One of, if not the best, Chinese food spot on Merrick Blvd… and there are several. I’ve been ordering from Gookies for many years and the food is always excellent. The staff is very friendly. All the food tastes fresh and is well seasoned. You can see right into their kitchen, which always looks clean and airy. I’ve checked out every Chinese take-​out spots in the area, and this one is clearly #1.

I wondered why, you, a Chinese establishment called itself «Gookies.» The term «gook» was a derogatory term used to describe Asians in the early 1900’s.
I didn’t review this place for it’s food; I didn’t try it. The star was not based on the food or service; it won’t let me post unless it is star rated.
