We are a full service fly shop providing professionally guided fly fishing trips, quality flies and fly fishing equipment, fly fishing classes and instruction, equipment/​wader rentals and more. Stop by and check out the largest selection of fly tying supplies and materials in the Catskills.

Full or half day guided fishing trips are on the Beaverkill River, Willowemoc Creek, or the Upper Delaware River system (Main Stem, West Branch, and East Branch). Float trips or walk/​wade trips available.

We enjoy teaching, and welcome beginners and experienced anglers alike!

History

Established in 1979.

Located in Roscoe New York, the Beaverkill Angler has been proudly serving Catskill area fly fishermen for over 30 years. Affectionately known as «Trout Town, USA», Roscoe sits near the conjunction of two world famous fisheries: the Beaverkill River and Willowemoc Creek. With the Main Stem, West Branch, and East Branches of the Delaware River nearby, the Beaverkill Angler is a trusted source of area information, flies, and services for people fishing some of the most historic rivers in the country.

A long time Authorized Orvis Dealer, in 2011 we expanded our product offerings and now carry additional well-​known brands like Hardy, Lamson, Winston, Beulah, Scientific Anglers, Rio, Greys, and more.

My boyfriend and I had such a good time fishing with Dennis over Labor Day Weekend! Making the plans with the shop was incredibly easy and they were really accommodating. The price was reasonable and everyone who worked there was just so friendly! I’ve been to my fair share of fly shops, and these guys were by far, the least pretentious and nicest group I’ve interacted with. We did an all-​day wading trip and spent the first half of the day «perfecting» our casting. Both of us were pretty rusty, but Dennis was incredibly patient and gave really helpful suggestions. By the end of the day, both of us had improved a ton! We had an amazing time and have already been talking about making another trip up to Roscoe to fish with him!

One of the attractive aspects of the Roscoe area is its proximity to the multitude of rivers that form the Upper Delaware watershed, all of which offer different types of water conditions. The staff at The Beaverkill Angler are extremely knowledgeable and intuitive of the complexities of the entire system, and offer expert advice on where your chances of a hookup are best at a given time, how to approach the stream, and the types of flies and techniques to use to maximize your catch. There is a considerable depth of selection of merchandise that is stocked in the store, and they do an excellent job in guiding you through the fishing tackle that you are considering to purchase. I have always been thoroughly satisfied that I have bought the products that best suit my needs. In addition to their insights into Catskill fishing, the staff are similarly world-​class in the entertainment value that they provide, and rank among the most colorful characters in the region. Interacting with these guys is an indulgence in slap-​stick humor that will make you look forward with great anticipation to your next visit to the store.

Stopped in today to pick up a few last minute items before heading out to fish. I thought the store was well laid out, had a really good inventory, staff was friendly, and the prices were better than I expected. I would definitely recommend them, and will be visiting them again soon.

What a spot! If you’re in the area to get on fish and enjoy the beautiful water the Catskills has to offer, this spot needs to be on your short list. They are very knowledgeable, friendly, and helpful.
Recently went in to get my buddy set up with gear and Matt was more than accommodating with his time and insight. Let us cast a few different rods and never pushed the ‘most expensive’ options just to make a sale. My friend and I both really appreciated that.
Fly tying — I drive 90 minutes from home just to get materials here, due to their huge selection and fine quality. I dare you to find a better selection of hackles anywhere in the catskills. Again, never pushy, and always around to offer insight into alternative ways of approaching your passion.
A true fly shop in every sense of the word… (and my shorthair is always welcome!)

Snobbish, pretentious know-​it-​alls who acted as though we were interrupting their day. When we asked about where to catch and keep, these guys did their best to push us toward catch and release (most of the area is catch and release, but there are legal spots to catch and keep). They wanted no part of our conversation and questions and immediately assumed that we were in the area to fish illegally.
Their products are overpriced and a over-​the-​top (may be perfect for the city slicker who just wants to look «good» or «cool» in those Instagram photos to show off to friends and family), as the clothing seems as though it’s directly out of a catalog picture.

One of my favorite places in the area to stop by and get the current scoop on the fishing, hatches, local chatter, etc. Matt and Evan are great guys. They know their stuff and always have some kind of event that promotes the area and fly fishing in general.
Great selection of tying materials, gear and equipment, and now selling Sage and Hardy as well as Orvis.

If you are looking for quality service, and great selections of flies, go to this place! The owner, Evan, is extremely knowledgeable with the sport and with the area. He’ll get you on track to have a great fishing experience. Great selection of rods, reels, and other fishing equipment. They carry Orvis products. Definitely stop in if you are fishing in the Catskills!
