Pipe World

Simply the best customer service I’ve received in a long while it was very refreshing. I walked in just to look at humidors I wasn’t even going to buy one, but the lady was so helpful in explaining the different types of humidors that would fit my preference that I ended up buying one and walking out extremely confident on how to take care of it. I highly recommend this place!

Pipe World on Sundance Pkwy Ave is a great store and I as a account holder have spent a size able amount of money there and not just Pipe Products or tobacco, but cigars, pipes, and other fine merchandise in the store.
In fact, when I was there Nov 3d 15, I told the associate I’d better leave before I spent too much money with so many nice things available.
However, From buying a pipe lighter on
the 3d of Aug 15 and took it back on the 7^th of Aug, due to having a hard time lighting it and simply didn’t like it.
Meeting a associate to assist me, I told her the problem as I stated, and she took it back to the apparent boss/​owner (I don’t know).
When he approached me at the counter he was in a aggressive mode. He said they don’t normally take things back just because the customer didn’t like the item. I guess he didn’t or want to hear the part I said about having a hard time lighting it.
He went on to question my integrity by saying someone could do something to the lighter to not make it not work and claim they «didn’t like it» basically accusing me of such thing.
Over a $ 39.00 lighter⁉PLEASE.
I’ve taken whole sets of furniture back because «I didn’t like it» and there were NO comments or accusations ! I’ve even taken vehicles back, with no accusations or innuendoes, but they were first rate places.
He was good enough to look up my receipt so I could take a credit rather a replacement. Which the associate was colder than ice.
I signed the receipt for her, told her I thought the store was great, without a smile, or «come back and see us» comment I left.
Probably won’t return. Too bad, I DID LIKE the store, oh well like customers, there’s always another store.

I stop by this place every once in a while whenever I run out of cigars and just want a quick one-​off to get me going.
Their selection is pretty huge, and the staff is very helpful. I’ve had some good recommendations from them in the past for some tasty cigars I otherwise wouldn’t have known about.
Also, if you want to smoke there, they have comfortable leather lounging chairs. I have never stayed there (I’m more of a solitary smoker), but it looks nice and cozy.

We had a small purchase of screens for $ 1.07 or so with tax. My husband went to the car to get change and the cashier patiently waited. I know it seems kind of cheap, but who wants 93 cents?
She didn’t roll her eyes or get huffy, which was appreciated after the attitude we got at nearby Austin Vapor.
There was a group of about 5 – 7 men smoking cigars in the lounge area and they seemed to be enjoying themselves. The store is much bigger than it appears from the outside. They sell a lot of knick knacks, so I’m sure an aficionado or someone looking for a gift could spend a lot of time here.

I was in Texas visiting and looking for a good cigar to relax with. A brief Google search produced this place. I’m a regular at my favorite shop back home in CA. After reading some of the reviews regarding customer service I figured I’d be my own judge. I walked in and was quickly greeted with a smile and a «good morning.» I perused the large selection of cigars and settled on a Perdomo Habano. There were two regular visitors in the lounge who quickly welcomed me to the lounge to enjoy my purchase. I will definitely return.

Very cool smoke shop! Relaxing atmosphere! I always enjoy the fast and friendly service. They have a great variety. I highly recommend you try this place.

First off — I’m not a smoker. I went in to this store to ask about empty cigar boxes for a craft project. I was rather nervous about going in to a specialty shop for something mostly unrelated to the specialty. I was quickly greeted and politely shown to the available boxes. The store itself is lovely — beautifully arranged and airy. It has the kind of atmosphere that comes from a well-​organized, established place. When I checked out my extremely inexpensive purchase was treated just as if I were buying half the shop. I may start looking for excuses to shop here again — I was very impressed. The staff seemed adept at determining which customers knew exactly what they wanted and where to find it and who needed assistance with the products.
(Note: I spent a few years training people in retail customer service — I am not easy to impress.)

I’ve been here 3 times. Twice to buy a birthday gift for my Dad and once to get a hygrometer for my daughter’s science project. I really like the atmosphere here and they are very friendly. My Dad really enjoyed the cigars.

As with so many retail establishments they could improve on their customer greeting skills when all the staff is doing is standing around talking to one another. They have an excellent and broad range of cigars. Their pricing is far more competive than some retailers in the Austin area. They carry Romeo and Juliet cigars.

