Even though elementary school was one of the worst years for me, I still had a fine time at Rice. Rice is one of the largest schools you could have gone to in the Garvey School District. During my years, the school shuffled through three different principals. I don’t know why because I was probably too young to understand the circumstances. During my year, the playground closed during 2005 ish because they were remodeling the playground and replacing the sand with the rubber padding you see nowadays. They took away the dome, my favorite playground equipment at the time. Mr. Arellanos was so funny! I remember I had him for first grade and his hand puppets and his teaching methods. It was like a game, rather than lecturing but I learned the ABCs at least. I don’t remember much in the later years until 4th grade. Mr. Tang was one of the most hardest, brutal, and dedicated teachers I’ve ever had. I struggled a lot in his class and started to slack off. He never gave up on me, and that’s what I liked about him the most. And fast forward to 6th grade. We had a day of fun for the 6th graders. We played water games and had Panda express. Not a bad school. I wouldn’t mind reliving Rice again.

6th grade class of 1994, attended K through 6. I don’t know what it is like now, but when the mascot was still Unicorns before Rockets, we had some of the best teachers in this school. You know, teachers that actually taught you words in 1st grade, like«Responsibility» and how to apply them. Teachers that would become your best friend later in life, and I quote«As close as it gets to being a son». Teachers that were role models, inspirations, and best friends… And on that note, RIP Pat Roldan… I think the only complaint I could possibly have about this school is… it’s too close to the wash. The balls would always fly in there if we weren’t careful with our aim and strength.
