La Quinta Inn & Suites Roswell

3 Stars. Clean linen and counter top surfaces, good wifi, moderate acoustics, free breakfast. Tiled floors and bathroom tub show signs of age. AC not working correctly. Halls and public areas not cleaned up after mud tracked in by lazy guests.
The outside of the building looks new, and is far enough away from the main road to minimize night traffic. Inside, at least the 3^rd floor that I’m on, has been remodeled. Refurbished might be a better word. Carpets have been replaced and some of the walls have been painted. Other areas such as tile work and tubs haven’t. They should have replaced the shower curtain, as I could see some type of rust stain on their La Quinta signature shower curtain. It couldn’t have cost them more than a few bucks per unit.
The doors to the rooms use the old fashioned closing mechanism, so the door closes hard. Since there’s a 1 inch ‘mudflap’ on the bottom of the door, it lets the sound of the closing room doors in… louder than at a Mariott or Hampton, etc, that I’m used to staying at.
Since I like to sleep cold, I thought I’d try out the AC/​Heater. Currently left in the Off position, the room indicated a nice 73. Setting it to Cold, and dialing down to 66, nothing happened. One minute later, the unit started, but I couldn’t hear the compressor kick in. Within a minute or two, the unit shut off. I left it alone for awhile and found that the unit starts ever 15 – 20 minutes, runs for one or 2 minutes, and then shuts off. In the summer, this would be an outright failure. Fortunately, La Quinta allows one to open the windows, so opening 6″ on a night that would get to 22 °F would prove to be adequate. As for heating, the following morning I set the unit to Heat and dialed it up to 68. One can detect a slight amount of heat coming from the unit. For most that require heat, this would prove to be inadequate on cold evenings such as last night.
Cleaning: There were a number of spots on the floor that, with a little elbow grease, could have been cleaned. I tried one of these myself inside the shower just to confirm. These ‘spots’ leave one to feel as if the room was inadequately cleaned, and would probably upset feminine types or clean freaks. Unfortunately, it also appears as if there isn’t anyone cleaning up after those who fail to wipe their feet at the hotel entrance, and drag dirty slush or mud into all areas of the hotel. I noticed evidence of this in the entrance, in front of and inside the elevator, and down the hallway of the 1^st floor as I was waiting on the attendant while she was checking in another guest.
A little more effort cleaning the tile, tub, and replacing the shower curtain could have gotten this review to a 4.
Next Time: Will there be a next time? Perhaps, but it would depend on the time of year, and the outside temperature. Probably NOT during a warm/​hot summer day, since the AC will probably be inadequate. Probably NOT if with family, as the tiled floors look dirty.

My faith in La Quinta has been restored! Very nice hotel, beautiful room, friendly staff. Updated colors — not the typical funky yellow LQ colors. Bed was very comfortable, high ceilings in the room made it feel even larger than it was. Breakfast had a good variety, breakfast room was comfortable. My only slight complaint is that the hallways are tiled, rather than carpeted, and the sound travels from the front desk and breakfast room down the hallways.

Been here twice. Both times the room was clean and nice. Breakfasts never ran out. If you’re a member you can take dogs with no extra charge. One of the better kept La Quintas.

Our room was very clean, not a single hair laying around! It smelled clean & fresh, but not like cleaning supplies were laying around.
The staff are very friendly and professional. They are updating the building, but the areas being updated are closed off & the areas in use are updated. It’s not noisy, you cannot hear the updates in progress. It’s well insulated. It’s a very nice hotel.
The breakfast is delicious, including sausage and such. The pool is a bit discolored, but that is entirely from age & will be restored at a later date. It’s actually very nice, it’s at perfect temperature, unlike many other indoor pools that have been too cold! The hot tub is also perfect. The price is very inviting also.

I’m giving this hotel a break because they were under a major renovation /​construction, which was advertised on their front desk. The person at the check-​in counter was helpful and friendly, the room was clean and nice (and smelled weird, so I used some Febreze) and the free breakfast was outstanding. The pool and hot tub looked green so I didn’t get in. My wife and I did use their «gym,» which had a treadmill, elliptical and stationery bicycle.
The price seemed fair, and I’m sure when the construction is done this place is going to be fabulous.

