Anytime Fitness

I was never quite satisfied here, but it was close to my house and open 24 hours (which is what I needed). Sign up was easy of course and that was the only interaction with Brandi — she was friendly. My first impression was the mirrors were quite dirty (I assumed they must have had a lot of classes that day) but behold… the same hand and fingerprints months later. The only cleaning done here is done by the members. It is a very small gym, but a nice variety of equipment. After a month of attending, I decided to try out the tanning bed, but it did not work. I notified management — never got a response and gave up «testing» it out 2 months later. They opened a planet fitness down the street finally — everything Anytime has to offer but 4x the size and ¹⁄₃ the price, but I wanted to wait until my year was up before cancelling. I read about the horror stories, so I pulled out my contract to make sure I had everything correct. First, Brandi’s perfect handwriting seemed to have turned into scribbles only in the area where it states the PO address to send your cancellation notice. It was also written OVER other writing as opposed to on the blank line and the zip code was missing… I thought… must be an *honest mistake* so let me contact them and ask. I tried twice and waited 2 weeks and never received a response. So I started googling addresses that the writing looked like until AF PO box# popped up for one of them! Finally! The worker at the post office even mention «oh! you’re cancelling? There are a lot of issues with these people!» I sent out my certified letter a month ago and it has yet to be claimed.

I’m looking for a new gym, and liked this place’s location. It’s close to home, smack dab on my way home from work, and across the street from my favorite jogging trail. The price is right, at $ 28.99 a month (I’m currently paying more than twice that at Life Time.) Sadly, all indications are that you get what you pay for.
I signed up for a 14-​day trial membership, and came by today to check the place out. From the outside, it’s a small box-​type gym. I saw one person working out on a StairMaster, and couldn’t tell if there were any free weights or rooms where group classes might happen. Given the size of the gym, which is really just the corner of a building full of offices (there’s a doctor’s office right above the gym) I doubt it.
Why are all my observations based on what could be seen from the outside? Because despite the posted hours (9am-​8pm) today, there was no one inside to let me in. I’ll clarify — this is a ²⁴⁄₇ gym, but members apparently have key cards they can swipe to let themselves into the facility during non-​staffed hours. That makes sense as a safety measure, though other 24-​hour gyms, like Life Time, staff round the clock.
Turns out that someone either just didn’t show up to work today or took off, because there was no one there. I rang the doorbell and waited about ten minutes, too, in case there was a situation of someone running to the bathroom for a minute. Nope. No one came. I can’t blame the sole person working out for not interrupting her session to let me in — she had no idea who I was.
I called the number posted on the door. Got the owner’s voice mail and explained the situation. Asked him to give me a call. It’s only been 20 minutes but that hasn’t happened yet.
Better to find out early, I guess — but I am definitely drawing the conclusion that customer service is not a priority here and I’m off to check out some other options!

I would give this gym zero stars if I could.
Let me explain that I joined this gym about 2 ish years ago and my experience is from 2 ish years ago. This gym is so close to my house. I was so excited and signed the paperwork after reading every single detail.
I worked out for a year there or so, and eventually just wanted to cancel my service. Canceling this damn gym membership was worse than going to hell. I went in and asked to cancel, and of course, like all gyms do, they said «No don’t! We’ll give you a free training session blah blah blah.» I respectfully declined and asked to cancel. They gave me a paper to sign to cancel, I signed, and thought I was done.
Wow was I wrong.
I was sent COUNTLESS letters to my home from this gym about «you haven’t paid for this month, we’re going to get you to pay» and basically threating me for «not paying.» I called the gym and asked them what was going on. The guy, I believe his name was Matt?, said he had nooo idea what was going on. But a letter was sent a few days after that conversation to my house saying «fill this out and send it to corporate and you’ll be canceled from this gym.» So, already pissed off, I signed yet ANOTHER document for my cancelation.
And guess what? I continued getting the letters about not paying for another couple months.
They finally got their heads screwed on straight and stopped sending letters, but this has got to be the worst experience I have EVER had with a gym. I have steered people away from this place multiple times because no one should have to be put through that sh*t to cancel a membership.

