This place is an absolute nightmare!
Forget that I had an appointment I scheduled a week in advance… And while thy DID take me back at my appointment time, my daughter and I sat in the room waiting for the doctor until while they took care of all the walk-​ins first in the other rooms. And I was the second appointment for the day, so it’s not like I came strolling in the middle of the day.
And the staff members are absolutely ridiculously rude. Particularly whatever man handles the phone calls and the girl at the first desk. I don’t why anyone would hire such a rude staff when there are so many better qualified people who have better skills in customer service looking for a job. I have two daughters, one had her insurance card and the other hasn’t received hers yet. No biggie, I just needed an appointment for my daughter WITH the insurance card. Well the rude man on the phone would NOT listen to me and kept telling me he couldn’t book the appointment cause my daughter didn’t have an insurance card yet. I practically had to yell at him to shut up and listen to what I was saying that I was only booking an appointment for my daughter WITH the insurance card.
My first appointment was hell. I came here and they practically scammed me out of money and made me pay out of pocket cash saying my insurance wasn’t activated. I had my insurance on the phone and they said I was fine because my start date was retroactive and that they would send the info to them, but the receptionist girl gave two shits and just told me too bad and it would take a couple days to put in their computer. She refused to talk to the insurance person I had on the phone, and the insurance person pretty much was like wow — this girl is being a lazy b-​word. My insurance was really great cause they retroactived my start date because I had a bit of an emergency, but the receptionist just held a straight face the entire time and kept telling I had to pay in full in cash and she didn’t care if it was retroactive that I would not get a refund. It was a emergency so I said whatever and went ahead and shoveled out about $ 200 in cash right there.
Then the doctor herself is a little off. The first appointment she kept commenting how my daughter is so tall that I didn’t have to worry about her weight cause it was perfect. A month later (my daughter hasn’t gained a pound), and she starts telling me my daughter is overweight and I need to be careful and she already warned me about it last visit. WTF?! My daughter plays soccer, softball and eats healthy. AND she is super tall… I’m not worried. Then the doctor started lecturing how she gave me a paper to go to the lab and how i didn’t do it… She NEVER gave me anything for a lab. This people need to get their crap together. Definitely switching my insurance after the year.
The ONLY person who I actually care for is the nurse who takes the vitals. Hispanic lady with blonde highlights, I think. She’s super friendly and nice. I feel sorry she has to work in that hell hole. And here’s some advice to the front desk… «Hello! How may I help you?» It’s that not hard of a sentence. You can do it. And try to crack a smile. I promise you it won’t hurt. I know people have bad days… But after 15 minutes after you just open, what the hell has happened in your day to make you look like a washed out zombie at the front desk?

I never write reviews for anything, but since this concerns the health and well-​being of children, I felt that I had to. I don’t even know where to start. Unfortunately, Dr. Chan (I don’t even want to call her a doctor) was my pediatrician for seven years. I am now 20; I went to her from age 11 to 18. When I was 11, I began having trouble breathing. I had a chronic cough and sometimes coughed up blood. As an 11 year old, I thought that I was dying. When I went to Dr. Chan for the first time regarding my breathing problems, she dismissed it as a cough and prescribed me some medicine. This «cough» persisted for over half a year. For over half a year I could not sleep and could barely breathe. I was an 11 year old and I thought that I was dying. My mother took me to Chan various times within that period and each time, this «doctor» seemed annoyed to see me. She would just prescribe the same damn medication and usher me out of the room. I finally could not take it anymore and begged my parents to take me to my old pediatrician in San Gabriel. The second my old doctor examined me, she diagnosed that I had asthma. For half a year I had asthma and «Doctor» Chan was unable to make this diagnosis. Looking back, I cannot believe this even happened. I cannot believe that she is even considered a doctor. Aside from her being a shitty doctor, she is the rudest one I have ever met. I never felt comfortable going into her office. She had a bitchy attitude and always acted as if my parents and I were wasting her time. Also, the place is absolutely filthy. If you take your children there, they will probably end up contracting something worse than what they already have. This is for my 6+ months of suffering as a child and for all the sick children who should not go to «Dr». Eva Chan.

Place is dirty and i don’t know why, but a lot of the time, I would sense the smell of cigarettes in the office. Always packed. They don’t have a baby changing station… at a pediatricians office? Front staff was just ok. The assistant that took my sons vitals was always nice to us. The doctor, was very quick, sometimes ok, but the last straw was when I took my older daughter there for the first time because she kept complaining about horrible stomach pain, doctor was just like, oh its probably just mild constipation and told her to take over the counter meds. Pain persisted so I took her to a specialist and it turns out she had gastritis and other issues she needed treatment for. All that time she suffered for nothing! As soon as she got treated by the specialist she had relief.

