Dr. Janowitz’s office is impressively well organized. They always take me back at the exact time of my appointment. Unheard of, right? Dr. Janowitz has a great sense of humor and yet his professional work is no-​nonsense. His staff gives very thorough cleanings. They are also state-​of-​the-​art, with each treatment room equipped with computers where they update your chart in real time. Wouldn’t think of going anywhere else!

I went to Dr. Janowitz in May 26, 2015 because he is conveniently located to where I live. I wanted to have a very old, large silver filling (from childhood) that was in the back surface of a front tooth replaced with a white filling. The old silver filling was turning the enamel of my tooth dark. I wanted this done for cosmetic reasons and he agreed that it should be done.
Although I consider my self to have a very low tolerance for pain, I never had ANY discomfort during or after the procedure.
He did a nice job and the new filling looked great. Unfortunately within a few days that tooth broke off. I did not blame Dr. Janowitz for this since the filling was large and I knew it might break. I was then told to have a root canal and he would make me a crown.
He did the crown prep and put on a temporary crown while he made the permanent one. I had the root canal done. The temporary crown was far from good looking, but I dealt with it. I hoped that the permanent crown would look much better than his temporary one did. I had the root canal done right away by a root canal specialist.
When in June Dr. Janowitz placed the permanent crown on my tooth I was surprised that this crown was almost as unattractive, bulky, and uncomfortable as the temporary one was. In fact I am aware of it in my mouth, even though I have had it in for 5 months.
I found out that Dr. Janowitz does not take criticism well and therefore I prefer to live with this crown rather than go back to him. For that reason I would not recommend this dentist. He seemed pleasant and nice enough when I first went to him, but then he was unfriendly and seemed disinterested in me as a patient.
I asked around and was given names of dentists and I found one that had a delightful chair side manner. He painlessly removed 3 more very old, large silver fillings from childhood that were also showing through the enamel of the teeth and causing discoloration. I had them removed and replaced with white fillings which has made an excellent cosmetic improvement in my smile.
I am so glad I chose to do this with someone OTHER THAN Dr. Janowitz because I think there was an excellent chance that if I had these 3 fillings removed and replaced by HIM these teeth also would have ended up fracturing and needing root canals, and crowns.
I will close by saying that there are some great dentists in the Potomac, Rockville, Gaithersburg area, that are close where I live. I had no trouble finding one that I am thrilled with and so glad I did. He is very skilled and very nice. Why stay with a dentist that I don’t like when I can be with one who I like and who can make me laugh. How many people can say they laugh during dental work?

I recently became a patient of Dr. Janowitz in January 2015, after I was referred to his office by a highly respected endo, who did a root canal on one of my teeth. After the root canal, Dr. Janowitz had to build up my tooth, before making and placing a permanent cap on top. He did an excellent job. Dr. Janowitz and his staff are very professional and the office is immaculate.
After my cap was completed. I had an appointment to have my teeth cleaned by one his dental hygienists, Paula, who did a very thorough cleaning of my teeth. She also gave me some great new tips on brushing, flossing and tongue scraping, which I never knew would make such a difference. Dr. Janowitz then did a thorough exam, which included checking my teeth, tongue and neck for any possible abnormalities. Yesterday, I had three old fillings that were cracked, replaced with a composite material. The new fillings match the color of my teeth perfectly. I have one more tooth to work on and then I can move forward with a healthy mouth and routine visits.
I would highly recommend Dr. Janowitz and his office.

Dr. Janowitz and his staff understand anxiety and pain management better than many other doctors. He practices preventive care, which has undoubtedly saved me from at least one broken tooth. In the 25 years that I’ve been a patient, I’ve had 2 urgent appointments; both times, I was seen within a very short time, and had his full attention until the matter was resolved (in one case, that meant lining up a specialist who would see me immediately). Sandy has been cleaning my teeth for most of these years; she does so with professionalism and personality. Indeed, many on the staff have been with Dr. Janowitz for decades; that says a lot about the office. Several years ago, he had his office remodeled, including some very high-​end equipment, so the surroundings measure up to the quality of care. And here’s a very small thing; I get a text message to remind me of an upcoming visit; some of us forget these things if not reminded…

My visit yesterday for a teeth-​cleaning with Paula was excellent as always. I was even about 15 minutes late (owing to road work) and was still taken very courteously… as always (or whenever road work has created travel delays).
Thanks as usual for a very pleasant visit (and to a dentist’s office, yet!).

I have gone to this office for 20 years. They are efficient, professional, on time. When I have had an emergency they fit me in quickly. Overall, extremely satisfied with care.

Dr J and his group of long-​term staff are the best. Our family has been using their practice for over twenty years.

My wife and I have been patients for more than 25 years; my wife being a much better patient than I. In that period, we have had a range of procedures completed, always being satisfied with the result. On those rare occasions when an adjustment is needed, Dr. J and staff have always been most responsive.
As you know there are many dentists in the area that are qualified; with some of them being less expensive than Dr. J. That said, I would suggest that the quality of care shown by the staff and Dr. J. needs to be factored into any relevant discussion on selecting a dentist. Further, Dr. J’s staff is never too busy to accommodate a last minute need… and does it in a manner that makes the patient feel comfortable vs. an inconvenience for the staff.
I would also share that I have no affinity for dental procedures and therefore procrastinate. The practice is never judgmental or critical, but rather accepts me in a very welcoming manner, which makes the process much less stressful.
I/​we recommend Dr. Janowitz without hesitation. I am confident that your experience will be positive and the results satisfying. I would suggest that his ranking in Bethesda Magazine would aso support our assessment.

Dr. Janowitz and his team are super awesome. I have been going there since 1997 (at least) and I have never once felt uneasy, uncomfortable or unsatisfied. Seriously, the women who work at the desk are warm, friendly, good at their job and happy to help you schedule appointments, they send payment info to insurence company and there has never been an issue with that, are also happy to work with special accomadations. Staff who do cleanings and assist Dr. Janowitz with more complicated procedures are knowledgeable, have helped me to understand any questions I have had regarding my dental/​oral health and the quality of service provided is excellent. They make the visits feel like you’re having lunch and catching up with an old friend, except instead of lunch on of you is leaned back in a chair with their mouth open and the other is professionally cleaning the teeth of the first and occassionally plugs regular flossing ;) Dr. J himself is the best there ever was. He’s smart, efficient and works with you to help you understand what the best options are in any given predicament. But not in a trying to sell you things you don’t need way, please don’t hear what I’m not saying! He is also rather humorous. All in all the thing that truly sets these people apart is that they care not just about your oral hygine and flossing habbits but about you as an entire human being. You’re more than a set of teeth and a business transaction with Dr. Janowitz and his wonderful team.

Dr. Janowitz has been treating my family for about 15 years. His level of professionalism and concern for his patients surpasses any medical professional I have come in contact with. Furthermore his office is immaculate and his staff are exceptional. I highly recommend Dr. Janowitz.

I have been going to this dentist for about 4 years. I recently had a cleaning in which part of the metal instrument broke off and I swallowed it! As a result, Dr. Janowitz got me an appointment with a gastroenterologist, but he never inquired as to my well being or the outcome of my the several procedures, cost or pain I incurred. I am extremely disappointed in his lack of porfessionalism and concern. And to top it off, his office charged me for the cleaning!
