cavities. You can just check webMD or a similar website and there you will come across this basic information. What it says is that panoramic is good for seeing the sinuses and the orientation of the wisdom teeth but bite wing or periapical should be done for detecting the cavities. (I am writing this here so that if someone from their office sees this, they may reconsider their practice)
What in the end happened was that she diagnosed one big cavity that I was already complaining but since the price was high for the treatment and they did not accept the insurance I had, I went to another dentist to get a second opinion Starbrite did not give me the panoramic x ray (they asked for $ 150 for a digital copy which I declined).
That second dentist figured out that I had 3 more cavities and one was (although not symptomatic) really big (Thanks to bite wing film) They also gave me the films for free if I wanted a second opinion and since there was a difference between these two diagnoses I went to a third dentist which confirmed the extra cavities. With a 10 dollar/month plan the visit to the other dentist including free X rays, cleaning and examination costed me only $ 15. Dr, Seifi’s visit was free but not including cleaning or free X rays at all.
After my treatment was done, I infromed starbrite about that I am not planning to continue with them and they took a note of my decision somewhere. However they still keep sending me mails and emails almost weekly saying that my treatment plan is waiting and I should urgently schedule an appointment for that, which is nothing but waste of paper.
This place may be good for the cosmetic stuff they do and I cannot blame them for the high prices or their insurance policy. But they did miss the basics in my case. They should really revise their screening methods or if that was done because I came as a free patient and they use different methods for paid customers, then they should stop offering the free screening because it may be misleading for people

I was immediately impressed by their office and how they handled their new patients with a full exam, X-ray and consult with their doctor– Dr Seifi. It was all very smooth, pleasant and professional. I was able to get my services done a few days later, and it was great!

All these five star reviews are probably done by the staff or friends — otherwise almost everyone knows how horrible Maryam Seifi is. Do a court search on her name and see what comes up. I wish I could give her zero star:
I went to see her ten years ago in 2004 for just a regular cleaning. She did the cleaning but then told me that I had some major issues with my teeth that «must be corrected right now or you’ll eventually lose your teeth». I was shocked. Had never had any problems with my teeth before and was surprised and scared. Didn’t know people who supposedly have professional licenses could lie to patients. She showed me a sheet of how my insurance will pay about 80% to 90% so being naïve I was back then, I agreed and she did her work. The work was billed to my insurance for about $ 800. My insurance denied the charges and said that I did not need any of the works she had done on me. I called my insurance company and asked them for details. Insurance said that she was just trying to make money off of me because she had sent over all my records and that I didn’t have any problem to begin with. I was mad and called her office and told Shawn, her husband or boyfriend/office manager back then to give me a copy of my medical record. He refused and told me not to worry about it and that He would take care of it. I told him that I would not pay them for services If I didn’t need them. Months later I received a letter from the court that Maryam Seifi wanted to take the matter to court. Maryam Seifi did not come to court but sent her daughter instead and her attorney. The court said that I should pay her regardless of whether the services were needed or not since she had done the work. The judge said the fact that She performed services that were unnecessary is another matter that I could talk to an attorney about. I told the judge that they had refused to provide me my medical record. The judge ordered them to give me a copy and they provided me a copy then. I took the record to two more dentist and they confirmed that Maryam Seifi had lied to me and that I did not needed any of the work she had done. Being a student back then, I couldn’t afford to hire an attorney so I let her go. I NEVER went back to her again (they lost a patient for life! And I’ve told everyone in MD area about her) and I hope people open their eyes and get to know this thief before they step into her office!

I made an appointment w/Starbrite Dental after I moved to the area and was looking for a new Dentist. I chose Dr. Seifi because she was close to my house. I had decided to try a woman because I wanted someone more gentle than the Dentists I’d had in the past. Boy am I glad I made that decision. I finally experienced what it was like to leave the Dentist w/out my mouth hurting afterwards. She was knowledgeable, professional and very gentle. She explained everything to me so I could understand what was happening in my mouth and what was needed to make it completely healthy. To date I’ve recommended her to over 30 of my co-workers.

