I have had the absolute worst experience living in a property managed by Citywide Real Estate Management. First, when I moved in, the maintenance guy was still working on fixing the apartment and so he was going fast and didn’t properly fix the issue AND the apartment never got cleaned for me after he was done. Then, when my mailbox key didn’t work, Sharon from Citywide called and told me that I had to pay a locksmith to come out and change the lock because they gave me the key and it was my issue to deal with. Then, the fridge in the apartment stopped working (NOT MY FRIDGE, it’s the landlord’s fridge) and after filing a maintenance report, Sharon called me again and told me that the maintenance lady didn’t work on appliances and that it would be my responsibility to pay to have the fridge repaired. Also, the building has a roach problem and after multiple maintenance requests, I NEVER saw them send someone out to spray for roaches. I also sent multiple requests for the ceiling over the bathroom to be fixed. There was a leak coming from upstairs that did get fixed by a professional plumber. However, the mold and mildew stains in the ceiling never got fixed. In fact, my maintenance requests and e-​mails seem to have just been ignored. Additionally, they were showing my apartment for the last two months I lived there and told me if I didn’t allow them to show my apartment to prospective tenants, they would charge me another month’s rent. So in order to not be charged, I had to allow people into my home with my pets while I wasn’t there, with all of my stuff still there. Now that I moved out, and paid to have a professional cleaning company come out for a «Move Out Clean,» Sharon is saying that the apartment is not «clean and saniterized» but won’t give me any specifics on what exactly in the apartment is not clean. In fact, it’s cleaner now than it was when I moved in. She is threatening to deduct money from my deposit even though I have already paid to have it cleaned.
WHATEVER YOU DO — If you are interested in a property that is managed by Citywide — DON’T DO IT. It is not worth the hassle of dealing with the management company. You will not be happy and they will take all of your money and not think twice about it.
