North Fulton Hospital

The first day I went to North Fulton I was in terrible pain in my side. I drive myself directly there and checked in no problem. I was given a CT scan saying I have kidney stones but they shouldn’t hurt ?? I was given pain medicine and zofran for vomiting. I noticed a rash at one point on my stomach that I didn’t have before. I asked for Benadryl. Told the dr and she said it looked ok. They released me. Next day I was completely inflamed. Horrible pain everywhere and still hurting on my side. The rash spread everywhere. i went to my pcp and he just added medicine on top of what I already had and never liked at the rash. I felt worse. That night I couldn’t take anymore — I called the hospital and said I think I had a reaction from the pain medicine. They told me to come back. I did and we had the best dr. He talked to me and we narrowed down my medicine. He gave me fluids, looked at the rash and gave me steroids — omg I could finally move my body without pain. It took a few days to heal, but I was so thankful. I don’t know what would of HAPPEND. I couldn’t even roll over. A rash everywhere. Thank you for the 2^nd time around north Fulton!

This is the worst hospital. They put me through several costly tests only to misdiagnose me. It resulted in a second ER visit and then surgery to remove a benign mass along with a Fallopian tube and ovary. After paying for my medical records, it clearly shows the issue was there the first time I came here, they just didn’t bother to tell me! They just want your money.

I have been wanting to write this review for a long time. I, for the first time, went to the er at north fulton about a year ago. I was having chest pain, I do have high blood pressure, a heat murmur (not such a big deal) and have been diagnosed with a condition that requires high levels of the drug Methotrexate. I was having sever enough pain that I called an ambilance, I was afraid to drive. When I got there they were taking my information, symptoms, etc. The nurse was nice but did comment on how people will fake chest pain to get pain med? I have never taken pain medication so I did not understand that comment. I went to have chest x ray and a girl. Who was still learning, questioned the older grey haired tech on something with the paper work, her comment out loud was just go ahead and do it, she is just probably looking for attention. Hmmm, seems like a lot of nonsense to go through for attention, not to mention 2,000 in hospital bills. My blood pressure meds have been upped, and I am being monitored by a cartiologest. With this attitude on more than one level of this er, I would not go if I were actually dying. So scary the attitude of this facility. Er trips are not a common occurrence for me, but this trip made it so I ignore any symptoms because I never want to be treated in such an awful way. Made to feel guilt for pain, unexplained pain, but I was so scared going in. Lost all faith in doctors, nurses and staff if this is how hospitals treat people.

Scary… my mother needed emergency help at her office near 285 and 400, 2 minutes away from Northside Hospital, which she has medical records from in the past. But the EMT (s) said they had to take her to North Fulton Hospital, to the Trauma Center, which they said Northside does not have :-O
The nurses in the ER were wonderful, friendly and doing everything they could to comfort her. And then the doctor walked in, and their attitudes totally changed. Obviously this guy is known by the nurses in bad ways. It changed me and my sister’s comfort and of course, the little bit of our mother’s comfort, considering everything. After four hours, my sister and I were many times told by nurses that she is stable and it would be best that we go rest and be back in the next day.
Our mother, having Osteoporosis, had broken both wrists. So, come the next day, up on the second floor, she was in recovery. It was HELL up there! That is just MY opinion. I personally simply could not imagine the opinions of those who go through that everyday, 24 hours while they are in the hospital! The nurses were amazingly slow at replying to the request for help, no matter what the situation (s) may be. The nurses would be loud every night, as if they were partying at their front desk. They were rude when they came in to check your vitals, except for one particular person my mom made note of. That woman must be new there and just had yet to «fit in». The doctor that did the surgery, 3 days after she first was admitted to the hospital, said he would be in to talk to her 4 times over the next week. He showed up a couple hours after the surgery, while she was still drugged up with pain medications, and we never saw him again. He said she should be out of there (and down to rehabilitation) the next day. She was there for four more days!!!
If I got into the explanations of workman’s comp, I would get heated up again. This was a major stress on her part (no matter how much me and my two sisters did to help, which was the majority of what WE COULD do). The insurance company, of course was looking for every excuse out of it and the person at the hospital in charge of arguing with them did not do much. Luckily, our sister in Washington had a lot experience from a past job working in this exact same position in the past.
Now…Rehabilitation on the first floor was the absolute opposite. It totally turned her around mentally, and she felt most confidence than the last week. They turned her around mentally, and of course physically. Thank you!

