Tomodachi

I love visiting this store. They just opened a new store at the MOA, so I feel like some of the stock from this store went over there as it seemed like there was a lot more stuff the last time I was here a few years ago.

I love visiting this store. They always seem to have something super kawaii. Make sure to check out the clearance section in the back right corner. I’m super cheap. Sometimes I just like buying stuff from ebay or amazon but the in-​store experience can be so much more satisfying. It’s just more gratifying to be able to see a display in person. On weekends sometimes they have mini arts and crafts sessions where they teach you how to use one of the products they are selling. I got to make a cute ice cream/​lollipop key-​chain out of clay once.

There are a number of reasons to love this store. First of all, the owner is very friendly and interested in having you as a customer. Two, Dunny, loads of Dunny in boxes to buy new, or Dunny to buy from the glass cases spread around the store. Little Dunny, big Dunny… if you know what Dunny are, you will want to visit this store. One time, visiting the store, I opened a couple of boxes of Dunny I had just purchased. I ended up with doubles, and the owner made a deal with me that he’d take one of my doubles, and let me open another box. How cool is that? Evidently, he needed that one for his own collection. I can support a store where things like this happen… you should too.
Aside from Dunny, there are many other Kid Robot, Japanese Animé and designer toys to choose from. There is even a candy section should you have a craving for a Japanese sweet drink or sugar in general.

I’ve been a long time shopper of Tomodachi, I believe I started shopping there in 04 or 05 back when they had their store on the first floor? It was a good/​closer alternative to the sanrio store at moa I used to spend hours browsing the store and the owner never mind, he made me feel very welcomed.
Although the store has moved to the second floor; expanded, has more merchandises, activities (including games and events): One thing has never changed and that is the friendliness of the staff!
Oh and how can I forgot to mention, the cute stuff they sell too! I’ll certainly be visiting again once again the next time I’m in the twin cities.

I. love. this. place. Can’t get enough of it! Though Tomodachi is an hour and a half from my place, I’ve made the drive several times specifically to shop there. It has the most amazing Kawaii! You can really tell the owner carefully chooses everything in the store. It’s all top-​notch and the best of the best. I have found it difficult not to go into this place and drop a good $ 50. It’s not easy to do!
On a side note, with each purchase you get an adorable bag and also a piece of candy. Can’t go wrong with that. :)

This is a great store! The owner is very friendly and creates amazing opportunities for local artists to show their work. There are also contests throughout the year that celebrate DIY Vinyl Toys! This store not only carries designer vinyl, but there are a lot of custom DIY vinyl toys on display as well. You can find Kidrobot, Tokidoki, Hello Kitty, and lots of other fun things! They also carry fun Japanese snacks and sweets, super fun stationery, and great lunchbox containers! This shop is only 10 minutes North of the Twin Cities and every time I go, there are always new things to discover! Fun toys for all ages — definitely recommend stopping in if you are looking for urban art.

I am by no stretch of the imagination the typical Japan geek that I believe frequents this place, but I still love it.
They have good stuff for making legit bento, like my Okaasan in Japan. And I am a big fan to Tokidoki stuff, and they have a great selection of clothing and sometimes bags.
They also have good Hello Kitty stuff too, which can be fun to perk up your boring office.
It seems like they have a good crop of nerdy stuff too, for the types who like animé and whatnot.

Awesome in every way if you are an avid collector of Japanese kawaii, Sanrio, vinyl, plush, miniatures, etc. I was pleasantly surprised to walk into this rather large store of Japanese collectible toys. They even have bento supplies, origami books and papers. Prices range so there is something for every level of collector. I walked in just to take a peek and couldn’t help but walk out with an armload of booty. They even included a Hello Kitty pencil since I made a large purchase! They have workshops going on for the weekends, such as origami, miniature clay desserts etc. Also they do contests and art showings with established, budding, and hobby local and national artists.
Brands I spotted in their selection: Dunny, Sanrio, Tokidoki, San-​x, Kid Robot, Gloomy Bear, Munny, Sanrio, Domo Kun, and others. Other items spotted: miniatures, t-​shirts, plush, snacks and beverages, watches, wallets, stationery, stickers, vinyl figures, keychains, pouches and bags, money banks and alarm clocks.
Great to finally see a store like this in the Minneapolis metro area^^

Tomodachi. In Japanese, the word means friend. And, like a true friend, Tomodachi wants you to have fun, enjoy yourself, and play with their toys!
Tomodachi offers a wide selection of Animé and Designer toys. Unmatched anywhere the Twin Cities. And, the items that you thought you could only find online (e.g. Tokidoki jewelry), can also be found at Tomodachi. Tokidoki. KidRobot. Sanrio. Animé collectibles. Pop Art Gundam models. Designer vinyl art (my collectible of choice!). Japanese snacks. The list goes on and on.
They always have something new! And on any given weekend, you will probably see me and the GF at Tomodachi, buying the latest Simpson’s pop art or sampling some Japanese snacks. Yup, the store is tops. And did I mention that the owner is super-​friendly? Same goes for the staff. And its the reason why we keep coming back. You truly will find a friend at Tomodachi.
