For takeout greek food, this place is just awesome! Always an excellent choice for lunch or dinner to go in Roslindale Village. I usually go with the chicken souvlaki, and the superbly marinated chicken is always grilled fresh to order. Takes a few minutes longer to prepare because of this, so I recommend ordering for pickup, but it is well worth the wait.

the food is really good here. We tried the gyros, feta pies and the baklava. The gyro was really good. I would definitely get it again. The feta pie was good but I think it could have used more feta. We will definitely go back again.

Effie’s Kitchen in Roslindale Village/Square, is a small eatery with 3 tables, counter service, and street parking. Gyros($ 7.50): –Typically gyros are served with lamb or chicken however at Effie’s they are made with marinated pork. The gyros are really good and really big. I misread their menu and thought french fries were served as a side when in fact the gyro is made with the fries; I now know when ordering to have my gyros made without fries. It would be great if Effie’s had chili powder on hand for their customers who prefer their food to be served spicy. Greek Salad with Chicken($ 8.50): –The salad tasted very fresh and came with generous portions of chicken. The salad dressing was very tasty. Souvlaki Stick($ 2:00): –Single serving of marinated chicken on a stick. Chicken is very flavorful and tender. It’s great to have good Greek restaurant open in Roslindale rather than another Chinese restaurant or pizza/sub shop.

Just had a authentic Greek gyros, it is out of this world! I have eaten gyros from numerous other establishments but what I had at effie’s kitchen is second to none. Please if you are in the Roslindale area stop by and try the real thing, they are right in Roslindale square

Small, order-at-the-counter place with only a few tables, but the authentic Greek food is great. I highly recommend the gyro. Really cheap prices, and very fast service.

This place is so delicious! I usually get a gyro dinner for take-out, as does my husband. It is some of the best gyro I have ever had. Everything at Effie’s is super tasty — the meat, the rice, even the salad! Not an amazing atmosphere to sit and eat but the food is really good and I love that it is a family business.

We’ve been here several times to pick up dinner and have enjoyed all the food immensely. We’ve been to Greece, which obviously doesn’t make us experts on Greek cuisine. But this place seems very authentic. Just make sure you always ask for the sauces and dressing in case they forget. We once got a meal without either and we basically threw our hands to the heavens and cried«NOOooooOO! Where’s the sauce??» Haha. The tasty food was still devoured fairly quickly. This place definitely adds to an already great food scene in Roslindale Square.

I came here with my mom for the first time. I got her the gyro and I got my self a suvlaki. I ended I eating her gyro because I fell in love with it! The marinated meat was PERFECT. The blend of the meat, tzatziki, tomato, fries and red onions in a soft warm pita was the best gyro I’ve had in the US. I also have some of the suvlaki and the meat was amazing as well but the gyro won me over. The woman that owns this place is cute and greets you in Greek! It doesn’t have too much space to sit down, like a restaurant but I don’t care! I am going to tell every one about this place!

My Lyft driver, a man from Greece, recommended Effie’s to me as a great place for delicious, authentic Greek food. Having eaten there today, I’m grateful for the recommendation. When I walked in, there was a group of a few people at a table having a lively conversation in Greek, and the woman at the counter(perhaps it was Effie?) sat to join them. I really enjoyed the culture/vibe of the restaurant overall. As for the food, the gyro was delicious. The pita was soft and warm, with a light toast on the outside. The marinated pork(no lamb), tzatzaki sauce, red onion, and even French fries(yes, it has French fries on it) were a wonderful blend of flavors. I will definitely eat at Effie’s again!

We had a Greek salad with gyro meat and pita bread. We also ordered a skewer of souvlaki. I can’t say enough how delicious this was. I am full and still have over half my salad and meat left. But I still want to keep eating. Their Greek dressing is wicked good too. If you are nearby you would be silly not to check them out. If you aren’t nearby it’s worth the trip! Go. Nom nom nom.

This place has the best gyro I’ve ever tasted. It’s not only flavorful and well portioned, but authentic for a great price. I thought a real gyro was made with lamb, but boy was I wrong. It’s delicious, tender, slow cooked pork. I was sad when wapo taco was replaced, but I’m glad it was replaced with this amazing store.

I haven’t even had my food yet but this place is awesome! A very clean family owned and operated take out place. Rozzie needed some new and different restaurants and I’m glad we have been lucky enough to get a family run Greek joint Edit The baklava is out of this world! I got the chicken souvlaki sandwich and it was delish! A little hard to eat the chicken was cut pretty large but still amazing. The tzatziki was so amazing, I want to buy some by the quart please :)

Amazing service! Helpful and extremely friendly staff. Feels like you’re a guest in their home. Good was exceptional. My first real introduction to Greek food, and I will certainly be back. I have a burger with feta and spin age and olive aoli and my mom had a chicken souvlaki. The chicken was fresh and tasted like it was fresh off the grill. The burger was cooked to perfection and I loved the slight sweetness of it. I can’t wait to get back here! The place was newly redone and it looks so rustic and gorgeous! Roslindale is lucky to have a gem like this.

I’m a huge fan of Greek food and quite discerning, if I do say so myself! Today was my first visit to this bright, crisply appointed new place. I ordered the egg lemon(avgolemono) soup which is, for me, the yard stick for Greek restaurants. The broth is rich and redolent of real chicken stock; the tartness of the lemon is just right. There are a few little morsels of carrot which add color and sweetness. The chicken is in generous shreds and in just the right amount. I can’t wait to have a full lunch and dinner here. So happy to welcome this great new eatery to #Rozzie Village! P. S. Unilocal’s description states«Greek, Mexican» which is inaccurate. There used to be a Mexican restaurant at this location, perhaps the source of the error.
