Slab Leaks

I had a very poor experience with Slab Leak Detections and its owner, Terry Waters. He was hired to replace the entire sewer system underneath a house and was paid a very large advance for what he claimed was to pay the company that he hired to do the tunneling. The tunnel got dug and he came out and replaced the old cast iron pipe with PVC. When I inquired about him getting a city permit and inspection prior to filling in the tunnel he told me his insurance was expired and that he had to use another plumber to «pull» a permit. A permit was issued and an inspection was set for the following day. The city came and issued a «red tag» because it failed inspection. I immediately called and texted Terry. Several days went by and he did not show back up and was not returning phone calls or text messages. I researched the city permit that was issued and was able to get in contact with plumber whos name Terry had used to get the permit. Upon telling him the story he said that he would try to get in contract with Terry. He eventually called me back and said he spoke w/​Terry who told him he had been in a car accident and that Terry had told this plumber to just finish the job. When plumber #2 showed up and inspected the work Terry had done (under his name) he said the entire system was done in the wrong size pipe, with the wrong fittings and that it all had to be removed and redone. So, after coming out of pocket more $$$ for plumber #2 to replace Terry’s work, the house pasted inspection. During all this, I found out that the company Terry hired to dig the tunnel had only received a very small portion of the large advance that was paid to Terry. The tunneling company ended up filling the tunnel back in and has still not gotten paid by Terry and he is not returning their calls. In addition, I researched Terry Waters on the Texas Dept of Plumbing Examiners website and according to it, he is not a Master Plumber as he advertises on his website, he has an expired Plumber’s Apprentice license. I have requested the return of the monies advanced to Terry and have thus far received nothing.

I had a complex plumbing issue that required tunneling below my slab to repair several leaks. Terry, with Slab Leak Detection’s was extremely attentive to our needs and worked around our schedule to ensure that the inconvenience to us was minimal. Most impressive was how accessible Terry was. Whenever I called with a question I got a quick response — no chasing down voice mail or leaving multiple messages. And he stuck to his original bid — no funny business. I would use Terry and Slab Leak Detection’s again on any residential job.