I have been going to Maryam S Seifi for about 4 years. The reason I have been going here for so long is because how professional and warm the staff is. Doctor Seifi staff has given me the best advise for someone with my mouth. Example crowding, underbite, crown, two root canals and teeth in all different places. I recently moved to Ashburn, Va. And I love this office so much that I drive 45 mins away just to get the quality of care that I get here. I would have to say that the prices are a little high but in the long run they are really worth it. Currently I noticed that they have gone threw a change in the staff and from experience it’s hard to find great people to fill the shoes of her last staff. Please don’t rule this dentist office out everyone deserves a second chance. If you unhappy with your service talk to doctor Seifi or the head of her staff and I am very sure she will make it right. And for those who are reading this one complaint a year is not bad considering how many patients she sees in a week. And please remember to fill out her survey threw email so that they can be better ! Even though I feel there pretty close to that!

I’d have to agree with Andrea’s review from 2012 on this one. My husband and I just relocated from NYC where I had a WONDERFUL dentist that I visited regularly. I am new the neighborhood so I was asking my coworkers if they could recommend someone — that is originally how I heard about Dr. Seifi.
So, I went ahead and set up a 6pm appointment to go for a free consultation and X-rays after work. I showed up at 5:50pm to a crowded waiting room and a rude receptionist. When I approached the counter she didn’t bother to say hello, so I went ahead and introduced myself and let her know I was here for my appointment. She handed me paperwork and I sat down to fill it out. After finishing filling out the forms I continued to sit, and sit and sit. Around 6:20pm I was starting to get annoyed — I worked a 10 hour day and sitting in a waiting room is the last thing I wanted to do. Finally around 6:30 I approached the desk to the same rude woman and asked her how much longer it would be – again, she was unresponsive and not particularly friendly. Finally around 6:40 she comes out and tells me it was going to be another 20 minutes. So, yes AN HOUR LATE. I decided not to wait and left the appointment really pissed off.
I gave this review 2 stars ONLY because a guy named Sean called me back and was apologetic. He invited me back for another appointment, but after an experience like this — I’ll look elsewhere, thanks. What annoyed me, is if your going to make your clients wait, at least make the waiting room decent. It was situated RIGHT next to the door, was cold, and uninviting. They should also think about hiring a receptionist who has a personality, and not overbooking the Dentist so that the appointments actually start on time.

Set up a free consultation and was not able to make it, I now have someone at that office blowing up my phone at different times of the day every day since last Friday! I have absolutely NO interest in going to this office if I am going to be phone stalked until I decide to come in. Dr. Seifi is a pleasure to work with! I couldn’t ask for a better dentist. I first went to her when I needed an emergency appointment for a root canal and have been going there ever since. I am no longer scared of the dentist. Everyone in this office, including the receptionists, are very welcoming. It’s not the environment you’d expect at a dentist’s office.
The lady who cleans my teeth is very nice but it can be very painful. While this is one of the main reasons I hate the dentist, I suck it up because I know she’s doing an excellent, thorough job. Since I started going here and following her advice, my gums and bleeding have improved dramatically, my tooth-bone density has improved, and I haven’t had any cavities.
This office has a policy where you pay the entire cost up-front and get reimbursed later by insurance. I understand the reasons for this and while it can be a pain, they are good about submitting the claims to insurance in a timely manner. They also accept all major credit cards which makes it easier (especially for the Amex users out there).
One downside– the office is usually overbooked, especially on the weekends. There have been two instances where I had to wait over an hour. I once had a 4 hour wait at my old dentist so I can’t really complain…

I never thought I’d review a dentist but Dr. Seifi Maryam, DDS won me over as a fan! Her office has free parking. Her staff is knowledgeable & friendly. She has comfortable chairs in the waiting room. If you get there early, learn more about dental health from the programs on the tube. Need a specialist? She has a full team working out of the office. [No more referrals!]
Not sure if you need a dentist? Do bugs keep flying in your month to hide in your cavities. Do people point to your teeth and say, «That’s the shade of yellow paint I’m looking for!» Do you keep accidentally catching baseballs with your month instead of the glove. If you asked your friends to rate your smile from 1 to 10, would anyone say, «Can I use a negative number?» Any reason you need a dentist, this is the place to go!
Now I pity the fool who waits to long to get their teeth looked at (tooth pain is unbelievable!) But if that’s you, call double quick! Someone is available to take the call 24-hours a day (even on Sundays!)
Need more convincing? There’s a shopping center across the street from the office. You can pick up your medicine from Giant and your coffee from Starbucks! You can’t beat that! Her office is called StarBrite Dental. Make an appointment today!
