I wasn’t going to write a review but my hair is such a mess now I couldn’t be more upset. Here’s what happened. I have been to a million different salons and nobody has ever been able to turn my hair from brown to blonde. Except one time. So I bought a groupon for this place because everyone raves about it. I was excited. Everyone was so friendly when I came in and my stylist, Palmer, seemed liked she cared. I also expressed my concerns with paying so much money to not get the hair I want over and over again. She understood and said «we can definitely get you blonde today, you won’t have to go to another stylist». So wrong. I had no idea the groupon gives you a level 1 stylist. If I had known that, I wouldn’t have bought it. She had me under the impression that she was a senior stylist by saying «let me get the other senior stylist to see what we can do» I honestly think she was embarrassed to tell me she was a level one. I quickly found this out because she had me stand for my entire haircut. After that l, we consulted and came up with a plan. She told me my groupon would not cover what we had to do. I said fine, but I am on a budget. So she told me the glaze was 15 and the olaplex was 30. So I was like «so im only looking at about 60 – 70 dollars more?» She said yes and started the highlighting process. If Nicole, the senior that was helping her didn’t help wash my hair, my eyes would have been burned out. Palmer consistently got product, and water in my eyes to the point I had to keep one closed almost the entire time because it hurt so bad. Then she got product on my chest, which left a rash for the rest of the day. I didn’t have the heart to tell her because she was so sweet. After the highlighting she started blow drying my hair, she didn’t even use a brush! She used her fingers! Which when she was done, my hair had static everywhere and looked terrible. The. She says «I know it’s not what you wanted» I was so shocked. When we finished, she took me to the counter and my total was over 200 dollars! AFTER the groupon. She said she forgot to tell me the olaplex was 30 PER BOWL. I couldn’t afford this as her and I discussed my budget. She knew she messed up, because she was scared to give me the receipt in the first place. The total got knocked down to 90 after she went and talked to who I assumed was the manager. She expressed to me many times that Nicole is her boss. I get that she didn’t want to get in trouble and I’m not trying to get her in any trouble. She’s a brand new stylist that doesn’t have a whole lot of experience. I was at that salon 8 hours. From noon to about 830. I was exhausted. I’m just really bummed out because she had me believing that she could do the hair I wanted, and I’ve never achieved the hair I want. I figured because it was taking so long that it was because she wanted to do it right, I was really there that long because she didn’t really know what she was doing. I mean a customer came in late and asked what time the store was open tomorrow and she had no idea. She said the receptionist stepped out so he couldn’t make an appointment. The receptionist was literally 40 feet from us. I’m not mad at the salon because I watched a ton of other people leave that day with great hair. I’m upset that Palmer isn’t as trained as she needs to be.

I always get nervous every time I get my hair done but after seeing Ansley’s work on FB/​IG, I knew I had to go to her. I’m so glad I did! I’ve only had my hair colored once before I went to her. My hair is naturally jet black. I wanted to go as light as possible and she delivered! Every one was nice and friendly. There’s also a complimentary arm/​hand massage… HEAVEN! Long story short, go to Ansley and you won’t regret it!

After coming to Aura Hair & Makeup Salon for a year now, I can say that my hair looks the best it has ever looked. Tara took my hair shade down a bit with beautiful low lights along with a healthier and younger haircut. The staff and atmosphere are so welcoming and the salon is fun to experience. There are stylists working their talent here! Every shampoo you receive a nice spa-​like experience before your service. You can get a nice relaxing hand massage while you enjoy the soothing recliner massage chair followed by a nice steam towel on your head or face. All part of the service! Sign me up!!! Ahhhh… Now relaxed for the final look! The staff is buzzing around making sure everyone is comfortable like being at a good friends house. Always seem to meet and make new friends at Aura which makes for a fun ladies social hour as well. But the best part is looking and feeling cover girl perfect when I walk out of Aura. :-)
Afterwards I have the best hair day experience and I am happy!

So happy with my hair! Shellie is amazing! I showed her three pictures; one of the cut, the color, and one of the color streaks I wanted and she gave me exactly what I wanted and even had someone go pick up the color for my mermaid teal streaks because they didn’t have it. Everyone was so nice, watched three other girls get their hair colored while I was there and they looked beautiful! Thank you so much! Wonderful experience and obsessed from my hair. This all coming from someone who has had their hair done by the same person for 12 years in Miami…

I have come here twice to get my hair colored and both times I have left mad. I show them pictures of the colors I want and they make it the right color but not the right shade i wanted sky blue and they have me green blue. I don’t even like the color green and I’m getting kinda mad because they aren’t giving me what I’m paying for. I am not normally the one to complain but this is really frustrating! The girls are super nice and really pretty but I mean seriously what else am I supposed to do!