This doctor was the closest to my place and was recommended on the internet. But my experience with them was TERRIBLE every time! (the only reason I went back is because it’s a pain to change primary physicians, but I’m getting it done today)
I went to Chan today cuz my 3 year old daughter was throwing up, we couldn’t get an appointment so I had to walk in, after 2 hours, my daughter was in pain and started crying, and screaming that she wanted to see a doctor! (can u imagine a 3 year old WANTING TO see a doctor???) the front office kept giving us dirty looks, no compassion what so ever. I was next in line, so I went to the front dest and asked if there is any way i could go first (there were kids waiting to get physicals) the staff rudely told me there was no way, and told me to relax, not in a nice way, and saying «if you can’t be calm, how can your child be?» (while my daughter was screaming in pain in the background)
finally we were led to a waiting room, and as i walked past the front desk, i heard the front desk lady pull the nurse aside, point at us and say «don’t let them go first!» i almost turned around and punched her! i kept it together cause my daughter was so uncomfortable, and got through the visit. the doctor was cold and with out compassion like the rest of the staff.
if you have a choice, don’t go to this doctor.

My daughter had a doctor in Monterey park from her 0 – 6 months, I was very worried and panic for her skin allergy and her back head skin wound… Anyways… I was glad that after I change to doctor Eva chan, she correctly diagnosis my daughter issues and she will always remind my parents what to watch out for my daughter. Wait time is long!(my mom brings my daughter most of the time) but me and my mom agrees that doctors professional cares is more important than long wait time!

I have been taking my children to Dr. Chan for couple years now. My son love her, she really nice to us.
I have no complain about the staff front desk because they have been helping us with all paper works needed for school, as well as anything I asked for they provided with courtesy.

Too bad I cannot leave zero star. My advice, don’t go. It will be your worst nightmare.

My experience with my kids going to this doctor is pretty spot on with most of these bad reviews posted here. The doctor is ok and would only spend about less than 3 minutes with you most time. The worst person in this office is the guy name Bruce at the front desk. I think he’s Dr. Chan’s brother. He has a real nasty attitude. He’s rude to most people I observed there especially to the elders that speak limited English. Also, he allows certain people go ahead of others that had been there first. Of course, the wait is worst than the line at Disneyland. Stay away if you have another option.

To be fair, I feel like I need to give a review for this place. Most of the reviews in here is correct if you consider the wait time, staff experience as your top priority.
We have been coming here for a few years now. Yes. I hate the long wait. Regardless whether you have an appointment or not, you can expect to wait for 2 – 3 hours. Staffs can be rude, clueless, or unprofessional sometimes.
But Dr. Chan knows what she is doing. There is a reason why her office is always packed. Dr. Chan can correctly diagnose a problem at a much higher rate than some of the doctors out there. She may not have the patience to talk to you or your kid, but she is good at what she does.
I figure if we only have to see her a few times a year, we can live with long wait time. I trust her ability and that’s why we keep on going back to this place.
If finding a knowledgeable doctor is your priority, Dr. Eva Chan may be your choice. If you want a shorter wait time, caring staff, patient doctor, look for someone else.

Seriously… This place has THE funkiest workers I have ever seen in my life! The staff are ALL so rude, clueless, and absolutely unprofessional.
Everyone who works in the medical field should know that ur not supposed to discuss patients’ info or the medications they’re taking due to a law called HIPPA which is basically confidentiality. The staff is not allowed to disclose or discuss any of their patients’ personal information. If they need to discuss it, they need to do it quietly and NOT around other people so nobody will hear it. The staff were basically talking about the medications of this girl OUT LOUD and I heard all the shit this girl was going through in her personal life and the drugs she was taking AND her phone number address!!! If i was a bad person and wanted to stalked the girl, I know where she lives now! The two staff (a man and a woman) up front were just so incredibly rude. Later on I found out that the man was her brother. Talking on personal cellphone while there were 4 families waiting and just one other person working? Couldn’t he just drop the phone call and help out? The woman was even worse. I brought my nephew, and she needed to verify some info, and one of them was the primary phone number. I told her it was probably my sister’s number since she was the mother. This woman looked at me in this very weird way like I had kidnapped this boy! She asked, «then who are u? What’s ur name?» It was a simple question but her tone of voice and the way she asked the question was offensive to me. So I said, «u don’t need to know my name. U just need to know that I’m his aunt.»
The wait was incredibly long even though we had an appointment. The doctor is alright. If u speak Chinese with her then her sense of humor comes out. If not, she is as boring as a rock. It wasn’t too bad when I talked to her. She made my nephew laughed and all. The only thing was she was rushing us out. I wanted to ask her a few questions about my nephew’s physical for school but she was already on her way out the door before i finished my first question. But I can put up with that. I understand she was busy that day.
Her staff just killed it for her! She needs to fire them all and start fresh!
Anyone who looks for professional, quick, and courteous service, I would suggest u NOT to come here! My sister says this doctor is famous. I don’t see how that’s true unless if she meant that she is famous for being rude!

LOL sounds like the previous reviewer either had a PPO or is related to the Dr. because they are trying to make this doctor seem like something she isnt. The only wys she will spend more then 3 minutes with anyone is either if they know her personally or have a PPO, that way she could justify how much she charges the insurance. The only thing worst then her, is her idiot brother (office manager), many of times I have gone in and what is the first thing everyone notices? Him sleeping in the front office, he is rude, and racist. He will not lift a finger for you if you are not asian. Horrible hole in the wall clinic!!!

