Elite Event: A Night with John Andretti

Talk about good food and good times with great people! I really had a great time at this event. The Andretti racing center is something I’ve always wanted to try but never had a chance to make it out to. Im so glad I made it to this event.
We walked in and signed up for the membership and also signed our lives away on the waiver. I walked around and got a look at all of the game choices as well as the new attraction they were premiering. I definitely think this would be a fun date option.
The food was good. I’m not a big red meat guy but that beef they had was so flavorful and succulent. I had to go back for more. The bread was good with the cheese. The asparagus wrapped in meat had just the right amount of salt and most of the featured drinks were really good.
We got to meet and take a picture with John Andretti. He was super cool and down to earth. I met some great people that night. The environment of this event was very conducive to networking and fellowship. The bartenders kept the drinks pouring which kept a smile on my face. There was a good mixture of Unilocalers and other people that were attending the event from their own companies. I enjoyed the dessert options. I tried the wall climbing and that was scary but fun! I didn’t make it that high up but I’ll blame that on my bad shoulder.
I definitely plan to go back o this place soon. Thank you Unilocal for putting together such a great event!

Wowzers! Such a fun event. Its definitely going on the list as one of my favorite Unilocal events of all time! My brother and I had a blast. We really got to experience the best of both worlds. We were able to partake in a very lovely reception with great food and desserts and then we tried to play all of the games in the venue until we were nice and exhausted.
After enjoying the reception, we headed into the game area and my brother and I played as many games as we could. Some of our favorites were the arcade basketball, air hockey, and the driving games. We did not get a chance to do the ropes course but I definitely plan to return to Andretti’s soon in order to try it out.
Would highly recommend going here and bringing lots of friends. Its a great place to go on the weekend or to celebrate a special occasion. Such a great space with something for everyone. The event, the location, and Heidi deserves 5 stars!!!

Oh Heidi. You do put on some pretty awesome events. Where else could you get an invite to a pretty swank VIP ribbon cutting event? Lots of great food, drinks, and the chance to meet John Andretti. And acrobats!
When I showed up at 4pm for this event, I was expecting to just drive a go-​kart and maybe play some games. I was not expecting the fancy schmancy event. We had to sign our life away with not one, but two waivers. You know it’s going to be a good time when you have to sign two waivers. Once you signed in, we went to the front desk to get a free one year membership at Andretti’s that gives you discounts on future races. The races are pretty pricey so any discount is a nice treat. After having our picture taken and getting our cards, we headed over to the main event room. We walked down our red carpet and had another picture taken. This time we got a super cool magnet with our pictures to remember the event.
The main party room was filled with lots of food stations, a big bar in the middle, and a stage with some musicians. We were treated seafood, pasta, carved meat, bbq sundaes. The drinks were flowing. They also had some dessert stations with two types of pie, cake and sorbet with champagne.
We were there to celebrate the opening and ribbon cutting of their new ropes course. There were a few acrobats doing crazy things up in the air on ropes. After the ribbon cutting, we had the opportunity to get autographs and pictures with John Andretti.
After all of the festivities ended, we headed over to the go carts to do a bit of racing ourselves. This was probably the highlight of my evening. I haven’t been in a go cart in years and never ones that go as fast as the ones here.
We headed over to the new sky ropes course after driving around. We got to go on the ropes for free at the event. The course looks tiny from the floor, but is plenty big enough once you are up there. I am not one for heights so I did an abbreviated ropes course.
They also have lots of games to play. They gave us $ 10 on our cards to have some fun. Several of the people in our group were intent on getting as many tickets as they could for some prizes. I spent a lot of time playing air hockey. My apologies to the people at the table next to us. I kept knocking the puck onto their table. Oops. Also apologies for getting the puck stuck inside the table. That one wasn’t me.
Thanks to Heidi for getting us into this awesome event! I can’t wait for the next one!

