i was born and raised in Dalian for 10 years, i lived with my grandma, she lived in Dalian for her whole life, and was an amazing cook, after moving here, one of the things i missed about her was her cooking, sometimes i would go to bed with tears in my eyes because i missed her so much, then i came across this place, i decided to try it, i asked for a togo menu first before i go in and eat there, i quickly recognized all the dishes on their menu, its what my grandma used to cook! i was so excited! then i went for dinner, i ordered their pickled cabage, clam, soft fried pork, and their spanish mackrel, i was shocked by how authentic it was! i felt like i was at home! but the food wasnt alone why i gave it 5 stars, it was the service, i went on monday and wanted to order their dumplings, but they had ran out, i was heart broken, because i now live in san antonio, and will be returning to SA on wednesday, then the young lady asked for my number and said if she make some before wednesday, she would call me, i didnt have much hope, because making real authentic dumplings is a lot of work, and she seemed busy. but she called me the next day, and said she made some last night, i felt heart warming, because honestly, she didnt have to do that. Not a lot of people care these days, and when you come across a place like this where its clean, nice, roomy, and the food is fantastic, and the people is just so caring, you have to love it!!! i wish i lived here, but every time i visit CA, this is definitely a must stop place!!!

I was born and raised in Dalian and lived there for 12 years before moving to North America. If this doesn’t give me any credibility, I’m not sure what will(even if you think of something else that will, well… don’t tell me, JUSTLETMEBASKINTHEGLORIFIEDFEELINGOFBEING A NATIVEDAMMIT). Tucked in an unseemingly plaza in Rosemead is a hidden gem from far far away(specifically North East China). The owner/waitress is extremely nice and helpful, she’ll let you know if the portions are big and suggest dishes that you should order together. Here is what I’d recommend you order: — Salty fish and corn bread(Xian Yu Bing Zi) — Organic young chicken and mushroom stew(Xiao Ji Dun Mo Gu) ) MM good! I don’t understand why this place only has five stars, come on!

Great fried eggplant, stewed lion fish, average quality watery dumplings and way over-priced $ 15 chicken potatoes mushroom soup.

After having lived in the Dongbei for a couple of years, I acquired a taste for this style of Chinese food. I was shocked by the prices because I’m so used to paying a quarter of what this stuff costs overseas. However, you are going to get food that is comparable to what they eat out there. This is place is authentically Dongbei. The two dishes you should get are: 1.) Guo1Bao1Rou4 — it’s the sweet and sour twice-fried pork. Sorry, I can’t type Chinese characters on Unilocal. 2.) Sour cabbage and oyster stew — I can’t remember the chinese name of the dish anymore. If you like oyster, you might like this stuff. Sour cabbage is a Dongbei staple for those of you who don’t know. They also have those glass noodles in the stew. I need to come back to this place to try more dishes.

Dalian is a port city in Northeastern China(Manchuria), and serves predominantly Dongbei cuisine as well as its own, Dalian. Because it’s a port city, there is emphasis on seafood. This is a small Mom & Pop restaurant that serves up an abundant number of dishes at relatively low prices(most dishes are under $ 13) and, for the most part, the food food is delicious, especially the cold appetizers that feature salads(the ones made with potatoes and/or cucumbers) were very refreshing and perfect for warm summer days. Spanish Mackerel is a huge staple in Dalian cuisine, the few dishes they incorporate Spanish Mackerel are very tasty Their noodles dishes are wonder, averaging about $ 6 a bowl, and you get a large bowl filled with handmade noodles made the owner(wife and daughter work there as well, with the daughter being able to speak English — so if you don’t speak Mandarin or Putonghua, no need need to worry). The weaker dishes included the cumin lamb as the meat was not the best quality and was a bit on the chewy side. The deep fried fatty pork intestines just needed the intestines to be cleaned out a little bit more as the flavor of the intestine was just a little to funky…
