Hollywood Kennels

Hands down the best groomer around. Service is paramount and my little baby loves getting her puppy spa day here. The owner is so nice and truly loves animals and what she does, everything after that falls into place and that’s why they are number one!

First let me say I have never boarded my dog before, but 8 days in Hawaii is a lot to ask of anyone. When I first pulled up I thought I walked into the late 70’s. But I met the owner and she seemed nice so we trusted our dog there. Midway through the trip we called and they happily reported that our dog was fine, what a relief! We had him groomed before he came home. He seemed well fed and happy when we picked him up! I would use them again. Very reasonably priced.

I brought my two dogs for grooming yesterday and asked not to cut the moles that my 12 years old dog has over her body. When I came back to get them, I asked if «Anna» could avoid the moles and she did not really answer. The younger dog was directly put into my arms and the 12 years old was in another person arm and they insisted that they could help me and put the 12 years old in the car so I did not pay attention. When I went home, the moles were cut. No way I will go back and no way I will recommend this place because this shows that they do not care but they accepted my tips. I will post the pictures on my Facebook account and I will show them to my pet vet. They do not care, I dot not either.

Hmmmmm where do I begin… I was very disappointed with this place. I left my cat here for a week when I went on my honeymoon and when I picked her up and bought her home she was pretty much traumatized! I should’ve not left her here when they don’t show actually where your pet will be staying and just show you a vhs tape of the facilities because of insurance purposes! When you pick your pet up they tell you to give them a hour to get your pet ready… I give them a hour and a ½ and I still wait like 10 minutes for them to tell me she won’t get in her carrier! I go to the back where she I’m to find that she had been staying in a huge cage! Seriously?! The lady that owns the place told me that my cat would be in a 5×5×5 room! Lie! Next when I get back there two workers are there that are scared to even approach her! I have to climb in her CAGE to do their job and put her in her carrier! Worthless! Now I have a very traumatized cat at home! On top of this they charged me for a extra day that she didn’t stay there because they have 24 hour workers! This made no sense to me but whatever! Its always true you get what you pay for! It just seems like they cater more to dogs which is so wrong… when I was waiting for my cat the dogs that came out seemed like they were happy! My cat came out and is traumatized! I will never leave my cat here again!!!

I’m planning my wedding and if you don’t know me personally, you have no idea how OCD I am, so you don’t quite understand how much of an ordeal it was for me to accomplish the incredible tasks of arranging transportation, tuxes, dresses, flowers, music, photography, videography, banquet hall, hair & make-​up and of course doing all this and not being murdered by your fiancé (or sister/​matron of honor) all the while. But let me tell you, these are only a few of the millions of tiny details that went into our big day.
It wasn’t until the week before our wedding, when u figured I gotta find a place to kennel the furkid over the holiday/​wedding weekend where I know I can trust he’s well taken care of and I can sleep at night not worry about him.
Well, you think all those other details I mentioned were difficult to arrange? They were nothing in comparison with finding a kennel for Jackson while we made our vows.
Everyone was booked. Everyone good at least, except for Hollywood kennels. I love our dog like a child and I didn’t just want to put him anywhere. He’s my precious boy. My sister and I walked in to HK to be greeted by the owner who was just the sweetest woman ever. She obviously has been doing this forever and wasn’t afraid to tell us about their history. Me, being the freak that I am, wanted to see where my jack would be kenneled but they wouldn’t let us see. She explained why and told us that if we go back there, we would rile up all the other pets and then they bark and become anxious. Ok I get it, but I just wanted a peek. Either way, we watched movie on their little tv, totally 1993-​VHS and all, but it got the point across. They clearly care for the animals and I was more than happy to board my baby here by the end of our visit.
My fiancé (at the time) dropped off our boy the morning of the wedding and my HUSBAND picked him up the next afternoon after we were married.
They groomed him while he was there which was very kind of them but, and this is where that lack of the 5^th star comes into place) when he came home he smelled like a bonfire. Totally reeked of burnt wood. All we can figure is that is how they warm the place. But it was horrible and I had to give him a bath that very afternoon. The day after my wedding when I was exhausted and all I wanted to do was relax, I was forced to bathe Jackson which is a challenge all in itself. Other than that, we had a good experience. The price was totally reasonable and the staff clearly cares for our furkids!

I went to Hollywood Kennels today, to check this place to board my dog for 4 – 5 days. The building is very old. When we got in, the receiving area smelled like smoke and kinda needs a little clean up. The lady was nice to give us the info and website to check their place. I asked twice to see the place where my dogs going to sleep. She said NO twice… So me and my husband got suspicious… even though its cheap ($ 22per day for a 20 lbs dog)…im sure its not worth seeing…

I’ve used this kennel 3 times and been disappointed each time. The staff is somewhat friendly, but mostly patronizing and condescending. I found they treated me as though they new better than I how to care for my dog. Upon my first visit did not offer (or allow upon request) a view/​tour of the facility. I left a toy with my dog each time and it was never returned.
Each time I was pressured to add a bath to my services even though my dog was only staying a day or two at most. When I declined saying that I had a regular groomer, I was then peppered with questions about my groomer as though they were challenging the adequacy of the groomer I use (which I’ve been using for a dozen years already)
Their prices are somewhat competitive but considering they don’t include any outdoor exercise or individual playtime, I think they’re a bit pricey for what you get. I cannot speak to the grooming services as I’ve never used them.
Even though this location is very near my house, I now take my dog to a family-​owned kennel in Woodstock which is far superior in every way.

My family has been taking our dogs to Hollywood Kennels for over 20 years now! They always do a GREAT job, the dogs never come home scared, skiddish, or out of sorts, and their prices are reasonable. My puppies love going to see «Annie» and wag their puppy tails as we get in the car for our adventure. Their grooming services are outstanding and they can usually even fit me in the same day! I would highly recommend Hollywood Kennels and their wonderful caring staff!

Great grooming and boarding for the pups! I’ve been taking my dogs here for a long time and they always do a wonderful job on their coats. I have even had my dog Tobias boarded here for a week several years ago because I was going out of town. Their prices are reasonable and they are such nice people.
If you’re looking for an inexpensive place to groom and board your fur babies, Hollywood Kennel is a great choice.