A night to remember! This event was located at «Andretti’s Indoor Karting and Games». The event celebrated the Andretti’s anniversary and was kicked off with a ribbon cutting ceremony with Cirque Du Soleil dancers hovering like angels, twisting and spinning into long gauzy pieces of silk that hung from the ceiling. The theme music from «The Phantom of The Opera» played as glasses clinked and the audience applauded. Spectacular!
All attendees were given a name badge and had our photos taken for a free year membership! We were also given a $ 10 game card to use freely thoughout the arcade.
On the way to the back room photographers stopped us in our tracks to pose for photos which were made into magnets for us to take home.
The back event room was a large spacious room with small tables set up featuring antipastas, a carving station, and beautiful spreads of cheeses, dips, and nifty nibbles. The bartenders and staff were courteous and professional and offered an assortment of cocktails. Dessert tables were set out in the hall, offering champagne, cake, and dessert «shots» of key lime pie and raspberry sorbet.
A very talented man played the saxophone as everyone mingled. It was awesome! The Andretti family was a delight and John Andretti took time to pose for pictures and sign autographs.
So on to the fun stuff!
The arcade hosted a variety of games such as «Dance, Dance, Revolution», Car racing, «Connect Four», Trivia, bowling, basketball, «Pac Man», table air hockey, and more! There was even a lobster tank game where people could try to grab a lobster with a mechanical claw. If you got the lobster, they cook it for you! If you win a game, you won tickets, which were electronically added to your swipe card.
The bigger attractions included:
Race car driving: The cars simulate 60 mph and you must sign a waiver and wear protective head gear.
The Sky Trail: A series of tight ropes and planks suspended 30 feet in the air was set up for folks to tight walk across. You are strapped to a harness so it is safe but still requires some sense of coordination and balance.
Cosmic Rock wall climbing: A rock wall with glow in the dark rocks with 3 levels of difficulty. I really loved this! Again, you are strapped into a harness that takes you gently and safely back to the ground as you descend.
This was a wonderful night full of great activities! Thank you Heidi for planning yet another awesome event!

I think this is my second OTP Unilocal event? Heidi has yet to disappoint in her events. The event itself was a VIP opening in conjunction with an industry type event that was held with other professionals so that was pretty neat to mingle with other people outside of the Unilocal world.
Check in was a little confusing, a table full of people checking people in and the lone intern sitting at the end of the table. I actually checked in with the wrong person but they still accommodated me so that was nice of them. I hope she didn’t think I had an attitude with her when she didn’t find my name on her list. WHoops.
But Andretti pulled out all the stops for us, made everyone feel very welcomed. Plenty of people in the front to greet, workers directing you all over the place if you looked anywhere remotely lost.
When you first checked in, they gave us our badges, game card with $ 10 pre-​loaded, and a VIP membership for karting which knocks off a couple of dollars for the races valid for the entire year, passes for rock climbing, and also a free pass for the sky-​walk. The new rope course that spans across majority of the play area. How cool is that?
The event itself consisted in the back conference-​like area. As for food items go: a sampling of meats, cold pastas, choices of olives, poached salmon, and also poke type samples served in small glasses (salmon, tuna and shrimp) I think the tuna was pretty amazing.
One amazing thing about this event: open bar. Now if you don’t know me, I don’t drink. But I’m one to understand how awesome that is. 6 choices of beer, wine selection, wide selection of liquor for whatever you may want. It was spread around the main center column of the room so the guys had their spread amongst 4 tables which I felt bad when someone had to make a long island because they would have to hit 3 of the 4 tables just to make one drink. But roughly 6 person manned the station so drinks were being delivered promptly.
As for dessert, it was actually hosted outside of the conference room. Samples of blueberry pie and key lime pie, fresh fruit in waffle cones, cake, and also lemon sorbet with champagne.
After people got situated, John Andretti himself spoke to the crowd. After his speech, he did walk around to greet people, take some pictures and even gave some autographs. To top it off, he also arranged an acrobatic show in the main area next to the registration. Think of a 3 person circus de solei rope acrobatic show. It was pretty cool to see also with two live violinist playing that provided live music.
It was a great event overall. I had a lot of fun meeting new people from OTP, john andretti himself, and also got a magnet with one of my friends as a keepsake. I always liked andretti’s and now they just even upped themselves. What’s next for them?

Never would I ever would have thought that I would have shared space with one of the racing greats of our time. Awesome.
The event was a VIP grand opening for the sky trail that is suspended right above the main floor. When we entered boo and I were given all the things we needed for the evening: a pit pass loaded with $ 10, a VIP pass with our fab pics on it that is good for a year and gives discounted races for a year.
The food and bar spread were spectacular. The open bar was bomb dot com and the bartenders were so very gracious. I smoozed with Elites and ladies from the Roswell Historical society. I ate fruit drizzled with Grand Marnier from a waffle cone. Yes, this was awesome.

