The Home Depot

I can’t confirm for sure, but there might be someone monitoring the bathrooms there with an audio device. Out of nowhere in the restroom, static-​y walkie-​talkie sounds came from somewhere.
Overall decent Home Depot, though a tad on the darker side lighting-​wise. Not as helpful as other HD’s.

I had an (obviously) negative experience with purchasing a washer/​dryer system from Home Depot. Firstly, I paid for installation, their tech informed me that he could not hook up the washer. The reason he could not hook it up is unclear. He wrote on the invoice that the threading was out of alignment and I’d have to get a new system. He then stated he could not hook it up because it was plastic and there would be liability issues associated with the hook up.
This seemed pretty fishy, as I called management to figure out what is going on I got one of the managers of this store on the phone. He did some research and informed me that I needed to install a brass faucet system to be compliant with the washer and that ‘most systems are brass now, we can’t work with a plastic faucet system.’ I asked if I could get the items returned he said no no the system works just fine. I felt like I’d been given the run around, possibly scammed but I had to do some further research.
Low and behold, taking a look at the OTHER end of the hookups, the washer was already attached to plastic threading on the WASHER. So it made NO SENSE for the manager to tell me I need a brass system. With a little TLC, I got the hook ups installed to my faucets with no leaking. This of course was AFTER I CALLED A PLUMBER and had him come out to tell me I don’t need brass hook ups.
Thanks to this incompetent bunch at this location I had dirty clothes, spent more money out of pocket for a plumber, and PAID FOR INSTALLATION THAT DIDN’T GET INSTALLED. I am NOT a happy customer, what happened to competence and good customer service? Christ! Looks like I’ll be taking my business to Lowe’s thanks to these MORONS who clearly could care less.

Reviewing specifically about an experience a year or two ago that left an impression on me (have been back many times since). The people there were EXTRA nice and each person I would pass on my way to the aisle I needed would ask me if I needed help finding anything. I knew where I needed to go, but it was really nice that each person tried to help.

We came to this Home Depot location because when we went online, it said they had two of our desired bathroom vanity top in stock (we needed two). Surprise! When we got there, they had zero, but it took about 30 minutes to determine there were none in the store. After calling every other location in the area, we were able it find one at the Strongsville store and one at the Rocky River store. They were unable to do a store transfer and deliver both pieces to one store, even though they were the ones with the inventory that was off. So, what should have been a 30 minute trip, turned out to be a 3 hour tour of the Home Depots of the West side of Cleveland.
However, I will say that although they didn’t have the product that they said they did, the employee that we worked with at the North Olmsted store was just about as helpful as she could have been. However, almost all of the other employees that we ran into on our doomed tour de’ Home Depot were less than helpful and seemed kind of angry to be at work.
Will I be back to buy the rest of the things I need for my bathroom remodel? Probably but only because I’ve already priced Lowe’s out and the specific things we need are cheaper at Home Depot. Wish me luck on my return trip this weekend.

This is a smaller location, but the staff make up for it. I can always find someone to ask help, and I’ve always ended up walking out with what I needed.
I actually am very impressed with the staff. I recently needed a receipt reprint of a $ 6 purchase from the same month. Yes… a $ 6 purchase. Pathetic, I know. The girl I spoke to wasn’t sure how to do it, and she immediately and cheerfully found someone that could do it for me. Seriously, I cannot imagine that happening at another store.

Tried to start the summer off sometime back in May at the West 117^th location. BIG mistake. Way too many morons (shoppers and employees) gunking up the works. I took a breath, hit the freeway and ended up at this smaller, less frenetic location. Goldmine. You get plenty of time to browse all the stuff without anyone crawling up your ass to ask if you need something. I hate when they ask me that, because they never know the answer. So why ask it?!? Just give me some space and I’ll figure it out myself (Suicidal Tendencies reference). Stopped in a couple subsequent times throughout June at 6 in the am! Perfect for when I just got out of work. Got some big pavers for a patio, a patio chair, some planters, some little pine trees, bags of mulch and pebbles and now my back yard looks less ghetto. Thanks Home Depot! Doubt I’ll be in much once the backyard is done, but you never know.

