Sacramento Oral Surgery

Dr. Albadawi and the staff have been awesome to me. I needed a tooth pulled and they made sure I was comfortable during the procedure. Dr. Albadawi explained everything he was going to do and made sure that I was not in any pain during the procedure. I highly recommend him, you will not be disappointed with the service, staff or anything about the office.

I had two badly abscessed teeth which caused me to be very ill. Since things were getting worse I went to my dentist who referred me to Sacramento Oral Surgery for the two extractions. My dentist’s office was able to send me directly from their office to Sacramento Oral Surgery for the extractions the same day.
I arrived at their Roseville Office and from the beginning it was a great experience. The receptionist helped me with forms; I had no dental insurance so she told me exactly what my cost would be. Beronica the Dental Assistant was really great, friendly, and explained things very well. Then Dr. Nelson-​Crystal came in. I had been having vertigo, and had actually been sick for almost 3 weeks with a whole gamut of other symptoms. Dr. Nelson-​Crystal helped me with some positioning before she started the extractions and afterwards provided me a reference to help with the vertigo. How many doctors would actually do this? She was so friendly and easy to talk to. I don’t have vertigo now and the other symptoms I was having seemed to have disappeared.
Extractions can cause most people a bit of anxiety, yet within a very short time, I really didn’t feel any. It was explained to me what would happen, during the procedure I was constantly asked if I was ok, it went very well and very fast. Not sure why, but I have very little pain almost nonexistent, I expected more.

Dr. Nelson-​Crystal is a fantastic surgeon and person. Her office staff is also very special. I would recommend her to any of my family and friends without any hesitation. I am so grateful to be feeling so much better now.

After dealing with a dental office where the standard of care was horrible, it was a BREATH OF FRESH AIR to call SOS & get an appointment THE NEXT DAY for an extraction. SO different from waiting TWO WEEKS for a root canal on a tooth that was in PAIN!
The front desk staff was courteous & helpful. Emailed me my intake paperwork same day so I could fill it out in advance & had it already charted when I arrived. Even offered to see me earlier on my appointment day when I was in the area & making sure I could find them so I’d be on time for my appointment.
Beronica was great & explained everything from the charges to aftercare. She took her time with me and made me feel very comfortable.
Same with Dr. Chrystal. She went above and beyond and took her time to talk to me about my extensive issues in my mouth.
I am so glad my new dentist, Dr. Lorelei Perena, referred me here. Anyone who needs a good Oral Surgeon, or Endodontist or Periodontist, you will be pleased with your choice if you go to SOS.

I had a cracked tooth that needed extraction. I was going to do it myself but didn’t want to sterilize my pliers. Went to Sacramento Oral Surgery and got the best Dr. in the world. Not only is Dr. Tania Nelson-​Chrystal easy on the eyes, but she’s all business. Got the tooth out in under five minutes. I now have the tooth at home and am building a little Dr Nelson-​Chrystal shrine to put it on. Thanks Doc!

So, when I woke up this morning, I almost decided that the pain in my mouth was bearable and I could skip the appointment today. I am so glad that I didn’t … I was referred to Sacramento Oral Surgery this morning by my regular dentist. Nervous, sweaty and nauseous, I explained what happened to my tooth, and more importantly why I hadn’t taken care of the situation in YEARS to the very funny and very patient Dr Nelson-​Chrystal and her dental hygienist /​assistant Beronica. They were A-​MAZE-​ING. Not only did I ditch the idea of needing general anesthesia for a tooth extraction, they calmed me down, explained every single step of the process as they were doing it (no unexpected pokes or jabs) and it was fast. They didn’t condescend, they didn’t act like I was asking too many questions, or get impatient. They stayed friendly, upbeat, matter-​of-​fact, and were sincere. I am very pleased with my experience with Sacramento Oral Surgery, specifically Dr. Nelson Chrystal. I honestly hope I NEVER have to go back (no offense to any of the staff there) but if I do, I’m in good hands.
Side note, I had to bring my older son with me today and they were amazing with him too — he’s generally anxious being separated from me, and they offered to have him wait in the waiting room so he wouldn’t see the trauma of me getting a tooth extracted (not my idea, but okay) — he did great, they talked to him and he felt perfectly safe! The office staff is very nice, and caring. I really wish this was my regular dentist.

