Specialties
Illinois Grappling Club offers a variety of grappling arts classes with a special focus on Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Wrestling. We also offer instruction in other martial arts like Boxing and Judo.
History
Established in 2015.
Illinois Grappling Club started because Mike Cimmarusti was tired of watching unscrupulous gym owners take advantage of their members simply to make money.
While Illinois Grappling Club is a business at the end of the day, Coach Mike believes that any student should be able to study the martial arts without going broke in the process.
That is why Illinois Grappling Club offers a variety of membership options for individuals and families to help them get the most for their money.
Meet the Business Owner
Mike C.
Business Owner
Introduced to the gentle art by his identical twin brother, Mike Cimmarusti began studying Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu when he was 26 years old.
After Coach Mike’s first BJJ class in 2006, he was hooked and knew that he wanted to make the study and teaching of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu his profession.
While Coach Mike had been a multi-sport athlete for most of his life, Coach Mike quit all other sports within a month of his first class to focus only on his Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu training.
Nine years after his introduction to Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Coach Mike earned his black belt from Mark Vives, owner and head instructor at New Breed Training Center.