Tried a new salon. Regret it.
I liked the head/​hand massage and fancy chairs for washing but I got the worst hair cut I’ve had in 10 years and a color that was nothing like what I asked for (I even had pics) $ 300 wasted.

None of the staff seems to know what they’re doing, completely overpriced for such sub par work, horrible customer service and there’s never any parking.

Tried this salon twice, both times with my sister. The first time was a great experience. The salon is nice & very comfortable. The ladies there are all so sweet & friendly. We loved our stylist & our hair when she was done with it. Went back 12 weeks later, to the same stylist & had a much different experience.
First she asked if we wanted a deep conditioner… sure, why not? We didn’t ask how much, stupid us assumed a few extra bucks. Nope! $ 20 extra (each) for 4 minutes of deep conditioning. I think that is something she should’ve mentioned to us when she asked about it. It cost me $ 60 for a wash, condition & a trim… just a trim! My sister got hers cut & styled, and while it initially looked good. After she got home & brushed it out she discovered it was cut in a large zig zag in the back. She wore it in a pony tail until she had time to go & pay some one else to fix it.

Briana has been coloring my hair for the past year and it always turns out great. He always listens to what I want and then just makes it even better than I was expecting. I have blonde, fine hair and am very picky about how it is cut and colored so I was excited to find Briana so close to home.

I would be remiss in starting this review without first giving a huge shout out to my stylist, Briana!!! She is the number reason I go to Aura Hair & Makeup as she is not only extremely talented with both cut and color, she is also a stylist who takes the time to listen to her clients and find the best style for the person in her chair.
With that said, I have enjoyed my time spent at Aura Hair & Makeup since I started going over a year ago. The salon itself has a great energy when you walk in and all of the attention to detail that one would expect like hand massages and herbal towel wraps while you’re in the shampoo chair. I’ve referred a number of friends over the past year who also have enjoyed their experiences. I always get compliments on both my cut and color. I would highly recommend to anyone in the area looking for a new place to go and would also HIGHLY recommend Briana if you don’t already have a stylist in mind.

I’ve been going to Aura for a year now. Sometimes my results are better than others but this past time my hairdresser was juggling between several other customers and I felt that she really wasn’t focused on me. This was evident when she finished my hair — way over highlighted. I specifically requested subtlety.
I was asked if I wanted to have a glaze and said no yet it was tacked onto my bill which I didn’t realize until a week later when I was reviewing the receipt. Totally my mistake for not catching but I do feel they nickel and dime me. Time to shop around for someone new.

I’ve seen Madeleine at Aura three times this year, and I love her. I started going to Aura when I wanted to try the Jane Iredale makeup, and Madeleine really impressed me with how she was able to put me together. Getting matched with Madeleine may have just been luck, but she really is personable and delivers what I want each time. Now I’m moving away agaiin, but when I come to town to visit family I will try to fit in hair appointments.
I find the staff to be fun and helpful, and the price for highlights is the best I’ve seen in the area, especially for the quality delivered.

Absolutely love this salon. I see Briana, and she is amazing. My color always turns out wonderfully and she is incredibly concerned about the quality of my hair. I always feel amazing after I leave this place :)

I visited Aura about a month ago for a drastic change in my hair color, I wanted to be a blonde! I decided to go to Aura because I couldn’t get in at my usual place, I called pretty last minute to get an appointment they were very helpful in that area because I couldn’t get an appointment ANYWHERE! I got there and as you walk in, it seems really nice, not top notch fancy but more laid back have gossip at the beauty shop kinda place which I like. I met with my hair dressed she seemed nice, I didn’t like the fact she kept calling me babe every five seconds though when we just me. It was strange. I told her I wanted all over color and we looked through some pictures, the normal stuff and figured it out. So I sat down ready to get started, she asked me if I wanted the color packed in, of course I said yes, I don’t want it half way done. I thought that is what we just talked about? I proceeded to tell her that I tend to wear my hair up a lot so I don’t want the top half blonde and the bottom brown. She passively said oh a full set takes a while. I just sat there. It took nearly 4 hours to get my hair done. When we got through washing we went to dry my hair, I could tell the minute I sat down, hair wet and all that I already didn’t like it. The more she dried it the more I regretted this decision! The top of my head near my roots was almost bleach blonde I had streaks of almost copper in my hair in 2 certain places, and the color was just all over the place nothing looked right at all. You could even tell she didn’t like it, she kept asking me oh do you like it, are you sure? Just over and over again. Needless to say, I went somewhere else the next day and got it redone and it looked way better for a way better price.
Overall– It’s a nice place I just wouldn’t go back. I personally don’t like having my hair which I just paid over $ 200 for to have all different colors in it, that’s not what I asked for at all.