I shouldn’t even give this place one star first of all the owner and manager Matt is a hot head… I was working out and was talking to another woman about our bodies losing fat gaining muscle he walks up and interrupts it and then tries to intimidate me with the evil stare. He proceeds to tell me that is not right I don’t know what I’m talking about I used to be a certified fitness trainer first of all it was none of his business to walk up and interrupt but he did anyways. I continued my conversation with the woman and then I left the next day I went into the office brandi was sitting there with her husband Matt I asked if I can speak with him for a minute and he said yes. I explained to him that I was speaking to this woman kind of on some personal women stuff and I said I know it’s your gym he proceeded to use the F word and tell me it was his effing gym and that I could get the hell out I was totally shocked that he use that type of profanity and he looked very scary I think he may be on steroids I’m not sure but I have reported him to corporate I found out from other gyms in that area of East Cobb in Marietta did he has a lot of complaints against him and he is very angry and hot headed has yelled at customers and other issues with money at the gym that they may be closing down soon but I am done with this gym I will never go back there again he told me to get the hell out is that how you handle your customers really no I don’t think so.

this gym is not worth the price they are charging, but at least it’s open 24 hours. making it convenient for us, busy bees.
I can’t agree or disagree with these other reviews that concern the owner and his wife since I barely interacted with them. the times that I did visit this gym were after hours, which was when no staff were working or on site. I actually enjoy the gym to be empty much better than a crowded gym. so basically the only time I’ve ever interacted with the owner, matt was when we signed up and perhaps another time that we went in during the day. and so counting those 2 times, I’ve never had a problem with matt. perhaps that’s where my credibility is shot but oh well.
aside from human interaction, this «anytime fitness» is super small. I’m just glad they have the typical machines like the — treadmill, stair master, elliptical, and cycle. there are also some weight machines and free weights. the gym equipment is very straightforward and simple. nothing is here is modern or advanced. don’t even bother comparing «anytime fitness» to «L.A.» or «lifetime». that’ll just be like comparing walmart clothes to bloomingdales…
but anyways, you’re better off at some chain gym that charges $ 10 a month with no contracts than the deal they give you here for their no-​commitment-​plan

The gym is quite small. Don’t be fooled by the owner, matt, persona during the first few weeks. He behaves based on his mood. He needs lessons on social interaction. He was very rude and not responsive for our problems caused at the gym. I gave this gym 1 star coz of his wife Brandy. She is understanding and responsive enough unlike Matt.
Matt needs attitude adjustment. If you are a minority please don’t waste your money here. Please be prepared to be treated like a fly or unwanted guest here.

The concept works well for busy people, however this particular gym is quite small. I read another review that mentioned difficulty canceling their membership. I have the same experience. Followed the procedures they outlined on the membership agreement. Mailed a certified letter which was returned to me because it was unclaimed. I was still being charged. I am currently disputing the charges on my credit card. I would recommend looking for other options, or at least sign up at a different gym that is more responsive, and using this location as a guest.

This Anytime Fitness is A-​OK. Not the best set up for free weights, but has most of the basics. Gym was well organized. Showers were clean.

The gym is decent and I am sure Matt and Brandy are decent trainers but their business practices suck.
At first, they refused to process the discount Anytime Fitness had with my insurance provider. Anytime Fitness and the insurance provider both confirmed that it was valid and provided written documentation it was literally that Matt and Brandy didn’t want to do the paperwork.
When it came time to cancel my membership and I came to return my card and deliver my written confirmation, they informed me that I had to mail it in. Ok, so I mailed it in. It’s been SIX MONTHS and I am still being charged.
I contacted ABC Financial, the company who is responsible for payments said they have heard no such cancelation from the gym nor are Matt and Brandy responding to their inquiry.
Do yourself a favor and avoid Anytime Fitness in general and this one in particular.

I really like this gym, because it is not very busy and the equipment is in good shape. One thing I hate is the audio/​video situation. The music stinks, and you can’t change the channels on the TV. (I also thought it was weird that the owner and his wife watch the Sopranos with the volume all the way up at like 6pm in the middle of the gym when there are kids in the gym. There is something very unsettling about the F word being yelled out every two seconds with kids present.