Their ER can kill you — they’ll let you wait for 5+ hours even after they realize that your vitals are in the dangerous zone. Mind you, there is only one other patient, a lady who can’t stay upright and is puking her guts out in the waiting area for 3 out of those 5 hours (she came 2 hours after us). Then as even after several requests nobody is there to see you, you leave and are driven to Northside to get help, they won’t bill insurance or send you a bill. No, a year later you try to buy a new car or open a bank account, and you’ll get the funny looks for your what you thought was a pristine credit report, because North Fulton produced a bill for you, never sent it to you, turned it over to collections, who btw also never contacted you. This hospital is a scam, a dangerous one.

Worst ER AND HOSPITAL IN THE AREA! Worth the extra few minutes to go to Kennestone or North Side. I understand they are being sold and can certainly understand why. Not one, not two, but three Horrible experiences over the course of a few years. Will never ever go back there.
The Er staff including the Doctors have the worst attitudes. They will NOT LISTEN period. Example # 1– Christmas Evening– ice and snow storm left my highly downward design driveway Impossible to get out of. Call 911 as person was having reaction to something that was swelling their legs so bad they were literally splitting skin and oozing liquid. Two paramedics and two Fireman fall trying to get down driveway. Takes 6 people including family members to get gurney up iced driveway– Paramedic falls, of course lets go, throws everyone off and patient on gurney is rolling backwards down hill! This is NO JOKE! Get to Er I understand it is Christmas night and staff want to be with their families HOWEVER THIS IS THE JOB THEY CHOOSE TO DO with that said, greeted by the Er doctor who sarcastically comments «what the hell did they have to come by ambulance for, this is ridiculous and takes off– he is the only Er doctor on !! I go chase him down and as politely as possible ask him if he’s looked outside lately or tried to drive I. The past few hours? With a No response I told him to go treat the paramedics who fell trying to get us here! Knowing we were off to a bad start it just continued on spent over six hours with nothing more than some lab work done and my party was sent home with a suggestion to go buy some Benadryl– the persons could not walk, skin split on legs oozing liquid and go by a Benadryl. That was the first $ 5000 Er visit. Second Event — Even worse– patient stops breathing at home-​911 is called– EMT’s are sure it’s a severe asthma attack– NOT — -patient is on a pain management program for various severe issues– get to Er 02 sat levels are 78– 02 applied-​great– lab work ordered — great — two hours pass no one even comes to check ANYTHING– pregnant nurse to busy in the restroom– My turn to use restroom leave Er just getting buzzed out I hear my party screaming! I run to the room where a friend had stayed so party was never left alone. I scream what’s happening what’s wrong — friend says I don’t know they gave her a shot and she started screaming and flailing yanking on her hair screaming the pain help me the pain. I run to get someone. No one can be found. I press call button nothing — finally after literally about 15 minutes pregnant nurse shows up– in the meantime the guard rails had not been put up on the bed my party is screaming writhing in pain almost fell off bed and would have had I and my friend not been there– got their toe nail caught in blankets and was writhing In so much pain it literally tore the toe nail off, blood everywhere. It was a flipping disaster. Prego comes in with a hostile look and attitude and says they gave her a full push of Narcan to completely reverse the pain medication. I learned later that this is used for drug overdose patients as well as for those in septic shock.
NEITHER OF WHICH were the case in this situation. Also learned that NO patient may remain unattended during this procedure. And it is never to be «Pushed» — one full bam of an injection. It should be push a little wait push a little wait till syringe is empty. Side effects on proper use include cardiac arrest– coma and DEATH TO NAME A FEW– having to admit because of the use of this drug pregnant nurse brings sumo wrestler to assist in catheterization who walks by me, looks me straight in the eye and so eloquently stated «this ain’t my first rodeo». No matter what I said or did none of the staff would give me answers the ER DOCTOR WOULD NOT COME TO THE ROOM TO TALK TO ME. My party finally passed out for pain when it reached just above the waist. Still to this day has screaming sweat bath nightmares from this. NO JOKE. I took pictures as they lay their lifeless on the bed including the monitors which alarms kept going off and NO ONE CAME to check on ! Example heart rate 56. BP ⁹⁰⁄₄₅ RESP 11. Yes 11!, and no one helps. Example a few minutes later heart rate 58 BP ⁸⁴⁄₄₂ RESP. 9. 9 person was nearly dead and NOTHING. I TRIED everything to get party transferred to another hospital but because they were unstable NO ONE WOULD transport even signing out AMA– what a nightmare– just when you think it can not get worse– after begging them to call the persons doctors who can explain the illnesses and the need for some of meds (non narcotic as well) that can not just be instantly stopped without risk of seizures coma or death — they refused!!! I left messages everywhere I could got on call staff that needed to speak to her attending that couldn’t or wouldn’t do anything. I would have given 5 stars except for the experience with North Fulton Anesthesiology Associates. I can’t understand why I can be billed for everything on one bill from the hospital, pre-​pay before my surgery and then 50 days later be contacted and threatened with collections. Bill has been paid, but why are they so difficult. Ask the financial counselor and your surgeon if you have a choice. Unfortunately, I don’t have expereince at this, but going forward I do. I am not arguing whether I owe this, but why they have to be so freaking difficult and rude is beyond me. I would go to a different facility to avoid NORTH FULTON ANESTHESIOLOGY.

