Yes my glasses are fixed which I’m eternally grateful but for the price I paid surely they could have been wiped clean. I’m happy to pay the few cents for the use of the wipe. I also forgot to ask if they could replace the two nose cushions when I dropped it off. When you looked at my glasses did you not notice they need to be replaced. Yes I did forget to ask and yes if another cost I would have paid. Overall happy to have my specs back but I think the overall experience could have been a bigger wow! For a little extra attention. Would I go back or refer? Absolutely but I’ll be a lot more detailed and specific of all my requirements otherwise you get what you get and you don’t get upset!

Stopped in here to have the nose pads replaced on my glasses — one broke off completely and the other was hard, brittle, and cracking. Service was excellent and INCREDIBLY fast. $ 20 and I was out the door in minutes! I’ll bring in my other pair next time I’m in the area.

Thank you so much for fixing my boyfriend’s glasses after I accidentally put them through the washer machine. They were mixed in with the sheets when I did laundry and looked pretty rough when the spin cycle was over.
Now, they look good as new and you can’t even tell that they were ever repaired. Good as new in 30 mins! Hopefully we won’t have another broken glasses incident, but if we do, we know where to go.

My rather old frames needed to have new nose pads. My optician said they didn’t carry the proper type any more, so I’d have to go to a specialist. I bought the Unilocal coupon, $ 10 for $ 20 of service, which was accepted with no question. I had another pair of glasses where the holders for the nose pads had been squeezed, so that the pads could not be replaced. That pair required soldering of a new post to hold the new nose pads. I skipped the ‘same day’ service and picked them up the next day. They are perfectly restored. I couldn’t believe they’d be ready on time because there was such a steady stream of people coming in for service. I would definitely go back there if I needed eyeglass repairs.

I’ve had two pair of eyeglasses repaired here. Both times they did a good job, but it seems pricey. Most recently, I took in a pair after I lost the spring. I said, «I hope this isn’t a complicated repair — nothing broke. It’s just missing the spring.» He told me that it was indeed a difficult repair, then fixed it in 8 minutes. I realize that I’m paying for his expertise, but $ 70 ($ 65 plus $ 5 for a same-​day repair) seemed like a lot for 8 minutes of work. That would make his hourly rate more than $ 420 an hour, which would make even DC lawyers blush. So 4 stars for a good but high-​priced service.

Somewhat of a crafty wizard tucked in his lair, sipping absinthe and long forgotten spirits as he chants and utters ancient sayings that apparently mend your glasses. I jest, nothing too magical here but the lifetime warranty on the part repaired and the quickness of the turnaround pushes it up there –what, might you ask, is the reason it didn’t get five stars? The soldering job was a bit on the messy side –getting the job done is great but wish the new soldering was cleaner. Ohh and for the love of your wallet, definitely remember to to purchase the Unilocal coupon $ 10 for $ 20 worth of work will come in handy, trust me here Still far cheaper than a new pair

My metal frame eyeglasses broke (on the bridge) and I was lucky to find this place nearby. The problem was solved in less than 30 minutes. My glasses are fixed and are as good as new for the cost of $ 80 ($ 65 soldering, $ 5 same day service fee, and $ 10 a pair of new nose pads).
This place is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

I’ve been here twice already for the same pair of glasses that I keep breaking. Both times they have been fixed the same man who literally works magic and brings my glasses back to life for such low prices. The first time my glasses were bent the wrong way and were fixed in less than 24 hours. The second time my puppy had gotten a hold of my glasses and bit a small piece of the leg off and it eventually broke in my purse. I know, I’m terrible at taking care of my glasses. Anyways, he was able to actually fix it under 2 hours and even shape the end that my puppy broke so that it won’t hurt me! He’s amazing at what he does! I’m clearly a lifetime customer! :)

I had a very good experience with this company when it came to having my girlfriends sunglasses fixed (yes they repair sunglasses too!) I initially brought the glasses in for the issue with the missing nose piece, however just by quickly glancing at the frame, he noticed they were bent (which cause the lens to pop out on a number of occasions) so I told him to go ahead and have it fixed. You have the option to wait, but I had other errands to run, so I just dropped it off and would pick them up at a later date. When I went to pick them up, they looked like a brand new pair. A++ very happy!

My daughter’s eyeglasses — plastic frames without spring temples — needed the metal hinge to be replaced & they were not under warranty. We looked up the hours & went to Frame Menders on Rockville Pike only to find it closed. We returned & were told that if we wanted the glasses back the same day we would need to pay extra, so we did. He was gruff and unpleasant.
We returned to pick up the glasses & discovered that the temple plastic melted in a spot right where the metal hinge was affixed. There was a deep depression of melted & distorted plastic on the temple piece. Also the hinge did not work — it was stationary and would not close — & was also burned & fragile. We complained but the owner/​operator/​repair person refused to acknowledge what was before his eyes. «No, the plastic is not melted» he stated. Well what about the hinge that won’t close, we asked. «Oh well, you just don’t close the hinge.» Not satisfactory repair work & the hinge broke within a week. He ruined a $ 700 pair of eyeglasses. We had to buy new ones! Back then it cost us $ 50 + the same day fee.
Don’t waste a dime there.