Honestly, I like it because I work crazy hours and I can go «anytime». Clean and easy to work in.

Stopped by to check things out. I really liked the variety of equipment, the cleanliness and how helpful and friendly the people I met were. Next time I’m in town — this will be my place. Finding a place to work out where you feel comfortable is not that easy sometimes when you are traveling. Loved it!

Overall: Wonderful Gym, Attentive owners keeping everything clean and maintained, always getting new equipment, Variety of training and course options. The main thing keeping my problems from becoming chronic.
The Good:
— Owners/​Trainers Matt and Brandy: Matt is a no-​muss no-​fuss trainer who will make sure you are living up to your full potential with a knack for trying new things to focus on (read, working to failure) musculature you didn’t know existed. Brandy is kind and sweet, but will run you into the ground while being polite and chit-​chatting to distract you from the fact that you are becoming sore and a bit dizzy. They are also there most of the day M-​S to answer questions and respond to concerns.
–Facilities: Everything is clean and works. Cleaning products are out in plain view for people to wipe down equipment before or after a workout, owners have everything cleaned regularly as well. Equipment is high quality, new and more advanced/​theraputic machines tend to show up once in a while. Everything is well spaced so singles or small groups can work a circuit without feeling like they are in each others way. Three bathrooms, one dedicated mens and one dedicated womens with shower, one showerless bathroom to use in case others are in use. Adequate cubbies/​lockers in plain sight. Tanning bed that I have never used but seems popular and I’ve never heard complaints about. TV’s in front of cardio machines, channel change possible if wanted.
— Other patrons: Polite and courteous. Classmates have always been friendly and in good spirits.
–Classes: Zumba, cross fit, yoga, there is always something scheduled after work hours (starting 6:30 or 7:00 PM) to make you sweat.
Be Thee Warned:
— The owners do not suffer fools kindly. Don’t expect hours of touring and butt kissing when it’s obvious you’re shopping around, don’t play games trying to get lower prices and don’t expect training to be done in a way that wont cause soreness and fatigue later. If you haven’t worked out in a while or ever, the first couple of months are going to suck, and the owners are going to push you hard to your muscles’ failure point and their skill set is to determine what that failure point is despite your input.
— Peak hours are before and after work, moreso after work (5:30−7:00). You will likely be able to get the type of machine you want but maybe not your favorite machine, may need to shake up workout or rotate with other people wanting to use dumbbells and racks.

The gym is nice, clean and always updated with new equipment. I have no issues with the gym itself, it is the owner. Matt is a very blunt man with no ‘bed-​side manner’. I cried every time I left. Not from physical pain, but I because I felt like crap about myself. I struggle with a lot of the exercises and he would always cut our session short, tell me its because he knew I couldn’t take exercise and then still charged me for a full hour. I did not feel motivated, more so insulted than anything. You will feel judged the whole way through. He also talks bad about every other trainer out there during your sessions. It constantly feels like he is trying to sell you on his gym and his gym alone. Too pushy.
The gym itself is great, just do not do training. His wife trains, as well. She worked me out once for the end of a work out. I found her awkward and quiet. The handful of people that I know who joined their gym have the same opinion as me.

The gym is nice, very clean and the machines are new. The owners are there during the day and are very helpful. I normally go very early in the morning and never see anyone there so I have the machines all to myself. I was a member of anther gym for 2 years and switched to this one because it is small and more personal.

Good clean gym. The showers are nice and the place feels sanitary. There have never been many members on the premises when I have visited so I have always had free run of the machines.
This location offers a large selection of free weights and a lot of treadmills and elliptical type machines which seem to be in good repair. Unfortunately, they do not have individual TV screens on the aerobic machines so you have to watch whatever the person who got there before you is watching– which invariably is Fox News– and really sucks when you are going to be on that friggin machine for 40 min.
Clientele at this gym seem to be friendly upwardly mobile types.
Overall a good atmosphere.
Traffic is bad in this area if you leave there headed for Roswell late in rush hour.