I recently moved to the area, and was apprehensive about trying a new hair salon since I love my current stylist. I passed by this salon when going to a dance studio and thought the atmosphere looked great, and was curious. I booked an appointment with Lindsey, and definitely do not have any regrets! Lindsey is very talented and takes her time to get to know you and what you want. She put shape and beautiful blonde back into my hair! Added perks — you can have a complimentary glass of wine, the hair washing sinks are comfortable on your neck and the chairs massage you, you get a free parrafin treatment, and they wash your rings for you! The prices are very reasonable for the talent and level of service. I will be a regular! Thanks Lindsey!

I cheated on my hairdresser of 5 years and I have not regretted it.
I came to Aura because my mom was seeing a stylist there. At the time they were running a ½ off promotion on Monday’s and as an underemployed (at the time) recent graduate… I thought what the hell!
I was paired with Noelle, a young hair genius. She is the only stylist i’ve ever seen that has spent so much time and attention to me and my hair. I don’t know what she does but she sees the final product before it ever happens. I have left every single time with the «best hair cut/​color ever.» Simply put, she listens, uses her creativity and finds exactly what you want… even if you cannot articulate it.
I’ve had such a good experience with Noelle and the salon that I have sent my sister, fiancé, brother and two other friends to go see her and each person has seen her since.
In terms of atmosphere… the music is fun, but never too trendy… they offer Parafin wax hand treatments and aromatherapy towels with each session… employ friendly, fun staff and always run fantastic specials.

About a year ago I stopped by to have my platinum roots touched up and boy, do I regret it! I walked out with a golden ring around my head and looked completely ridiculous.
The second my hair was washed and I could see what was going on, I asked my stylist to please correct it. She complied… sort of. Instead of continuing to lift the color out around my whole head though, she did only the areas I could immediately see — leaving the nape of my neck, and the back of my head with golden splotches. Which is a pretty stupid move, considering the fact that the longer you wait to fix this sort of problem, the harder it is to get your follicles to re-​open enough to lift color.
Not a single word was spoken to me about the fact that my hair was still golden everywhere else, and she didn’t even offer to have me come back in to continue fixing it — a completely unprofessional move.
Having been a long-​time patron of some of the top salons in Chicago and Minneapolis, I can tell you with all certainty that these stylists are either: 1) Not properly and thoroughly trained, or 2) They simply suck.
Save your money, save your hair, and visit another salon with better trained staff.

In an update to my earlier posting, I have no animosity towards this salon other than the fact my hair was ruined and my stylist, Erin, told me that she was «cutting on emotion» when she realized she had not cut it or colored it correctly. Erin immediately had me make an appointment to come back three days later to try and correct the cut/​color which I did and it looked worse afterwards. I spoke with the salon and sent them emails letting them know I was unhappy as they had also cut my son’s hair the same day and the job was so bad that they didn’t charge me. It is highly unprofessional for Tara to have her clients slander me, even though I have never met them. My review stands firm and the salon is very aware that three clients that I referred to them no longer visit the salon due to poor color jobs by the same «Redken trainer» that cut and colored my hair.

Tara, the owner of the salon has always done my hair whenever I am visiting Atlanta. She now has her own salon, and expects only the highest of standards from her staff. I don’t know who Kelly is, but the fact that she didn’t mention who did her hair or try to see if Aura could fix it, makes me wonder if she just has some anamosity for the salon. Tara has a top Redken color trainer working under her, and tara herself is highly skilled in color. there is no way they would let anyone leave the salon with bad hair.
The best thing is. that the team offers realistic advice and will work with you if they feel a style you want will not make you look like a million bucks! Trust me. she has made me change my mind on styles. and I thank her for it. I even hadher fly to Chicago to do my hair for my wedding!
This salon is worth any penny. oh yeah. before I forget… the massaging shampoo chairs and head massage are out of this world. Go for a Blow Dry to check the place out!