We had a very good experience with Dr. Chan. The wait was a little bit long which just means to us that a lot of parents want their kids to be seen by her. I would expect no patients will wait to see her if she is not competent, especailly talking about our children’s health. We found out she is very pleasant, competent, caring and patient. During my son’s last visit, she spent at least 15 min checking out my kid, not like the other doctor I took him to. He did not even spend 5 min to hear us out and find out the problem. However I do agree that the front office staffs can be more smiling. Comparing to all the other pedatricians, Dr. Chan is ranked among the top, in our own experience. If not for the front staffs, we would give a five stars.

Doctor is careless and staffs are even worse. All they want are money, money, money. We went for physical check-​up and all doctor did were just looking at my daughter and said she is fine and that’s it. Hello… I still have a lot of questions to ask. I would give zero star is i could.

She and this doctor office is worst ever!
The staffs there are rude and they don’t care about the patient at all.
Doctor there is alway unwilling to help or giving any helpful advice.
The wait is over 2 hrs I was there at 2pm with my kid which weare the 1^st patient in and on the list we still waited 2 hrs and the doctor only spend 2 mins with us, I ask her more then 2 questions about my kids illness and she seems like unwilling to talk about it.
Again worst doctor office I ever been to both the staffs and the stupid doctor there.

I came here because it’s really the only PCP my sons insurance would allow in my immediate area… but now I’ll have to find another doctor and drive an extra 30 minutes because this office is… eh.

5. doctor is rude and does not seem to be very concerned about my child. She decided to call my son FAT and ridicule me for it… a good doctor would have asked me questions like how much i’m feeding him and what his eating schedule is like… she just taunted the both of us and left the room to get to the next person in line.

DON’T ever come to this office even if it was your last option. They don’t take appointments so the usual wait is about 2+ hours. I once had to sit there for 4 hours. Are you kidding me?!! All thanks to Bruce the office manager/​brother of the doctor. He decided that it was better to take a cash patient that came in 2 hours after I did. WTF?!
In all honesty, don’t torture your kid (s) and/​or yourself by coming to this doctor’s office. I’m positive there are other doctors that are more qualified and more concern with the health of your child than this POS doctor.

From my experience, the doctor is ok BUT the front desk manager (the guy) is awful. Very bad experience when I took my baby who was having fever badly and wait 3hours in the office (from the door open@9am until 12 at noon) I know it sounds ridiculous and it’s truly happened to me. If you have other choices, go to others except EVa CHan.

Haven’t taken for kids here for years. Didn’t even know she was on Unilocal.I would give this poor excuse for a doctor a –5 stars if I could. I’m surprised she is still practicing
Pros: NONE.
Cons: Too many — but here is a few…
1. Extremely long waits.
2. She is RUDE & OBNOXIOUS.
3. She thinks she knows everything.
4. — She will judge you if you don’t share the same parenting view as she does — Example … apparently I was deemed to have bad parenting skills because I decided to put jackets on my kids in mid Dec on a cold a$$ rainy day. According to her, that was a «No, No». God forbid my kids gets a heat stroke from me forcing them to wear jackets in the winter. Mrs. Chan (she doesn’t deserve the the title Dr.) told me that kids adapt to the weather and I am being too over protective & parents like me get their kids sick because I weaken their immune system. Uh… EXCUSE Me? That’s rude!
5. Final Straw — My other son was rough housing with his brother & like all boys, someone always falls or gets hurt. Well it seemed that he might have sprained his arm. So, we took him to Mrs. Chan & of course she said it was nothing even though my son refused to move his elbow or wrist. Everytime she touched his elbow or wrist he would flench and tear up. I was suspicious he might have dislocated his eblow and sprained his wrist. Mrs. Chan brushed it off and sent us on our way even though his arm & wrist was swelling up. I left and had to come back because it was getting so bad and I asked her to take a second look. She refused. Then I asked if I should take my boy to the ER. She said it didn’t look too bad & there was no need to go to the ER. REALLY? The stupid B@#$%$# had the nerve to tell us to come back tomorrow. No xray. nothing. Didn ‘t take a second look at my son. Are you kidding me??? How can you be a pediatrician and not give a Rats A$$ about your patients (especially kids). What happened to the Hippocratic Oath?
Long story short, I ended up taking my boy to the ER. He had a nurse maid elbow (dislocated elbow common in kids) and fractured his wrist. My poor baby had a cast on for a whole month. =(From that day on I never went back to her.
Overall, I do not recommend anyone to go to this horrid place.

The wait is a pain, usually over 1 hour. Front desk girls are nice but the doctor acts like she knows it all. She doesn’t ask detailed questions or give me basic information of what to look for if there’s fever or reaction after vaccination shots. She gives me a look or just don’t look at me when I seem to ask too many questions and waste her time. They try to squeeze in as many patients as possible so the doctor’s time is precious but not ours.

The Doctor is ok, but the front desk r sucks, everytime I ask them about anything, they give me the look is like whatever, n it make me feel I’m begging them!
