Best Mexican food in this city by far I’m a big fan of their breakfast not so much the lunch/Dinner the salsa is amazing!

Just left from my first visit. Took 30m to just order. Service was horrible. Food is good but not better than Chipotle.

I’ll start by saying the food is pretty consistently good. However, it took me 32 minutes and 47 seconds to get through that line. I timed it. What I ordered was an easy bowl. I think their menu may be too expansive for the assembly-line«order-and-fill» style. My bowl took seconds to make, while the order ahead of me was more complicated and I had to wait for their order to be made before I could pay for mine. And even then, my order somehow ended up in someone else’s To-Go bag. Chiloso is not a particularly unique chain; these assembly line Mexican bistros are becoming a dime a dozen these days. Chipotle and Freedbirds are within five miles. I think they could set themselves apart by streamlining their process: Let short orders pay and get out of the line, and maybe have a person dedicated to just refilling bins(I didn’t get cilantro because the bin was almost empty and she«would have to go to the back and get more», taking her out of the line. Is it chopped already in a bin? Or does she have to wash it, then chop it? No, thanks, I’ll pass). The difference, for me, between two stars and three is a recommendation or not. In this case, I just wouldn’t recommend it. There is too much competition out there for me to choose to wait in that line of chaos.

The Grilled Avocados are simple but really good. My wife really likes the steak bowl with rice and beans. We prefer Chiloso over the other quick serve places like Chipotle, Moe’s and FreeBirds. Stays Busy

If you want mediocre Mexican food come here. I’ve had better food at Oscar Delta a Mexican restaurant in downtown Rockwall.

The food is excellent, and we love the spicy ranch sauce! The price is great; very good value. The only problem is getting the food; two choices —(a)Stand in a really long line, and WAIT… or(b) order online and they will mess up your order. We normally stand in the frustratingly long line, but today we ordered ‘to-go.’ Unfortunately, they gave us someone else’s food — and we didn’t discover it until after returning home. When my wife took the incorrect order back, the cashier simply tried to hand her the old(now cold) order with our name on it. No apology. Wow. Maybe there was a language/cultural barrier, since the cashier barely spoke English — but this is not good C/S. Maybe they need to invest in better employees for this type of customer-interaction.

Soooo, 2 stars because I REALLY like their food! But that’s where it stops! been eating breakfast there(Sundays mainly) SINCETHEYOPENED but now feel compelled to complain a little… JUSTCALLEDTHEM: 10:32am Friday 11÷5÷15 Me: breakfast bowl please. Them: «I’m sorry, it’s our POLICY to not serve breakfast past 10:30». Me: «so u still have breakfast on the line?» Them: «yes but I’m sorry sir it’s our policy not to serve breakfast past 10:30» Me: «this isn’t McDonalds. U still have the food!» Them: «yes but I’m sorry sir it’s our policy not to serve breakfast past 10:30. I’m sorry man» Uuuuummmm…ya. HELLOMANAGEMENT! I could have escalated but I’m not THAT stupid. U don’t piss off the cook! NEVER! If u’ve every waited tables, u know why! LOL Furthermore, For the past few yrs, the line WAITTIME has become stupid long! I can’t figure out why. Nothing has changed but maybe the staff??? it takes 4-EVER to get 15 ppl through the line! Like 15 minutes! Even Luby’s(yuk) is faster! It’s not like they’re cooking anything! In all fairness to Chiloso, Maybe I just don’t have patience as i should(& as most ppl do) but it’s enough to make me turn around if the line is at the menu(10 ft from the servers). Been there done that. I see no reason to wait more than 5 mins in line to give someone my hard earned $$$…but I don’t EVER wait at restaurants either. It’s reservations or call ahead or I move on. Plenty of other great places to eat that take reservations or w/o a wait. Chiloso, if ya wonder why ur revenue has dropped, it ain’t because folks r going to Chipotle!

I love Chiloso. I compare all the chain Mexican bistro type restaurants and Chiloso comes out on top. Every time i go I leave full and satisfied. My favorite dish is the Boom Boom enchiladas. I despise bland restaurant food and almost everything they make has a little kick to it. Yesterday I tried the grilled vanilla cake. It was pretty good. It wasn’t too sweet and unique tasting from the saltiness of the grill. The only problem with the establishment is they hire a lot of teenagers that with hate or do not care about their job. You may have to deal with unfriendly and unprofessional teens but management usually comes out and checks on you and your meal. That balances the experience out.

5 star food every time. Grilled avocados with beef fajita meat. Topped with white cheese, cilantro and queso. Amazing flavor. We would come here for the queso alone! The side is enough for one person. It’s a thick yellow queso with tomatoes, cilantro and a little bit of heaven. My kiddos get a large quesadilla(not in the menu) and they share it. It’s bigger than two kids quesadilla meals. Unlimited chips and salsa which by the way is delicious and ask for a side of jalapeño ranch.(Or salsa ranch). Don’t expect a friendly welcome and happy sappy employees. It’s clear they are here to work and sometimes they appear a bit stressy. But we don’t come here for them, we come solely for the food! And we keep coming back!