The hospital provides bad services but extremely high bills. I took an X-​ray there 2 months ago. The images they gave me are NOT clear enough! And the staff I met there showed no care to patients!
And BE AWARE — ALWAYS ASK FOR CASH RATE BEFORE DECIDING ON GOING THROUGH INSURANCE! The hospital sends extremely high bills to insurance company while the cash rate of the service might be only ¹⁄₁₀ or even less than what they send to insurance. But they would NOT tell you if you don’t ask. When you find out that you need to pay much more than the cash rate even after your insurance pays a huge number of money, if you try to negotiate it with the hospital, they would have a very rude and unfriendly representative answering your phone and tell you that bills are NOT negotiable after insurance.
I will never go to this hospital again. And I would NOT recommend it to anybody!

I must say I was a bit scared and skeptical after reading the reviews before arriving to the hospital. I was greeted as I walked through the door and had very attentive nurses and a doctor. They helped me set everything up for my follow up and were very encouraging. It was the cleanest hospital I have been to in years. I am grateful for the people who helped me today.

Walked in filled out paper work and seen by a DR in less than 10 mins! Very nice staff and clean room, thanks ER nurses and dr.

The medical care we received was wonderful. The ER had a long wait, but that’s with all ER locations because people come to the ER when they have a cold.
The nurses and techs are genuinely interested in my Mom and her progress. They were concerned for her comfort and sincere in their care for her. They were gentle. They were patient and humorous. My Mom is a talker and can be very verbose. Not once did any staff rush her. They kept going until they got the information they needed. When my Mom joked they joked back. When Mom was in pain you could see on the staff’s face that they were pained as well.
Thankfully the hospital focuses on medical treatment. The cafeteria is HORRID and is way way OVERPRICED. For a drink a turkey and cheese sandwich and dessert was $ 9. The food served my Mom was consistently ice cold and lacking in taste. Bring food from home or get non fast food and bring it in for your family members.

I came to the ER a few weeks ago as my primary care physician advised me to do so. I waited for a short period of time and was taken to the back and immediately saw a nurse. I saw the ER Doctor shortly thereafter. I was advised I needed an ultrasound and it was performed. Everyone I encountered from the ER/​Hospital were professional and friendly. I was satisfied that I had excellent care. I did have a lot of bruising on my arm from the needles. Also the bill was very high.
If I had another medical emergency I would go back to North Fulton.

I usually find something good to write about, but this time just can’t find one, we have been in this emergency couple of times, but every time we seat in waiting room for hours before getting any attention, it’s a emergency room for god sake!!! Their excuses are out of this world, and after getting in a room, the waiting is just started.

The worst emergency room experience in Atlanta. They’ll throw you in a room and tell you to wait, and you’ll keep waiting even if it’s an infant with difficulty breathing from croup. 20 min waiting for a vacant ER room, 30 minutes for the doctor to come, another 30 min for the nurse, and a final 30 minutes for a discharge. It would have dragged on if I had not gone to the nurse asking why their making me wait. Driving further to the children’s hospital of Atlanta is well worth it.

