Not only is Joanne utterly fabulous she has preserved her shop as a creative retreat. She values and supports local entrepreneurship and local quality items made by people. Her shop is beautiful and a true gem!

A beautifully curated little gift shop.

You should treat yourself to Joanne’s shop this Christmas! It’s like a little shopping heaven with a friendly, chatty shopkeeper and pug dog to boot! Why go to the crush of the mall when you can get fabulous books, jewelry, soaps and unusual finds! She decorates her shop so lovely at the holidays, I am looking forward to a trip out to Joanne’s next week as I am going to Minnesota (Brrr) or the holidays and need to buy small packables! Joanne, have the hot rum toddy ready for me!

Every now and again you’ll stumble upon a shop which inspires you; to be more adventurous, to be more appreciative, to be more eclectic. Joanne Rossman Design accomplishes this is in such a beautiful fashion.
The shop is small but very well organized. A diverse assortment of books, trinkets, mirrors, antiques, and artwork (essentially the same as my memory bank, which is, perhaps, why I felt so at-​home in this place) are arranged in old bookcases, bureaus, trays and shelves. The arrangements (and themes) are always evolving and certainly add to the promoted wonders of discovery. On the day of our visit there were: antique silverware and place settings, shaving accessories for only the most dapper gentleman, unique tea spoons and miniature salt basins, fabrics, handmade wallets and purses, artisan jewelry, and so so much more. The display which most caught my attention was that of the center table layered in French/​Parisian books, note cards, and trinkets. My purchases included: one book («Stuff Pariseans Like»), a pocket tape measure within a lovely wooden case, and two teeeeny clock faces (smaller than a dime!), all for under $ 40.
I chatted with the owner about visiting Paris, and craft items and all sorts of things. She is very much the sort of woman whom I would love to attend tea with (ou, peut-​être un petit verre de champagne). Charming, witty, and beaming with stories of travels and experiences (Joanne, really — — - feel free to send me a Unilocal message!). If you’re feeling a lack of inspiration (whether it be contrived of pen-​and-​ink, brush-​and-​paint, brass-​ivory-​and-​string, or simply «being»), a visit to this shop will be your spark to reanimation.

Joanne is an awesome weirdo with strange, freakishly adorable dog and an excellent little shop. I buy gifts from her for pretty much every holiday, and I recommend you do the same.

This little shop is crazy beautiful — Madison Avenue wonderful — and right in the heart of Roslindale Square. There are little giftie things, antiques, books, soaps, candles, art, Christmas ornaments and more from all over the world. The shop has an international feel and the arrangement of items is brilliant. The prices range from the very reasonable to the impossible to imagine, but I would say that everything is worth the price you pay. The people who work here are always helpful, bright, delightful. Once happened upon Joanne herself who is as pleasant and elegant as her shop.

Lovely shop, perfect place to find a gift for someone (or treat yourself).

Whenever I want to get a gift for someone, this is where I go. When you walk in, inhale, because it smells s lovely, as a result of the wonder candles to be had, sweet little soaps and french hand cream for starters ! And then there is Ms. Joanne herself. She is so wonderful so gracious and cool ! Meeting her is worth a trip to the shop in itself, but don’t forget all the lovely things to buy .
Besides, if you are in luck you may get a glimps of Ms. Rita Rose …

I love this shop and everything in it, including Joanne herself. It’s my go to when I need a little something out of the ordinary, or I just need a pick me up. I make sure to give myself extra time because chatting with Joanne is the best part of the entire trip!

What can I say? Joanne is a gem and her shop is too. I always go here for gifts for the ladies in my life. Mother’s day, birthdays, new baby, etc. She always has something unique and lovely and will wrap it up pretty for you.

Very elegant shop. The first time I saw it was in the summer when I’d just moved to Rozzie. And my mom was like «Why isn’t this open!!!» she was sooooo mad because the window display was adorable. So I’ve been in a lot since for gifts and just for things for me :) My boyfriend knows to go here to get me things. It is pricey but a lot of the stuff is handmade and I like that. It is a great little village place with a friendly staff.

«Purveyor of the Unnecessary and the Irresistible» pretty much sums up this cute little Rozzie boutique. I would also add «Ultrapricy.»
Don’t get me wrong: the merch, which leans toward vintage French influences, is great, and they have works from local artists on the walls for sale too. I’ve shopped there carefully and managed to grab a few all-​purpose gifts for less than $ 100 altogether, but it was kind of hard.
The nice thing is that whatever you buy will elicit people asking you where you got it. On the other hand, $ 300 for a very cool necklace of found religious charms and trinkets is a bit steep (I’ll just go pilfer my great-aunt’s jewelry box for rosaries, LOL).
Extra bonus points for giving out matchboxes instead of business cards! And Joanne, the owner, is a total pistol. Kinda like your cool aunt who traveled the world and keeps all her really juicy stories to herself.

This shop is wonderful. Ihad a long conversation with the owner today and she filled me with some new information! The shop was beautiful and I took a few pics (to be added to Unilocal!asap…) This shop is a chick-​magnet, so for us ladies or for our wonderful significant others of either gender who want to get us something special. I will be back! My favorites were the perfume (back right corner of store), the asian newspaper all over the walls (interesting!), jewelry (what else is new…) and misc. trinkets for reasonable $$$.