Heidi has raised the bar yet again in Unilocal events, and in this case raised it 30′ overhead! What a fantastic night! I had no idea what to expect, and would never have imagined how amazing the spread and the event would be.
First clue, fabulous Red Carpet. The photographer at the end of the red carpet almost seemed like paparazzi. «Why yes, I am Unilocal Elite…» The room was beautiful, attractive formal stations set up carefully and attended well to by the staff all evening long. Live jazz set the mood all night long. The food was fantastic. The bar was fully stocked, and fully manned with friendly bartenders. The entire staff here provided incredible customer service for the entire event.
The event itself was for the ribbon cutting of the newest installment to Andretti’s attractions, The SkyTrail, a rope course directly over the action of the arcade. The ribbon cutting was preceded by a wonderful acrobatic show by women with some pretty good upper body strength. John Andretti was there to sign autographs and shake hands, he was personable and very friendly to all.
There was food, there was booze, there was music, there was racing, there were ropes, there was fun and games; and then there was the champagne and lemon sorbet… What if i would have died on the rope course and never tried this??? My life would not have been complete. To think I almost missed it. (I am sorry if you did, i tried to spread the word) How could I not know about this amazing, dessert/​drink/​thing?
Red carpet, fast cars, fancy dining, free booze, women in tights, throw in some rope. Sounds like a typical Monday night, huh?
As I said earlier, Heidi keeps raising the bar higher and higher with these events, and at 30′ above an arcade I can’t imagine it getting any higher, but somehow I think Heidi will do it!

Andretti’s is a great place to go anyway, through in a Unilocal event, some great food, and a sprinkle of friends and now you have a recipe for an awesome time.
I skipped the full racing suite and after receiving instructions about safety, I jumped into the nearest go-​kart. «Go Speed Racer, Go!!!» Oh man I love these things. Driving around a course filled with twists and turns trying to pass everyone and not get passed yourself, the crashes, the fish-​tailing, this is way better than racing the soccer moms on 400.
They also have a very nice selection of video games. From the old school Galaga and Pac-​Man to the latest and greatest racing sims. I also spent some time at the bar that overlooks the race course.
Great event, I can’t wait for the next one.

There were a lot of people at this event who were very excited to meet John Andretti. That’s really cool! I, however, was not among them. It’s quite possible that I elbowed Mr. Andretti on my way to the pasta station and had no idea who he was. Or maybe I didn’t see him at all? I’ve heard he’s rather small in stature.
What I’m saying here is that I’m not a racing fan. But I still had an amazing time at this explosively fun, hi-​octane event!
How cool is it that Unilocalers got a free 1-​year membership just for showing up to this event? That discounts the pricing for cart racing. Badass. I get to spend a lot more time at Andretti’s this year.
We also received a generous allotment of $ 10 to spend on the various arcade games. I was surprised at how many activities I was able to take part in before the funds ran out. We played ski ball, air hockey, basketball and a variety of video games. I lucked out and won 500 tickets playing Wheel of Fortune. We cashed them in at the prize counter for a couple of stuffed unicorns for a friend’s kiddos at the end of the night.
The food and libations were top notch. I especially enjoyed the ceviche «shots» and had one of each salmon, tuna and shrimp. Delicious! The carving station, pasta table and mini desserts were also delightful. There was plenty to eat and a nice variety of choices. The free bar was icing on the cake. (Also, there was cake.)
It was a treat to see Unilocalers with red name tags mixing and mingling with the other VIPs that Andretti’s had invited to the event. We made some new friends and caught up with some old ones.
This was a well coordinated event that required a high level of execution to pull off – and it was flawless. I’m so happy to have been able to take part and look forward to returning to Andretti’s soon to take further advantage of my shiny new membership!