My Mother fell at her home. An ambulance was called and she was taken to North Fulton Regional. My mom is 67 years old and has NEVER been to the ER nor has she ever spent a night in the hospital except for after giving birth to my Brother and myself.
She fell on her left knee and was in more pain than I’ve ever seen her in. We get to the ER and she’s on the gurney, entire body is shaking. (Horrifying if you’ve never seen your loved one like that). We had a male nurse who had an attitude from the get go. He started with the EMT’S and they just blew it off and looked at us like «don’t worry. …we won’t just abandon y’all in here with this jerk. They hung out for a bit… and before leaving… got his name and signature. After about 30 minutes of my mother laying there, shaking uncontrollably and screaming in pain, I asked the nurse «can you please give her some pain medication»? He looked at me as if I was rushing him saying «first I have to get all her information put into our system». SERIOUSLY??? I BET IF THIS WERE YOUR MOTHER YOU’D BE TYPING A LITTLE FASTER!!! Worse bed side manner I’ve ever seen. No compassion whatsoever! !!!
Finally…pain medication. She got semi comfortable and was X rayed. No breaks… but I have never seen my Mom in so much pain. She has a very high tolerance for pain. I had a bad feeling she may have blown her knee out. An hour later another nurse came in with discharge papers saying… ok, what you have is a sprained knee… keep ice on it and… I said…“excuse me… my Mother does NOT have a sprained knee!!! She just looked at me like a deer in headlights. «I’m sorry mam but that is the doctors diagnosis. I said… well…it’s wrong!!!
Before we left we asked them if they could give my mother another pain shot considering she was still shaking from the pain and VERY uncomfortable. The nurse came back 15 min later with Tortiol. A non narcotic drug. Bullshit!!! Did nothing for her!!!
Fast forward to next day… we get her into Resurgens to get an MRI and find out that she tore her ACL. She has surgery scheduled for Wed. Complete ligament tear. She can’t walk… bend her knee… is completely helpless without us right now and was treated HORRIBLY at this hospital. We were very uncomfortable. …were made to feel as if we were an inconvenience and over reacting, just bad all the way around. The next day I tried to get in touch with the manager in charge of the ER and never got a call back.

Seriously, if I were dying I would probably refuse an ambulance if I knew they were bringing me here so that I could get to any other hospital. I wouldn’t bring my parakeet here.
From ghastly triage in ER, an ER doc that was for all I know invisible, to the horrid several day stay until a kind and talented pair of doctors figured out what was going on with me and saved me by getting to the right docs, the right hospital with the right diagnosis.
The first nurse I had was an angry woman on a cell phone that she talked on throughout her rounds that tried to check me out not 5 minutes after pushing me into the room and slamming the bed sideways into the room. She forgot who I was and tried to check me out minutes after tossing me in the room! When I explained this to my gum chewing care taker all I got in return was the name «that one». She and her fellow nurses never used my name, only called me «that one». Shift change thankfully brought some higher caliber individuals.
It’s a shame that I unwell enough to document the outrageous breaches of safety protocol that occurred so that I could address it properly but I simply didn’t have the strength so I won’t elaborate further here. But I will say this, hand to God, in the last emergency situation that I had, which resulted in intensive care and massive surgery I literally risked my life to call a cab and go to a different hospital out of fear that the ambulance may have been required to take me to this hospital. I really believe that was my only hope of survival.
Never, never, never again.

I had a 30 minute outpatient procedure done on June 6. While the care was good the costs were astonomical.
The pre insurance bill NOT INCLUDING doctors and anesthesiologist fees was $ 11,331.90. After the insurance company «negotiated» rates the result was $ 4,091.33. If you have a low deductible policy with 100 percent payment it is a fine hospital. If you have a high deductable or normal policy, get the work done somewhere else.
Clearly the markups and and processes in a for profit hospital are all designed to create the largest bill possible.

I have had a long relationship with North Fulton, including ER and heart surgery. I have been very pleased with their dedication to service and professionalism. While in the hospital I had one very bad experience with one of the nurses, so I complained about what happened to the head nurse. That individual no longer works there, so they take such things very seriously.
My wife has also been in the ER several times, and I was very impressed on how they treated her.