O.K.having a tooth pulled isn’t going to be the rainbow of your day… but there is no need to make it anymore painful than it needs to be. So in anticipation of that, you’re going to want to look for someone who gentle, caring and KNOWS what they’re doing.
I had an excellent experience at the Sacramento Oral Surgery despite needing to have a molar extracted. The oral surgeon was Dr. Tania Nelson-​Chrystal. Great chair side manner. I was very very nervous and she took the time to make me feel comfortable and at ease. The extraction itself was
less traumatic because of the caring dentist and staff. Actually, every member of the support staff went the extra mile to ensure my comfort.
IF I had to have another extraction I would definitely come back here.

If you love to get your wisdom teeth pulled out raise your hands!
Yeah, I thought so.
That’s the exact same reason why I delayed over 10 years getting my last two wisdom teeth done (the top 2). This was also 2 years after they had already grown out and my regular dentist warned me of decay. They had been nearly impossible to brush because they grew at an angle facing towards the back of my mouth.
Still, who wants to use their precious time off work with a swollen face, in tremendous pain, and surviving on KFC mashed potatoes and smoothies?
I finally called to book an appointment. They were able to fit me in that exact week for a review and consultation. While I was in the waiting room they checked my insurance coverage. I could hear the receptionist ask the questions and she was very detailed, including under what conditions is anesthesia covered and if there’s a cap. I hadn’t seen my regular dentist in a long time (switch of dental plans, new city, never found time to pick a new dentist), so they took an x-​ray and after review, Mr. Petersen, who would be my oral surgeon, agreed it was best to take them out. He talked to me about the possible risks, complications, recovery time, and if I wanted to be knocked out or just use local anesthesia (KNOCK ME OUT PLEASE). He was good to ask if I had any questions and make sure I was comfortable, or as comfortable as I would get at the prospect of this.
After that an assistant had a form that clearly marked how much everything cost, how much they expected my insurance to cover, and how much remaining I would have to pay on the surgery date (credit cards ok). They did note the disclaimer that if for some reason or other my insurance carrier would not pay for part of it I would be responsible for the remainder. But at least from seeing their total fees, I was aware of how much extra I’d be in the hole for if my insurance screwed me over. At that point I was given the option if I wanted to schedule the procedure or call back later (they were able to fit me in the following week).
Pre-​appointment instructions were clear and printed on a reminder card in case I forgot. Their office also called me the day before to remind me of the appointment and to stop eating and drinking by midnight.
One thing to note, regardless if you chose local anesthesia or getting knocked out, someone is required to drive you there, wait in the waiting room during the entire procedure, and drive you home when you leave. They are not allowed to drop you off and pick you back up. The person will also have to help you pick up the pain medication they prescribe. Since I have no family or friends in the area, I’m really grateful I was able to find someone to help me.
On the day I went in, I paid up front, after a short wait headed to one of the back rooms, got strapped to a table with cold metal hand and ankle clamps smothered with that goo usually used for ultrasounds to monitor my heartbeat. The assistants were cheerful and reassuring. The oral surgeon did the IV himself, he tied a rubber tube around my arm, had my flex and whapped my arm a couple times to make sure he wouldn’t make a mistake finding a vein (HATE THAT). They were sensitive to if I was afraid of needles (I AM) and I’m glad to say he got it right the first time.
I woke up groggy and disoriented as they wheeled me out of the surgery room. The assistant kept an eye out on me and kept asking me questions to help me stay awake. But I was having the coolest visual trip ever (such nice swirly colors when I close my eyes) that if not for her I would’ve passed out some more, and gladly.
The oral surgeon at that point came in, went over some after procedure care to me and handed me a detailed sheet of how to take care of myself. The list was very thorough, it included suggested foods, when I could rinse or brush my teeth, when ok to start taking the pain medication, if some bleeding was normal 1 – 2 days out, when it was ok to try soft foods, etc. I was to call the office if my condition got worse. He also wrote out and handed me the pain prescription. Knowing I didn’t have someone to look after me the first day, he personally called in around 5PM to check-​in with me.
Everything went smoothly. It’s now been a week and I feel fine, still a little bit of swelling but I’m already eating soft foods. There were no complications. In fact, it went much better than when my bottom two teeth were taken out (was swollen 1 ½ weeks and throwing up green stuff from the pain medication so had to go without it, but they did say that the bottom two wisdom teeth usually take longer to heal from).
Thanks so much for making this experience as pleasant as you could, being upfront and detailed on the costs, and doing such a careful and thorough job to make sure I felt informed and could go in and out knowing what to expect before, during, and after.