Heidi apparently knows some people and has connections. This was an amazing Unilocal event. We all had the opportunity to meet John Andretti, take a photo with him, and get an autograph. I got two autographs, but let’s keep that one a secret. It was a nice experience meeting and briefly chatting with him. We were talking about Mario Kart, how cool is that? He personally told me that he uses Toad. I use Toad too so it’s reassuring that I’ve been selecting the right character this whole time and not some dinosaur like Yoshi.
There was a nice assortment of some pastas, different types of meat, and an open bar! The go karts were a lot of fun. I think about nine of us Unilocalers took the track together and went for a spin. I can’t believe I left my banana peels and green shells at home! I was so pumped once I put on the full suit and helmet. These karts can move at 45mph.
If I were to issue one critique, it’s the free $ 10 game card that was given to me. Sounds awesome doesn’t it? Yeah, I wish that wasn’t given to me as I was going bonkers trying to get enough tickets to get the Hello Kitty stuffed animal. Let’s stop right there, it’s not for me! Seriously, I was getting frustrated spinning the wheel and it looks like your going to win 1,000 tickets but then there’s one more tick and now you’ve won 25 tickets instead! Well the debit card came out a number of times. Ok, I know this isn’t a legitimate gripe here as the game card was free and I know I had enough points for the mini Hello Kitty stuffed animal, but I really wanted the bigger one!
When I wasn’t trying to earn tickets for the Hello Kitty, I was schooled in air hockey by Tanya C. At one point during the game when I was winning, I was contemplating the idea of switching careers and thought about becoming a professional air hockey player but Tanya C crushed that dream!
This was such an awesome event and special thanks to Heidi (and her intern Sarah). I may lapped her once or twice, probably three times on the course, but she’s #1 for hooking this up!
Bye the way, are the elite event reviews excluded from the ROTD algorithms? I hope it’s excluded, I’d hate for all of Atlanta to see how desperate I was for the Hello Kitty stuffed animal. I’d probably move back to Providence at that point.

Fantastic event! So well organized and done. Thanks to all that made it happen.
The «ball room» was well laid out, appetizers were done fantastically and between moving back and forth from from high end ballroom atmosphere with jazz ensemble to the carts and games worked the inner kid and the inner adult at the same time (insert Adam Sandler scene here).
Didn’t get to try the new trail but it did look interesting.
Did get to race and I did whoop butt. Woot woot! How cool was getting a free VIP license thing? Thanks for that!
Like someone else I didn’t get to meet John at the event but it didn’t detract at all from the event itself, had a fantastic time! The Unilocal freebies were a nice touch in addition to the free food and drink. It doesn’t get any better than that folks! *chomps on a Unilocal mint

ABSOLUTELY THE BEST EVENT, like ever!!! As soon as I checked in with Heidi, I knew I was in for a real treat. I went to the booth to take a picture for my membership card (yay! discounts!) and got loaded up $ 10 to be used towards games (yay! games!) and the rope obstacle course.
From there, there was a red carpet that led us to the back area where there was a guest speaker, open bar, and sooooo muchhhhh foooood! I can’t even begin to describe how amazing it was. Tuna tartare, salmon, shrimp, a carving station, assortment of pastas and bread, bbq chicken/​pork, dessert station… did I stumble in on a wedding or something? OH! And you can’t forget the magnets! How cool is that? Oh! And the acrobat show! In the middle of the room!!! So awesome!
Honestly I don’t think I’ve experienced an OTP event quite like it. Hands down the BEST yet! Thank you sooooooooo much Heidi for this unforgettable event! Me and the boyfriend are already planning a trip back… b/​c honestly, who doesn’t love cosmos and video games? ;)

Oh what a night. This was my first time at Andretti’s and the place is huge. As I walked around there seemed to be more and more to do. I wanted to play the 4 Player Super Trivia and there it was. Have a taste for seafood, you can have fresh crab in the grill restaurant. Friendly basketball competition… let’s get it on! The place covered all bases. Even the staff were awesome, attentive and plentiful! Great job in putting this one together Heidi. I was even able to meet John Andretti himself (see picture 48).
I tried the wall climbing but did not fall probably and pushed off the wall. Big mistake, do not push off or you will end up on your ass like I did. I will be back to race the cars and zip line. The Ribbon Cutting Ceremony was memorable as this was the grand opening for the Sky Trail. Yes, directly above the games, 30 feet in the air, people will now be walking on tight ropes above your head. Watch-​out now! This event was one of the best Unilocal Event’s I have attended. I had a blast. Living in Atlanta off and on for 10 years now, I had heard so much of the place but had not visited. But now, I am a fan of An… dretti’s that is.