I received a call this morning that
my son was in critical condition in the ICU at North Fulton Hospital so I hurried up there. When I arrived I had my partner drop me off up front while he parked the car. I went up to the 2^nd floor and there was no one at the Nurse’s station, nor anyone in the hallways. I waited a couple of minutes and finally just started looking for my son.
I finally found him and about 15 minutes later 2 of security guards come to the door. They start questioning me about my
partner (the one parking the car) and tell me he was «not behaving correctly» and saying «racial slurs». Apparently he asked them for
directions and they freaked out because he came in the ER entrance instead of the main hospital entrance. They were quite rude to me soI asked both of them for their names and the name/​number for their supervisor. They refused to provide me that information, told me my partner was not allowed up there and left.
A nurse then came into the room and started explaining my son’s condition. Since his condition was directly caused by his girlfriend I requested that she not be in his room. He’s 17 and still a minor so
I believe I have the legal right to do that. The nurse, Shannon, informed me that I had no legal rights when he was in the hospital and the girlfriend could come if she wanted and I would just have to «deal» with it. I asked her to leave the room at that point.
Before she ever left another nurse, who refused to give me her name or show
me her name tag (it was turned around), came storming in saying «your
boyfriend’s not coming up here». Kind of out of left field as I had never seen this woman and had no idea why she was so upset. I asked her to leave as well. I just wanted to be with my soon.
After a few minutes I flagged down an employee in the hallway and asked her if she could tell me how to get in touch with the Patient Advocate. She was very nice and said she didn’t know but would find
out.
15 minutes later the police show up. I was questioned about «threatening» the 2 nurses. NOT ONCE did I say anything even remotely threatening to them, they were offended that I don’t have doctor/​nurse
worship and had asked them to leave the room.
Shortly after I was asked to go into a different room where Shannon and the unknown nurse proceeded to tell the police that I threatened to «beat them up». I am 5’0 tall and weigh 95 pounds, both these
ladies were pretty hefty, I’m not that stupid or out of control. The police told me I had to leave my son in ICU in critical condition.
He’s up there all alone.
The security officers followed me out of the
hospital, the creepy one kept trying to get in the elevator with me. My partner had already left with my car so I had to walk, one of the security officers followed right behind me in his truck until I was
off the property.
So my son is possibly dying and I’m sitting home emailing you trying to find a lawyer that will take calls on Sunday. They are
interfering with custody, their nurses blatantly lied and the security guards harassed me. I am in considerable emotional distress and plan to own a good portion of this hospital after the lawsuit.
After reading all the other horrible reviews I feel a little better know it’s not just me

I went to the ER yesterday and I was having an allergic reaction to something I had eaten, my tongue was already swollen to the size of my mouth and I couldn’t talk. I was getting to the point I could not breath. When we got there my husband told the front desk I was having an allergic reaction (and I couldn’t breath)
The stupid front desk bitch was more worried about the paperwork, I had to fill out.
Here I am slowly not being able to breath (do you know what that feels like?
To slowly be choking and know its a matter of minutes before your airway closes and in order to breath they will have to put a tube in your tracheae) — I digress (I’m adding dramatics but not really). Anywho … (
I am still in the waiting room … Still with a growing tongue and hives are starting to form …)
About 5 mins went by and my husband asked there’s nobody else that can help? That’s all he said in a calm concerned voice.
Next thing the lady at the front desk (in a neon pink jacket that I know she stole from her daughter’s closet because nobody over 40 should be wearing neon right? Right?)
Goes to the back .
Somebody comes out … And says «Ok who are these people that where yelling at you?»
Um EXCUSE ME!!!
Two things
A. I couldn’t speak (I sounded like dude from Goonies that liked his Rocky road my flippin’ tongue was the size of my mouth)
B. my husband is soft spoken and everybody’s always saying to him «pardon me, can you repeat yourself.
The asshole of a nurse triaged me for 15 mins!!! (Ok maybe not that long but he took his sweet time)
Asking me all kinds of stupid shit that totally could’ve waited … And was just RUDE!!!
Once I got in the back … They got me seen right away but I had a 20 min lapse from start to finish. Had my husband not stopped for benedryl I would’ve been in some serious trouble!!!
Moral of the story is. Don’t come durning shift change. Because they don’t like that! Which is just about the time I arrived!
STAY AWAY!!!

Nobody cares if you live or die (ok again complete exaggeration but, damn that’s what it felt like)

So if you want to die PLEASE COME HERE! I wish I could give this place no stars! Because that is what is deserves!