Okay the food alone gets four stars and with some attention to service details they could get bumped up to 5 stars. I have been two times. On Fridays ONLY, they offer fish tacos. I like to get the fish taco, the shrimp taco and the salmon taco. Each of these are outstanding and unique. You know sometimes they can all taste the same but they change the flavor and the accompanying garnishes in the taco so it is three differently, delicious tacos. I tried the avocado dish that so many Unilocalers raved about and I was supremely underwhelmed. It left me wondering was something missing. It was like they cut open an avocado and let it hit the grill long enough to get grill marks and topped in sparingly(i.e. my chicken was playing hide and seek with me). I mean I felt like I was eating fresh avocado. I just started eating it with salt and chips like a dip. It gets crowded in here at night and the line can be discouraging at times. The service is just not where it needs to be. Perhaps they lean on the quality of their food which is certifiably awesome. I just think it could take them to the next level. That and figuring out how to move that line a little faster. I mean I called while I was sitting there to order to go and they just put me on hold while the dude just stood there… hmmm…okay. The manager the second visit was nicer than anyone else and seemed to put forth effort that I appreciated very much. I have yet to try them for breakfast but I read that they are just as awesome. The chips are unlimited in house and served in small, brown paper lunch bags. Queso is good not great.

We were really pleased with Chiloso’s. Fast food concept but with really good food. I had the grilled avocados with steak, onion, and cilantro. Winner! Glenda really liked her shrimp tacos. Way quicker than a sit down restaurant and the food is good. We’ll be back.

This is my first time to stop in here. I had checked on Unilocal for a good inexpensive restaurant and this was the first one to pop up on the screen. When I first walked in I thought of the Chipotle restaurant chain. You walk along an assembly line and order from a menu board on the wall. the prices range from about $ 3 for side dishes to 10 dollars for the most expensive dish. Since I had never been here before I asked the waiter behind the counter what he would recommend, I love avocados so I ordered the Grilled Avocado plate, Picture a large avocado cut in half and served open face on a bed of queso. Then top the avocado halves with fajita meat. top the meat with shredded white cheese and cilantro. And serve them with fresh Spanish rice and frijoles, crispy chips and a variety of salsas, which include slightly sweet mild salsa, a smokey chipotle salsa, a very hot habanero salsa, a delicious avocado ranch dressing, and pico de Gayo . That, & a large beverage, came to $ 11 and there was more food than I could eat. 1. The grilled avocado dinner rated 5 stars 2. People were cleaning the entire time I was here so cleanliness would get it 5 stars 3. Since there was no table service, only a counter service, service gets 3.5 stars(and since I’m an old lady, I didn’t appreciate the hip-hop music blaring out of the speakers,)

I do not know how to really feel, from the view itself got me. Friendly staff and great food with excellent table setting making it feel like a date or formal. They asked me if I was new and gave me more in my bowl and every sauce to try. Place is clean and food was great. I love it

The Grilled Avocados are outstanding! Actually I doubt anything is bad here. The food is fresh and this by no means a food-food concept. So many options. The portions are perfect! Great ambiance, clean and worth coming back to try other items on the menu.

I think I might be rating it four stars based on the jalapeño ranch dressing alone. I mean, really. The service is pretty slow and the staff could be a little friendlier but that Ranch… that Ranch earns this place at least 3 solid stars. It gives me such a warm, gooey feeling inside. It’s like coming home. It’s that serious. The chicken tortilla soup is the best in town. I love that everything wet is separately packed from everything dry. It makes for a really great soup experience especially when taking things to go. Bottom line is that the food is just good. It is solid and consistent. I also really like how supportive they are to their community and that there are always groups of people doing fundraising efforts within the restaurant. I love you jalapeño ranch… I mean, Chiloso. You are the greatest.

5 stars for the food, but 3 stars only because of the rotten service system. I hate standing in line at the best of times, but I realize it’s part of the fresh burrito experience. Unfortunately their line moves at glacial pace. They often have just one overworked girl assembling the orders, even when busy(such as this morning). They do not have anyone to take orders or pass instructions to the kitchen. Take me for example. I was a little pushed for time, but foolishly assumed Chiloso’s counter service would score me a fast breakfast. Only 6 people in line ahead of me, too! Nope. A gaggle of giggling high schoolers and one counter girl meant slow, inefficient assembly while I steamed. I didn’t even WANT a breakfast taco — i wanted a kitchen item, which would take almost zero of her time — she could just tell the 3(!) grill cooks, and get back onto the tacos for those following me. Then I could pay. & exit the line . But because the counter worker does everything, i had to clog up the line myself until I cracked under the strain & just left, having run out of time. The ponderous nature of their service line is Chiloso’s one flaw. It cost them 2 stars in this review.

First off to place a to go order you have to have 6 people to order from what they told us over the phone. So we got that! Then we call back ready to place our order then they said,“never mind we meant 10 people”! So we got 10 people! Done! We call and then they said we only cater, we don’t do to go orders! So finally the whole office was excited about ordering their food then they pretty much shut us down. We then decided to send out one person to pick up the food. Talk about the orders being messed up, the food was not great at all, unless you like to keep chewing on grisle, and they forgot some orders. They also charged us incorrectly and took cash when they had charged the whole total on a credit card! Management was aware of the situation, but didn’t seem to care to even fix anything! I’m not satisfied with this service nor food, and they have lost atleast 23 people’s business. I advise anyone who is looking for this sort of food to visit Oscar Delta kitchen in downtown Rockwall, also Forney residents Oscar Delta is the BOMB hands down!

Came here for dinner the other night and tried their stacked avocado special that they feature on Thursday’s. For all the rave reviews that I’ve heard, I expected it to be much better but I found it to be just OK(for my tastes). I ate about half of it and tried to reheat it the next day for lunch and I wouldn’t recommend doing that — the stacked tortillas were tough and tasteless the second time around. The weird thing that I noticed is that I woke up both mornings with a funky after-taste in my mouth that either came from the stacked avocado entrée or the chips that I had on both days. Either way, I will be sure to order something different the next time I stop in. I also found their sweet tea to be short on flavor. As for their breakfast tacos, they’re pretty good although small in size. Overall, I like this place and would recommend it. Chiloso’s is a HUGE supporter of the local Rockwall/Heath community and that’s worth a 4-star rating in my book.