My low rating is pretty much entirely because of the customer service here. They actually have good pipe tobacco and a nice selection of pipes, chess boards, and other typical pipe store knickknacks.
The problem is, none of the staff seem to feel at all comfortable with the presence of customers. They stand right near you and stare at you while you look at pipe tobacco, they don’t reply when you ask questions (they kind of look askance and mumble), and they don’t seem to have any experience or interest in pipes or pipe tobacco, which is pretty weird considering their line of work.
I’ve been in a few times and met at least 4 different staff members and they are all weird like this. I would be inclined to think «gosh, maybe I am just some kind of freak who breaks every pipe store norm as soon as I walk in!» but the fact is, I get treated great at Heroes or any other pipe/​tobacco store I frequent. So yeah, it’s bad enough I won’t go back in spite of their very convenient location. Maybe it is just the Round Rock location though, many people seem to like the Austin store.

I don’t smoke, but I use smokeless tobacco like a mothereffer. This is the first place I found in Central Texas to carry General Snus, the Swedish Brand of smokeless tobacco. I hit this place once a month for a $ 28 roll of 5. Prices are great, staff are helpful.

Pipe World is my go to tobacconist. I’ve shopped at every place in Austin for cigars and no one comes close. There are places with bigger selections and lounge accomodations but Pipe World is by far the friendliest and most knowlegable tobacconist in the area. They are a family run establishment that has a true passion for the products they sell. They have a great selection of my favorite smokes such as Fuentes, Padrons, Davidoffs, Asthon VSG’s, and many others always in stock and occassionally you will find some killer bargains on their 30% discount table that are too good to pass up.
I don’t smoke as much as I used to in the past, but when I need cigars, Pipe World will always get my business.

I put off searching for a tobacconist here in Austin for too long, and my search led me to Pipe World first. I checked out this Round Rock location recently in search of some good pipe tobacco, and a couple cigars for myself and friends after the Thanksgiving holiday.
I checked into the humidor first, which was extensive and packed with all the brands I could think of. If you are looking for a cigar, they probably have it. The prices seemed a little higher than I am used to, but I snagged a couple Romeo & Julieta’s and headed for the pipe tobacco.
They had a nice selection of pipe tobacco, but what struck me was the price. First off, you can buy no less than 2 ounces of a selection. For those that don’t smoke a pipe daily, 2 ounces is a very healthy amount. I’m a casual smoker, so 2 oz will last me a couple months if I can keep it fresh.
Also, the prices were about double what I am accustomed to. Granted, I do come from Kentucky and Cincinnati, where the source of tobacco is much closer and more readily available, but at about 4 $ to 4.50 $ an ounce, it was quite an uptick.
That said, I would go back and found the staff helpful and attentive. I have heard this place is a regular cigar tasting spot as well, I’d love to attend one of those in the future.

Pipe World is the BEST Tobacconist I have stepped into. You can pay $ 10 to join the Elite Membership for a 10% discount. Walk into the generous (~14×10) humidor to find the largest selection of truly fine cigars in Austin. Arturo Fuentes in spades. Caches of Turano, CAO, Dunhill, Davidoff and Macanudo abound.
From $ 25 stick to $ 1.50 a stick — they have selections at every price point that will not disappoint. The humidor is well-​tended and keeps the cigars in the best shape of any humidor that I have visited in Austin.
Consultation with the owners will put you right on top of what you seek in terms of flavor profile at the price point that works for you. They do not try to up-​sell you in any way. Try the (private blend) Pipe World cigars for a pleasant surprise of smooth character at a very nice price (~$ 3.85/stick). Also try the 3×3 for a very smooth bargain bin smoke actually produced by Davidoff (at $ 3 — very, very nice).
They have pipe tobacco in bulk, tons of very nice humidors, some chess sets and other collectibles.
If you can beat it, email me with the location. I seriously want to go there.
Oh, one more thing. The Round Rock location has a fantastic record of bringing reps from Macanudo, Turano, Camacho, etc to the location for late evening symposiums and special visits. The Turano visit was muy bien as the roller from Turano made and shared free cigars as he rolled them. While he worked, the «face man» described the process and extolled the virtues of the Turano line. I can honestly say that it was one of the finest cigars that I have smoked to date.