This is not recent review, maybe from about a year ago, but I got some frames repaired here and Frame Mender did a fabulous job in repairing them. They actually had a crack in them and when I picked them up, I couldn’t tell they were ever broken. You can’t go wrong using this eyeglass repair shop.

I broke the heck out of my favorite pair of glasses, and was just about positive that I’d need to get new glasses. After a quick search on Unilocal,I decided to give the Rockville location a shot. The fellow at the front counter is a bit of a character, but i guess 30+ years of fixing glasses would do that do just about anyone.
I’m still floored by how good the end result is. My co-​workers were unable to find one of the two cracks he repaired, and the only one after a close examination. With the Unilocal coupon, I paid $ 60 for the repair, which was more than a great deal.
The only downside is that the hours on the website don’t match the hours in reality. I called ahead to find out that these guys close at 4 instead of 6.

To sum it all up: fantastic. Got my precious frames mended alright! 65 bucks. Not bad bc they were in perfect condition once received. Im excited to have them back. Great customer service, beyond my expectations with the customer service aspect. I would definitely go again but my hope is not to be going anytime soon! I’m definitely being more cautious with my lil frames!

This is a great personable small business. Lost a screw, have a broken frame? Most of the time they can fix it on the spot, if not it is done in a day or two. Pretty reasonably priced also!

At the recommendation of the good people at the White Flint Mall LensCrafters, when I inquired about trying to repair my Versace frames, they recommended me to «The Frame Mender.» For $ 65, I was able to get my frames mended and though I didn’t need them same day, they do provide service «while you wait» as well. It’s a small little place, but I found that the guy working there really knew his stuff. IT’s definitely as advertised: people with great experience in fixing glasses, repairing broken frames and fair prices too. Would recommend to others.

This guy saved my hide. Thanks to my lovely 14-​month old child, my glasses had taken quite the pounding. And today they popped, right where the lens frame meets the arm. My glasses are a thin wire frame, so it’s not easy to fix (though I did try… see below). I’ve got terrible eye sight and no spare glasses, so I was in a very bad way. Luckily my wife found this guy thanks to a reference from an optometrist that uses the Frame Mender’s services.
We showed up 20 minutes before the place closed, and I had exacerbated the situation by trying to super glue the broken part, which held (for a little bit), but made a mess of things (excess glue, no longer a clean break). When I handed it to him, he was freaked out by the damage I had wrought. He said he didn’t think he could fix it before closing… But fixed it he did. Great repair job, my glasses fit properly for a change, and it’ll definitely hold until I get my new pair. Yeah, it was $ 70, but a lot of places would have charged me more for the soldering job he did. And he guarantees the work, which is nice.

Very happy customer! I dropped off a pair of Gucci sunglasses to be repaired; one of the nose pads broke off recently.
They were able to fix them in 20 minutes and the price was reasonable. I am happy with the end result and I will definitely go back in the event that I need another repair in the future.
An added bonus that they have three locations and they are open 7 days a week. (call for hours)

I went to my normal optometrist to replace the lenses on my prized frames when my prescription changed — and lo and behold, received a call back the next day: oh, sorry, we broke your frames irreparably.
Cutest pair of glasses I’ve ever worn — style (and brand) discontinued — what is a girl with a teeny tiny head to do? (This means I must wear children’s glasses — which are rarely cute on anyone who, well, isn’t a child. Believe me).
A friend recommended Frame Menders, she said she had her (also acrylic) frames fixed there, and you couldn’t even tell they’d ever been broken. I was dubious but gave them a call to see if the damage (a break in the middle of the right frame) seemed within their scope. They were friendly on the phone, said that fixing an acrylic frame was easy and no big deal, and said it’d be around $ 40 to fix.
I don’t regret bringing the frames to The Frame Mender… much.
Honestly, despite the guy at the counter’s assurance that it wasn’t the case, it sure does look like they just superglued the small crack in the frame. I’m fairly confident that I could have glued the crack to the same effect.
There are also smears of … a glue like substance… hmm… on the lens itself right near the spot they «mended». Maybe the fancy lasers they claimed to have used just melted the lens to a smear like appearance, fairly believable. It is rather annoying to have a spot that now permanently looks scratched or dirty.
Oh, and the actual price was $ 55, so for the difference alone between their quote and the actual cost — I could have thrown myself a wild superglue party.
I’m glad to have my frames back. I kind of wish I’d fought them for the not-​that-​impressive work and ridiculous price, but I’m over it.
I wouldn’t go there again, but the glasses are wearable, albeit worse for wear, and if i knew someone in a similar predicament — I’d probably send them here (but advise that they seriously fight for a more reasonable price, esp if the glasses look as craft projecty as mine do now).
