I started my business last year, with absolutely no prior business experience. I got Carothers and Associates on referral. I have them do my monthly bookkeeping, as well as my yearly taxes.
I spoke to Charles on Saturday, and he said he was about to review my taxes and that I could expect to owe about 5k. That was crippling news to a new business owner that has spent thousands of dollars trying to get his business off the ground, and is just starting to see a profit.
I went in today to sign my tax forms. Charles informed me that he found approximately 5k in additional deductions, and I would be getting almost $ 500 BACK. I’m still speechless.
Highly recommend Charles and his business. You get what you pay for. I could not be happier with their service.

When purchasing my house this year, I was in a time crunch to submit my 2015 taxes. I’m incorporated and my tax returns are not simple. The previous CPA I had decided that he could not complete my return on time, and I was forced to find someone else.
Charles knows his business. It was pricey but worth it. He was fast– had the return to me within a week of receiving my information, and accurately interpreted the information I have him. He responded to emails, and also my first phone call to secure my business– when I was upfront about my needs and Type A personality of doing business.

I can’t believe how great of a company this is. They truly make accounting easy, for me that is :) They answer their phone immediately, email me back quickly and are always so pleasant on the phone. Fantastic experience! Mr. Carothers was very knowledgable and especially helpful with military tax matters and out of state tax returns. Even though we could probably complete our taxes on our own taxes this year we will be returning due to the ease of mind and trust in his ability to get the best return possible! He was also the best priced of all tax consultants or businesses I found.

I originally found Charles Carothers on Unilocal,in 2011 before tax season. He initially came to our home and did a consultation and took our tax forms with him and we scheduled a follow up appt. at his office to go over our tax return. He was friendly, courteous and knowledgeable and advised my husband and I what to do with my self employment taxes. We used him again to process our 2012 tax return and were also happy with his services. We then referred my in laws to him. They are seniors and had just moved back to CA and had a lot of questions about there tax situation and he helped them to put there minds at ease and advised them how to handle their tax predicament. My husband and I are planning to utilize Charles Carothers again this coming tax season.

Once again, Carothers Accounting is amazing. I’ve had some mid-​year tax questions, he was outstanding. Quick to respond. Responses were incredibly helpful. I cant say enough good things about Mr. Carothers. He is such a helpful accountant. I’ve referred several of my friends to him and they all feel the same way as I do. After first contacting Charles I was highly impressed with that fact that he meets his new clients in person at a location of their choice, for us it was at our home after work hours. This was of course a plus, convenient and personal. The day we met he took his time looking over our hard copy tax documents then systematically went over all aspects of our taxes. Charles was thorough and personable even in answering our 101 questions about our pending home purchase and tax scenarios that didn’t even concern us.
Once our meeting had wrapped up, we were instructed to upload our personal tax documents to his secured website. I was very impressed that Charles creates personal accounts for all of his clients to securely send their personal and sensitive information via the internet to his secured site. No social security numbers or personal information just sitting on top of a fax machine for everyone in the office to see at «Dewey, Cheatem & Howe Tax Service».
Professional, prompt, personable and extremely knowledgeable is how I sum up our experience with Charles Carothers CPA. This was one for the books and he has deserved our business for you years to come!

I found Mr. Carothers on Unilocal,and all I can say is I am SO HAPPY I FOUND HIM! I emailed him to initiate the process of setting up a meeting with him and he immediately emailed me back. He called me that same night exactly when he said he would. He took the time to explain his back ground, services, pricing etc. We promptly scheduled to meet for a consultation AT OUR HOME! So convenient (with little ones this was a huge plus). He wasted no time getting started on our corporate and personal returns and was done PRONTO! He was able to help us with tax planning strategy as well as give us peace of mind knowing exactly what he was doing to save us and our company money. He even hand delivered our returns the same day he completed them so we could sign and file to get our refund ASAP. My husband and I can not say enough wonderul things about Charlie. We used to have our taxes done by HR Block. Through a recommendation, we interviewed Carothers Accounting for our 2010 taxes. A quick analysis of our last years returns showed we over payed by not taking advantage of the available credits and deductions. We saved significant money on our 2010 return are now benefiting from the tax planning for 2011 and beyond. I would highly recommend Carothers Accounting to anyone.