I was in Roswell for one night for business and stayed here. I appreciated being able to check in earlier than the usual 3 pm check in time to drop off my bag and hang a change of clothing. This is an older La Quinta, with smaller rooms compared to more recent additions to their chain. The reception/​breakfast area was under construction, but only during the day did anyone hammer or drill. I was also given a room on the second floor far away from the construction. My room was nice, with a larger than expected desk. The wifi worked fine on my iPhone, but not at all on my laptop. If I had a stronger need for wifi, I would have been pretty disappointed on this. The manager replied with a standard «we’ll have someone look into it» when he asked about my stay on checking out.
There is a small indoor pool, I didn’t have time to use. Breakfast was adequate. This hotel is a little off the main strip of hotels and restaurants, but close to a Wal-​Greens and also New Mexico Military Institute. I would consider staying here again, but also trying another hotel.

The staff is friendly and helpful. For the price it is a good find, but the older appointments and weird stains make it feel more like an motel.

Say waaahhh??? Why would I give 4 stars to La Quinta Inns & Suites. I’ll tell you why…
On our recent road trip back home my husband wanted to stop in Roswell to check out their UFO museum. I hadn’t planned for it and we did not have any reservations. I was worried since it was the Thanksgiving weekend there would be few options for accommodations. Not to mention that the man-​child refused to believe that museums close on holidays!
Anyway, I went to my trusted and handy dandy Unilocal up and began searching for hotels. However, I had very specific search criteria since we had the four legged child with us.
After some time I came across La Quinta. I called them up and asked about their pet policy. To my surprise they told me they did not have an additional pet charge for small dogs. In addition I was able to get a AAA discount with our last minute booking.
Once we arrived we were warmly welcomed by the desk clerk and given a complimentary gift bag, which contained water and cookies.
We were given a room on the first floor, which I don’t generally like. I’m paranoid about a psycho breaking into our room and killing us (I watch way too many serial killer movies) so I usually like rooms on the 3^rd floor or higher. The 2^nd floor is still too easy to get to, trust me I’ve though this out.
Luckily for us all psychos were on Thanksgiving Holiday and our night couldn’t have been any more peaceful.
The hotel also had plenty of grassy areas outside where the little one could relieve herself. As for our room, it was clean and quiet.
We plan on returning to Roswell and whether we have the little one or not I will be making our reservations at this La Quinta for our further stay.

Roswell was the fourth La Quinta in my trip from Miami to Southern Utah and has so far been the nicest one. Our room was very quiet and clean. It was also the biggest room out of the four. The staff was very professional and friendly and were kind enough not to kick us out of the hotel because of the straight up Michael Vick style dog fight that happened in our room. I would happily stay there again if I was traveling through Roswell with or without dogs. I can’t say that about the other LQs.

Older hotel, somewhat dated, but a good value for the money. Breakfast is not great, but the place is clean, and that goes a long way. Slow wifi. It is what it is. 3 stars.

Stayed here for the Roswell UFO Festival. Enjoyed our stay. The bed was comfortable, the fridge was nice to have. I just wish they had more outlets near the bed for our phones. We were hoping to visit the indoor pool, but the lining look a bit «green». So we weren’t sure if it was algae or just discolored.
We rented a car bc we weren’t sure how far everything would be. There was a Walgreens at the corner, and everything else was within a couple of secs drive.
Now for the memorable part of the hotel. We call her the breakfast lady, Debra. She assisted us w the microwave in the common eating area. She is such a sweet lady and very helpful. Be sure to chat it up w her.
Overall, I would stay here again.

I’ve been to many hotels/​inns lately since I’m traveling across country with my husband, 2 kids, and an 85lb german shepherd. There are not many hotels that take large dogs and not charge a fee so this was great. Last hotel I was in doesn’t allow you to leave your dog in the room alone. La quinta inn surprisingly allows you to do so as long as your dog is not a nuisance to other guests. I love that because if I want to go out to eat I don’t want to leave my dog in the car. This hotel has free breakfast and it’s not just some crappy bagel and muffin, it’s a full breakfast. They also have a pool and fitness center. The actual room I didn’t expect too much since most places that accept dogs are basic but this specific location has a good size bathroom and bedroom. The room also includes a microwave and fridge which my last quinta inn in dallas did not have. Overall I’m pretty happy with this stay.

Friendly, helpful staff. Located close to Walgreens, and some fast food places. Comfortable beds, and pillows! Bathrooms and free breakfast are decent. About 6 minutes to UFO museum. Order food from Big D’s, really good sandwiches and burgers. It’s very quiet, even though it is pet friendly, every now and then I heard people through the walls. Felt safe parking my car there. Enjoy Roswell.

Excellent service, Jeanette at the front desk is gorgeous and very friendly and professional! Small problem with our air conditioning unit, and Bob the manager discounted one of our rooms! Highly recommended.
