J&C Snack Shop

What does J&C Snack Shop and 老婆大人 have in common? Nothing. Ha. Ha. Ha. Anyway, I tried about four different flavored beef jerkys and went with the Sichuan. Just the perfect amount of heat, yet sweet, juicy with little to none numbness. A pound of this good stuff only lasted four days. Bummers.

Just stopped in to stave off my hunger as we were traveling awhile in traffic to get to Chengdu Taste. The shop keeper offered me a taste of anything I wanted. She gave me a very lightly baked mushroom which looked like a perfect fresh mushroom only it was hard! It was delicious so I asked for a quarter pound which she presented to me in a pretty bright pink bag. I brought it to my friends who were all waiting to order in the restaurant and everyone loved the mushrooms so much they went to the shop after dinner and bought all kinds of goodies. The dried mangos, ginger and potato chips were amazing and very fresh! We were all very happy!

I like coming here! The girl that works here follows you around asking answering questions and helping you out with whatever you need. I like that. That is good service! Nice and friendly service and sincere. Prices are pretty standard but they fit the usual favorites! I’ll definitely come back often. If you have wechat you can’t chat with them!

Just checked this place out and I got to say … It’s pretty intimidating there. The lady followed us around really closely. Commenting on everything we talk about or point to. I’m discussing about the food with my boyfriend, she doesn’t need to butt in. We can see the sign, we know what it is. If we don’t, we’ll ask. Then she offered my boyfriend a sample, and when we asked her how much is half a pound, she went went on ahead and started to fill the bag up eagerly. My boyfriend told her that’s too much, and that he only want half of the amount she gave, she only dumped out like 3 pieces. We wanted to know how much that would cost but she went straight to the cash register and rang us up. My boyfriend felt pressured and gave in. So we paid $ 16 for half a bag (like a zip lock bag) of dried apricot. What a rip off.
I understand that they want business but dude … Dial it down a notch. Or two, three notches. They’re scaring all their potential customers away! Definitely won’t be going back there anymore!

Was looking for a place to eat dinner with my boyfriend but ended up walking into this place cause I am a snack junkie. The lady was really nice, she followed us and offered to let us sample any snack we stopped to look at and showed me one of the plums I would like, which is really good. So we ended up getting the dried pineapples (SUPER DELICIOUS I’ve never had anything like it~~) and the plums.
Only cons were that they really fill your bag full even though I asked only for a little bit and the guy who rang us up was kinda intimidating, looked like he wanted to punch us for not buying over $ 30 worth to use the credit card… kinda pricey too.
but overall, I would definitely come back but choose to bag the wonderful treats myself.

Very bright and spacious snack shop, variety of meat, nuts, dried fruits and vegetables etc. overpriced a lot though.

I’m not sure when they opened relative to Chengdu Taste, but I’ll bet they’re pleased to be adjacent to a popular restaurant with a stable influx of hungry diners waiting an hour+ to be seated. (Note to self: Open snack shops next to Cheesecake Factory and Boiling Crab.)
I was happy to have the sales clerk follow me around and show me the products, and while it did make me feel obligated to buy, that’s fine too. I had a little mishap the first time as the clerk offered to bag my items for me and the weight ended up being 40% more than I asked for. It was off-​putting, but when I started sharing the treats around we concluded that they really are of good quality, particularly the spicy dried plums. I’ve since, duh, been bagging the treats myself.

I dropped by this place because I was waiting in line for dinner at another restaurant. I noticed a bunch of other people walking out with a bright pink bag, so I decided to walk in a take a look. They have a bunch of different jerkies, candies, dried fruit, etc. The prices are comparable to other specialty stores that you’d find in San Gabriel Super Store of 99 Ranch.
I bought a half pound of spicy dried beef jerky. It wasn’t flattened like other beef jerkies next to it, but I enjoyed the flavor. They were good that night when I bought them, but when I brought them home, they were I’m clumps and they were a little too dry for me. I probably would have done better if I bought the other jerkies that were flattened. I also bought a half pound of their dried mangos. I couldn’t tell if there were freshly made, but they were real good! Not the typical dried mangos you would get that was pre-​packaged at the grocery store.
The customer service was friendly here. However, it was odd that they followed me around. I tried a few things and eventually bought those two items because I felt obligated. The lady helped bag my items into a zip lock bag… they didn’t even have their own bags with their logos. They only take credit card transactions for purchases over $ 30. Also, they give you a stamp card, for every purchase of $ 20 you get a stamp. Once you have 10 stamps, you can trade it in for a bag of goodies worth $ 20.
Overall, I’d return again if I am in the neighborhood. This isn’t a place where I’d drive to for a bag of beef jerky.
