Allegro Student Apartments

I’ll start by answering frequently asked questions, What does a remodeled unit have? a broken fridge, Broken lights, Broken stove, stains from a roommates gerbil upon move in; stains in my room; tape on walls covered with paint; and stains on the floors. Rent now starts at $ 825. A remodeled unit starts at $ 850 (leaving you just enough to buy top Ramen).
Amenities: WiFi doesn’t work so its more reliable to have your own service,
water is included in rent, its either Super hot or cold and random times during your shower. (ice man or burning man) The security deposit is $ 550, but there is also a one time operational fee of $ 75 as well as a $ 25 application fee, totaling at $ 650. also a cleaning fee required when you move out they don’t mention that.
Maintenance fixes everything upon request, (also thanks to my nagging persistent but effective dad which may be why they listened at all) so we can also blame the girls I was moving in with who smoke ²⁴⁄₇ and never bothering to do much of anything. (beware of ten month leases with random girls there is a reason there were only three) The four of us were sharing one small fridge (there were supposed to be two) upon my move in, and I was the one who had to get it fixed. The girls had said they had tried multiple times before but how reliable can they be. I had asked the one how long her bathroom light had been broken and she said two weeks before summer vacation. It was august.
I asked management to switch rooms as I was not able to concentrate, or get much sleep as loud people (and only 5 or so or less) were in my house on multiple occasions until 4 am playing game cube full volume (mostly because they are college students who don’t work or wake up in the morning) or listening to loud music (shit rap) and was annoyed with the constant stench of weed or eating my food. I had asked my roommates to stop who frankly could care less about telling me who they were having over and how loud they were and how much weed they smoked without opening a window.
After many attempts to tell my roommates to keep the noise down and the pipes out of their mouths in the living room or open a window (nice blow torch by the way), I told management my experience. they reacted by telling me I could not move, and that the situation would be looked into. Management proceeded to call them all in the office.
My roommates then reacted in an expected way for immature girls to react retaliation. Living in a hostile living environment was not my cup of tea as I expected to move. I went out of town for a weekend, and returned. They on my 1 year anniversary night decided to come to my door while my boyfriend was in the bathroom and I in a towel getting ready to go to a dinner and tell me i had to talk to them, right then. I said management has already spoke with you have they not? and they proceeded to hold my door open while I was attempting to get ready. And then I closed the door and they said they had accidentally held the door open with their knee. Mature. and went running to tell management they had talked about cleaning with me the next morning.
I have not felt safe in my living environment especially after the incident involving the man going door to door at trying to get into peoples rooms at the apartment. He later stopped after he broke into a sleeping girls room and slipped away with a pair of her panties. (great).
the problem is management, nothing here works (public laundry rooms), and its just not a good community to live in, living on campus might cost more but they are more helpful, especially with dealing with roommate issues
fun fact* my roommate also managed to leave throw up in the shower of which I never noticed until i turned around and looked down.

After living at this place for 10 weeks over the summer due to relocation for a summer internship, I wanted to express my disappointment with the way that I was treated as a tenant while I was there. I have never ever dealt with such poor management. Hopefully you all read my review and think twice before you sign a lease with these guys.
Management was completely unwilling to negotiate on my move in time and date. At this point, before even moving in, I already knew I had made a mistake signing to live here. I had wanted to move in over the weekend so I could have sufficient time to move my things in and be able to go to my new job on time on the following Monday. Allegro management was uncooperative in this regard, and I instead had to hassle my manager at work whom I had not even met yet to ask if I could come into work mid-​day, my parents each had to take off an extra day of work to move me in on a Monday, and since Allegro was unwilling to give me keys before office hours began (10 AM), I had to rush all my things into the apartment from 10 AM-​11 AM and then proceed to go to work. It was unnecessarily hectic and tiring and I would think that me being a summer tenant, bringing in easy revenue for this leasing company that they otherwise would not have since this complex is practically empty over the summer, management would be willing to cooperate a little more and be somewhat flexible.
When I walked into the leasing office on my move-​in day, the woman working in the office had her face buried in her phone, not acknowledging that people had just walked into the office. This is extremely unprofessional when you are representing a company and employees should never behave this way. My parents proceeded to ask several questions (as any parent sending their son or daughter off to a new location would) and she answered in a rude and unprofessional tone.
Another big flaw was the fact that I had to pester management multiple times asking when the other tenants are moving into my particular unit, and still received no response. Instead, I walked in one day and there was a note on the table from a tenant who planned to move her things into the apartment the following weekend, which was fine. However, I would have never even known about this had she not been nice enough to leave a message and her number. Again, a couple days later, I walked in and tons of stuff was in the living room, implying someone else had also moved in. I ask why — why I was never given a single notice about when people would be moving in especially when I had asked more than once? Instead it came as a shock every time. This is absolutely unacceptable — as management, it is your job to keep your tenants well informed, especially when there are other individuals moving into their same living space.
Additionally, two days before my move-​out date, I had to ask the woman in the office what the move-​out procedure is. It is your job as management to manage move-​ins and move-​outs, not my job to figure it out for myself by pestering the leasing office. Had I not asked, I would have likely been given zero instructions on the protocol.
I urge the owners and managers to revise the way things are run to make sure that tenants are well-​informed and living somewhere where there is at least some flexibility. The apartment is a very nice place to live especially for college students and the price is also reasonable. I had zero maintenance issues. But as a leasing company your number one priority is your tenants. I experienced zero flexibility from the management team this and had I known this would be the case, I would have opted to live somewhere else for 10 weeks.