Just spent 10 minutes with Dave in the custom kitchen KraftMaid area inquiring about upgrades for a complete kitchen remodel I did 1 year ago. As he fumbled thru a catalogue, my confidence diminished. That along with his salty, less than customer oriented attitude, I wrapped up my drawings and am now on my way to the Avon store. Wish me luck.
I had an AWESOME experience at the Avon store. Patty and Kevin were extremely helpful and WANTED to help. Patty was able to fit me in between appointments. She was very knowledgable about the product line and in the end, I ordered more product than what I initially set out to buy. If you need customer service, go to the Avon store.

What’s up with the negative (and dumb !) reviews
for other Home Depots? (Lowes, too.)
Talk about petty, angry, and just plain ignorant.
I’m sure that if a customer poll was taken there’d be an overwhelming percentage of positive experiences — excellent being the majority — in product, sales and customer service. Fortunately, most of us are smart enough to recognize — and ignore as worthless — negative reviews stemming from utter obliviousness. Some cases in point:
1. Supporting local businesses rather than the Big Boxes. I’m all for it. A shame there aren’t more local hardware stores whose owners — and their families — we can help by contributing to their personal household funds in order for them to stay in business. If one is near you, please stop there first.

Big box stores employ local HUMANS who also have families to feed — and bills to pay. When these stores begin hiring from out of the country, is the time to boycott — and justifiably bad-​mouth. Until then, your «local» belief is pure
nonsense. The times are changing, and our needs and demands are increasing
—all at alarming speeds. We NEED warehouse-​fulls of merchandise to not only construct, but repair, maintain, and replace what we already have.

2. No Big Box employee is within arm’s reach to help you. Boo-​hoo.

If you are THAT helpless you have NO business visiting ANY do-​it-​yourself establishment. This is out of your league. (To your credit, however, you were able to find the entrance. hmmm… since I wasn’t present, maybe someone had to point it out to you.) I can assure you that if you ventured off that spot you were stuck to — maybe someone spilled a can of quick-​setting glue and you just happened to step into it? —you’d soon be able to find someone who would do their best to assist you.
3. Big Boxes should hire people who have had experience with the products.

In the perfect retail world, this is true. But in reality, a totally absurd and scary expectation. With the million or so products and thousands of possible projects
—compared to the handful of employees — that would be impossible and illogical. Certainly, you will find employees with expertise in one or even several areas, but to expect answers to any question you might have confirms your stupidity. That’s why they offer FREE «how-​to» pamphlets as well as affordably-​priced magazines and do-​it-​yourself publications. Computer, too ! You know—
what you used to write your mean-​spirited reviews?

If the above doesn’t make sense to some of you, it falls upon me to be the bearer of truth: Plain and simple, you have no common sense. And that’s dangerous. Before seriously injuring yourself — or others — stay away from any store like Home Depot or Lowe’s — -ones that require your mental or physical interaction.
Maybe someday, DIY-​type stores will have «safe rooms» for helpless adults like yourself where you can wait while the (hopefully sensible) person you came with does the shopping — like the kiddie play areas in grocery stores. Until then, and ONLY if you happen to be accompanying someone who has common sense, please behave yourself — and whatever you do, DON’T touch anything, DON’T waste any employees’ time by asking questions since you’d never understand the answers anyway, and DON’T write baseless, bubble-​brained negative reviews. Better yet, stay in the car.

As long as you don’t feel that you’re way above others — if you DO, you’re actually way way beneath them — but you’re just a good old normal considerate mature human being with common sense — you will appreciate having this dependable, well-​stocked Big Box, for a helpful, friendly neighbor.