I felt like a kid again — and that is a feeling I want to have over and over. More Elite Events like this please, Goddess Heidi!
Lucky for me, my job is contract work and I work from home, so an early start time did not phase me at all. I was there at the start and ready to enjoy everything there was to offer at Andretti Indoor Karting and this spectacular VIP event.
Because I’m me, I’ll start with the food and drink. Open bar (beer, some signature cocktails, as well as just about anything else you could think of in a high ball glass) and so much yummy food I just didn’t know where to start — so I started with the Steamship Round. Let me tell you — this was the biggest one I have ever seen — the carver looked like a dwarf from Middle Earth next to it. It was succulent with the perfect salty, spicy crust. They had a basket of crusty rolls (with the perfect soft middle) and horseradish sauce (and later mustard, but the mustard was substandard in comparison to the rest). I think I had at least 3 of these little sammies.
Next up was the seafood table — I had to abstain, of course, but there was salmon and shrimp and tuna, oh my! I moved along to the antipasti station (good thing they had 2 of these!). Salami, prosciutto wrapped asparagus (yay), cold pastas, artichoke hearts and breads. There was also a barbecue sundae station (no, that’s not a typo). Layered barbecue, slaw, pickle and onion strings (pick pulled pork or chicken). Also, delicious.
Dessert gave options of key lime pie shooters (the curd was runny and had an odd after taste), blueberry pie shooters (packed with fresh blueberries), fresh fruit with waffle cones, sherbet with champagne and white cake. Decent dessert options, but nothing to write home about.
Also, quite amazing was the opportunity to meet the man himself, John Andretti. Such a personable guy, he spoke to each of us, signed our cards and posed for pictures like a trooper. So delightful and funny.
For a novelty, there was a photographer from Mag-​nificent Instant Photo Magnets (
). He would take your picture as you walked up the red carpet and a few minutes later you were immortalized in photo-​magnet form. Such a cute idea. This was a new keepsake I had not seen before at an event and it is a nice take away to remember the evening.
As for the facilities, it was so much fun! Upon check in, we each received a $ 10 card (good for blue and yellow games) and a free trek on the newly christened Sky Trail. Plus, we also each got a 1 year membership to Andretti — I cannot wait to put this to use.
A group of us started out on the Adult race course and man was this a blast — speeds up to 35 MPH. I wish they had taken time to give us more of a tutorial (I got lapped a few too many times for my taste). But it was still a lot of fun. Next, we hit the Sky Trail (I skipped this because of my distaste of heights). Instead I watched the other Unilocalers enjoy the fun in the harnesses from below.
Off to the video games and ticket collecting! This was a lot of fun — from head-​to-​head Pac-​Man, to life-​sized Fruit Ninja, to Wheel of Fortune — this sparked more camaraderie as people tried to help me win a silly stuffed Hello Kitty!
As usual, Heidi is an amazing Hostess, even if this was nothing she planned herself. But getting us the opportunity to be invited/​included in such an amazing event was quite the coup. Thanks again, Heidi P.

