Setup my very rare vintage Gibson custom Les Paul… Right price, delivered on time and plays like a champion… The tech there, David L, is a real pro, kind and humble… beats the lights out of the snobs at Austin Vintage Guitars who are way over priced and are too cool for school to even call you back… Totally worth the drive to Danny’s shop whether you are local to RR or not…

One of the rare places i love going to in the otherwise restless Round Rock. The instructors are awesome. Lessons policies are reasonable. Parking is ample. And there is even a lovely store. And the vibe? Yes, laid-back.

I brought in my son for a Paid trial appointment which was scheduled at 3PM in Danny Ray’s calendar and 4PM in my calendar. There might have been a miscommunication because of available days/dates options that were discussed with them. They refused to do the trial and wanted us to pay to schedule another appointment. Here is a new customer willing to sign up for months of lessons but this store was not flexible for a Make Up lesson. That just goes to show how the owners value local clients. Customer Service also means to accommodate needs of your customer and if there was a genuine miscommunication or misunderstanding then try to be flexible about it. Be careful while doing business with this store.

Nice and friendly. We had no idea what to get for a gift. He spent time on us and helped us pick out something cool and unique. Also showed different ones in different price ranges. Looks like they have regulars that just relax and hang out there. :) Very clean store too.

My son has been to 2 drum lessons here so far(I sat in on the first) and I have to say I am impressed! I am sure it is not easy to work with a 7 year old with NO experience but the instructor was up for the challenge. My son thinks its«awesome» and is having a great time. A really nice lessons place/music store in one. Highly recommend if you have kids interested in any type of lessons or on the market for a new instrument!

My family have been customers at this locally owned music store for many years. It has been a wonderful experience getting to know the owners and watching the business grow. Both my sons are now professional level musicians(guitar and mandolin) thanks to the amazing teachers they have brought in – teachers who teach what the student needs by filtering it through what they want to learn. The money for the lessons was a great investment. We have also bought a wide variety of instruments, amps, cables, etc., and could not be more pleased with the pricing and service. If Dan doesn’t have what we want, he gets it for us. The new store is beautiful and blends in with the old Round Rock neighborhood – how many stores are actually ON the Chisholm Trail? And all the staff are friendly and knowledgeable. Please keep local music stores alive and shop here!

I have been a customer for several years. Danny has sold me my American Strat, rebuilt a vintage Hamer, and found me a beautiful Breedlove acoustic for my daughter. What is new for our family though was the Rock Band Camp my youngest daughter just went through, a week in a real band with a performance at the end of the week. She had a great time and so did we watching. I can’t say enough how lucky we are to have a large hometown music store and academy right here in Round Rock. Thanks Danny for the great store and thanks David for the rebuild on the Hamer, it rocks!

Stopped in before Christmas and bought my son a very nice Fender and case. The owner was exceptionally helpful and extremely friendly. He gave me an amazing deal. You gotta check them out if you are in need of anything guitar related. They know their stuff.

I too first found Danny Rays back when they were in a strip center on Sam Bass Road. They have always gave me a good deal! Re the«limited» selection, they can basically get Anything you want without any«special order» charges. Repairs are usually great, but if you want something re-done they will take it back and correct it until you are happy. One of their Strongest Assets is the 15+ lesson rooms, and teachers covering voice, piano, guitar, violin/viola, drums,(and other instruments.) They have a great selection of amps and pedals, and as said above, if they dont have it, you can order it. The only area they dont have a reasonable selection in is PA or disco gear(GC at Hesters Crossing can solve that issue), or boutique amps(again, see what they can order for ya).

I brought in an acoustic guitar which is quite old and treasured. There were some maintenance and repairs needed and I was concerned about them being completed well. The folks there were pleasant and knowledgeable. The price was reasonable. Danny Ray’s took good care of the instrument and made the necessary repairs. My guitar was returned to me quickly and I am quite pleased with the results. I will be back there for sure! Really, it’s just that simple. Good, knowledgeable guitar service.

I take lessons here and I have to say the price is just right and my lesson are perfect. My coach is fantastic and is helping me tremendously. I will be renting my daughter’s Sax for middle school from them, because they have great prices for great products. Very happy to have found them!

I’m a return customer. Great prices that can’t be beat! The knowledgeable staff is ready to help. They’ll sometimes give you a price lower than what’s on the ticket – this has been the case twice when I’ve shopped at Danny Ray’s. The only drawback is that the selection is somewhat limited. Still what they have is top notch and their service couldn’t be better!

The negative review above is inaccurate. The store is not small, it is very large. It’s not as large as guitar center, but it doesn’t need to be. It’s a family owned business, and is way better than any ‘big-box’ store. The owners are at the store and greet everyone who walk through the door. If this guy was not greeted, he must have came in, went straight to the acoustic room, and left. The acoustic room is not too small, and can fit more than two people. If this guy would have paid attention, he would have known that it is not a house converted to a store, it is a store with a house on top, built that way from the beginning. Also, the store did not ‘rip off’ his name, the owner’s name is Danny Ray! I would recommend this store to others. Go see Danny Ray, he’ll take care of all your music needs!

The first time I experienced Danny Ray’s Music they were in an out of the way location in a small strip mall space. But even then they still offered high end Martin acoustics, Fender electrics and the only place around that carried Orange amplifiers. But since Danny Ray’s moved into their brand new store, a stand-alone building they built from the ground up, they have greatly expanded their product lines. Every time I walk in there they seem to have more stuff. This store is probably one of the nicest music stores I have ever been in. Comfortable, well lit, spacious and it still has that«new store smell» and it’s conveniently located right off of I-35. I’m primarily a guitar player so I really dig their selection of Fender, Martin, Breedlove, Schecter and Epiphone guitars as well as Marshall, Fender, Bogner, Line 6, Orange and Vox amplifiers. They are not only a Fender authorized dealer but a Fender authorized repair shop too. I’ve had Danny Ray’s work on a few of my guitars and amps with great results and quick turn around. Danny and his staff are always willing to talk with me, answer my questions and make me feel welcome and appreciated. I can’t remember if I ever felt that way at Guitar Center. And if Danny doesn’t have something you need he’ll do his best to get it for you. There are plenty of cool music stores in Austin, but in Round Rock not so much, especially since Brook Mays closed its doors. And in this economic climate it’s nice to see a privately owned music store in Round Rock that is growing and serving the musical needs of the community.