I don’t normally write reviews on Unilocal,but I think that it’s needed in this case. I’ve lived in the dorms at SSU and Park Ridge Apartments and this place is definitely the worst out of the three. I’ll break it down for you.
Pros:
*Rent’s Cheap
*All Wifi/​Utilities are included
*Large Bedrooms
*Close proximity to SSU/​Chevron/​Olivers
Cons:
Inside the Apartment:
*Half of the Appliances in the kitchen are extremely outdated and break often
*The bathroom ventilation is hardly working and mold is in a constant state of growth (in both bathrooms).
*The WiFi may be included in the bill, but it fails to provide the two rooms furthest from the modem with sufficient Internet to do virtually anything
*One of the showers takes hours to drain, while both showers have terrible water pressure because they gush water out of the bathtub nozzle and the shower head simultaneously
*The bathroom doors are on flimsy sliders that always get derailed, which forces you to kind of reach under the door and jiggle a little bit to be able to let yourself out
Outside the apartment:
*The washing machines are ancient and eat your change, barely work and constantly go out of order
*The driers don’t dry well, most of the time
*The vending machine was out of order for four months with a sign that read, «will fix asap»
*The gym is a small room filled with broken equipment, one treadmill that kind of works
*The recreation room has a ping pong table with no balls and two broken paddles, plus a foosball table with no ball as well
Additional Comments:
* Street cleaning every Thursday, so you have to move your car at 9 am if you didn’t buy a parking pass
*Party environment (lots of broken glass, puked stained walkways, noise late at night)
Overall, I think that Allegro has potential, but when you’re a student searching for housing, you really have to consider the things that create additional stress. At the end of your academic day, you want to come home to a place that is comfortable, relaxing and is well maintained. Allegro is not that.

So $ 695 flat fee, utilities, water, sewer, garbage, wifi, and cable all included. Tremendous deal for a college student living on their own for the first time. But that’s exactly what it is, a college complex. Let’s start with amenities, the gym? Don’t bother it’s a tiny room with no windows. Washers and dryers were constantly out of order to be ready to walk up to the 3^rd story when you’re on the first because only one machine on the 1^st floor is working. Oh and be prepared to wait once you get there cuz only 2 machines are working.
Now appliances. Smallest refrigerators known to man, and two people are supposed to share this? They are literally old outdated mini fridges that doesn’t fit much. Old oven/​stove. Oven works half the time, the handle fell off of ours the day we moved in. Old cabinets, not enough cabinet space. Nice sized pantry though. Bathrooms were disgustingly old and outdated. Stunk of old wood. Our showers were gross and we constantly had to clean off the mildew. Toilet flushed half the time. If you’re going #2 make sure there’s a plunger, it’ll clog up every time.
Rooms are stuffy and smell horrible, dark rooms accentuated with dark carpets.
Paper-​thin walls. I constantly heard the boys above me having sex and wresting each other at 4 in the morning.
Ohhh…reminds me. Be prepared to get no sleep and have inconsiderate neighbors who party and are loud all times of the day.
Over-​all it is basically a cheaper off campus dorm alternative. Perfect for college students who don’t care much about space, cooking, and don’t have much furniture etc and like to party. For 695 everything is paid for. You don’t have to worry about any other bills. But you get what you pay for.

I lived at Allegro for three years and was so glad to be able to watch it improve with time. The previous management from my first year was horrific, but the new manager and RA’s/office employees the past couple years were always extremely helpful! I am the type of person that has questions about everything, and they were always very polite, professional, and willing to help! I think that more people should take advantage of that if they need it, because nothing in an apartment, or in any business for that matter, can be fixed without the management’s knowledge of it in the first place!
Allegro offers utilities included in the rent, which was always super helpful. I loved being able to pay everything in full at the same time. The price did raise a little over the years, however they offer lower prices before the raise if a lease renewal is signed within a certain time!!! Be sure to do that! The apartment itself is very spaceous and even bigger than my own bedroom at home! I was able to come home after a long day and feel relaxed and not have to worry about any problems relating to the apartment or its residents. There were also events put on by Allegro staff every few months such as barbeques, carnivals, water slides and water balloon fun, movie nights, etc. It was a GREAT way to take a break from the stress of school and homework, as well as meet some awesome residents!
I already miss living there, and I have only been gone a month! I highly reccommend living at Allegro if you are a college student that attends Sonoma State or SRJC.