I don’t know how Unilocal Goddess Heidi was able to swing it, but we got to eat, drink, and mingle with John Andretti at Andretti Indoor Karting & Games last night. We received free photo-ID’ed racing licenses (good for a one year membership to Andretti), «VIP» access to the party and the new ropes course (SkyTrail Discovery), and game cards loaded with $ 10 for use on the arcade machines.
I showed up late because of work, so I missed out on the Cirque-​du-​Soleil-​like acrobatics show and John Andretti addressing the crowd, but I did show up on time for the impressive layout of foods and the open bar. A photographer was on hand at the entrance to the party area. He took photographs which were later converted into free photo magnets. Nice. A two-​man live jazz band performed throughout the duration of the evening.
John Andretti schmoozed with the crowd and, understandably, was a very popular guy. However, he was kind and gracious enough to take the time to speak, sign personalized autographs, and take photos with anyone who approached him. He had a Sharpie already in hand for autographs. We were given commemorative Andretti card stock on the way in for him to sign. I don’t care much about autographs, but I do like photos. While I’m not a racing fan, I still have a huge amount of respect for what Andretti has been able to accomplish in his sport.
The food spread reminded me of a hotel/​business convention or country club buffet setup with several different stations. There was a pasta and vegetable station, sort of like an antipasto station, with different kinds of pasta (tortellini, elbow macaroni, penne), artisan breads, and assorted hors d’oeuvres like cured meat-​wrapped asparagus, olives, red peppers, and mushrooms. There was a seafood station with three concoctions all served in small glasses. They involved tuna sashimi and avocado, salmon sashimi, and shrimp.
There was a meat station with a server cutting fresh slices of roast beef (accompanied with horseradish and spicy mustard) and a chicken station with a server serving glasses of fried chicken and coleslaw. The open bar was in the center, stocked with plenty of bartenders and serving up a multitude of drinks. The dessert station contained key lime pie, a blueberry treat, champagne sorbet, and more. I totally wasn’t expecting all of this fine food at the event. This was different than my last experience at Andretti’s (
), which also involved a private party and catered food.
After 1 – 2 hours+ of eating, drinking, and mingling, we exited the party area and went to play games. Between the entire Unilocal group, I believe we took part in just about everything Andretti has to offer. This included a super kart race, cosmic rock wall climbing (like cosmic bowling, but rock climbing), the brand new ropes course, and of course, arcade games like giant Connect Four, Dance Dance Revolution, trivia, skee ball, basketball and football skill challenges, timing/​gambling games, the infamous claw crane games, etc. Hours of kid-​like fun were had and many prizes were won.
If it wasn’t a work night, I’m sure many of us would’ve stayed much later and perhaps into the wee hours of the morning. Thank you, Heidi, for organizing a highly enjoyable and active OTP event. From deco-​themed shindigs to behind-​the-​scenes looks at farmers markets to go-​karting, games, and meeting a racing legend, I absolutely love the variety. Also thanks to two-​week-​old intern Sarah G. for helping out.

So much fun you’ll forget you left your bird in the dark and you have to wake up at 5am! (I’m being lovingly scolded by the bird as I write this.)
As soon as I saw this event listed I was like this has my name aaaaaaall over it. Andretti was one of the first places I ever came to around here and I grew up knowing who Mario Andretti is from a book my parents had signed by him (also if he was the one at this I would have been unable to get out of the car in the parking lot), and yeah I love racing. Simple as that. I always stare at the giant McLaren on the wall in the arcade.
I did not know what to expect from this. I know their restaurant has gone through a couple transformations and I figured that’d be where this was taking place and there’d be a couple things, maybe wine and beer. Well I was not prepared for the back room back there. Legitimately it was SO NICE you would have thought it was a wedding reception.
In the middle was of course the open bar with a ton of liquor too, they had a special drink for the event that had cotton candy vodka, and there were a couple others but none as good as that one. And the food! It was straight up catered with a carving station, a whole fish! pastas, bbq, cake, this lemon sorbet and champagne, it was just amazing.
Then the whole reason behind the event was the ribbon cutting for the Sky Trail. They had four trapeze artists perform. It was kind of hard to see the ones on the actual trapeze but one of the two on the ribbons was easier to see and damn that was impressive.
I totally bombed it on even meeting John Andretti because I had to of course get started talking about racing… and then he was gone. And then he was just like hiding out in the VIP room they had. Oh well. I did really want to add to my collection of cards and poster signed by drivers :(
So with this we got $ 10 to play games and one go on this sky course… which I did not do. Chicken. Games were fun though, I’m just sad they don’t have Initial D anymore. I swear I came here to play it a couple years ago. I had to play like Super GT and you can’t really drift things around… but we did end up doing a go kart race! It’s so expensive but how can you come here and not?
i kind of drifted my go kart. Oh god halfway through I just lost the ability to turn the wheel. I just realized my back just a tad from bouncing around. But it’s always so worth it… actually the most worth it part was Heidi, Sarah, and David in their race coveralls.
Ok maybe the best part was picking out stuff with the tickets from games. I got a bit too nostalgic and it’s very hard to fit child mouth size neon vampire teeth in your adult mouth (though what kid has 3 front teeth). And I have bubbles now. I don’t know why but it felt like a good idea at the time.
I am going to work up my arm muscles (need to find out what the acrobatics girls do) and come back.
And one day I will be brave enough to try the F1 simulator. It’s one of the only places in North America to do it but I hate the idea of me spending $ 10 and sucking. We just definitely need to do another event here, clearly!
