I like this place for its convenience to my apartment. Raymond(or Ramon) and the owner(Felix) give quick check-out service. I can pick up orange juice, eggs, or cheese for breakfast or a bottle of low-cost wine at the last minute. There’s always some guy sitting near the wine aisle on a stool. Not sure if he actually WORKS there or is just hanging out, but he’s helpful. Is he my wine steward? They also sell loose white potatoes and yellow onions, and bags of peanuts in the shell to go with your glass of wine. Wish they sold liquor, too. They told me they can’t because it’s too close to a local school. They have the most adorable tiny Chihuahua behind the counter — he always makes me smile — and a cat that wanders around inside. I’ve also stopped in here to get Ibuprofen for a headache, or Half-and-Half for my coffee when I ran out. Too bad their selection of ground coffee isn’t better, but hey! — this is a convenience store. If you’re hard up you can choose from any of the several foil-wrapped espresso brands labeled in Spanish, that aren’t exactly fresh out of the grinder but will do in a pinch. They open every morning of the week at 6:00am. They close at around 9:00pm on Sundays, and ten minutes before 11:00pm Mon.-Sat. Not 11:00. TEN of 11:00. Don’t be late!

This place gets its high ratings for convenience and friendliness of the workers. After all, it is a convenience store, right? I’m not the type of person that likes to chat with everyone I see. In here, it’s all business. You walk in, grab your booze, you pay, and walk out. Simple as that. They don’t care what you’re gonna do later that evening or what your plan for your next 5 years is going to be. I usually get a case of Rolling Rock when I come here. Its funny because their fridge is so small that they stock exactly one case at all times. And you know there is more because when you walk out and walk back in 5 minutes later, a brand new case is there. It’s like one of those video games where you can get infinite items(except you have to pay) by walking in and out of a building over and over. Awesome. One week, I was here 4 days out of the week. Says a lot about what I do. They have a little sticker on their door that says, «We I.D.». I guess that’s good. Keeps the«youths» in check.

Has everything you need for a corner store bodega in the neighborhood other than liquor. The beer is average price.

Every neighborhood needs one of these. Figueroa’s Market is the place you go when you wake up on a Saturday as you’re making pancakes, you realize you have no syrup. So while you’re cooking your pancakes on the lowest heat you sprint over practically in your pj’s to grab some syrup. It’s one of those stores that has a little bit of everything from plantains, Bologna, cereal, soap, condoms and 40’s. FYI it’s helpful you speak a little Spanish.

I can’t believe other people beat me to review this place. It reminds me of my dorm freshman year: packed with booze, donuts, and mac & cheese. The guys who work there are really sweet and I will forever have a fondness for Figueroa’s because it is where I first started drinking Riunite, back when they didn’t card and when I was underage. Apparently they’ve started to crack down, especially on all the frat bros. Can’t say I love the other customers or their cat calls. Can’t win ‘em all, right? Right? *Cries*

This is one of those great little neighborhood standards that doesn’t exist in neighborhoods anymore. They have everything from beer to bacon and eggs. You can buy your laundry detergent, some groceries and trot back home or to a friend’s house ‘on the Hill’ without having to deal with the big grocery chain. How can you go wrong. I have shopped here for 20 years.

I was on my way to some see some friends when I stumbled across this bodega(say it with me, BO-DE-GA). Surprisingly, for such a small place they had a smattering of good beer and plenty of Bud-lite for you non beer drinkers ;) I went in with a 20 bucks and left with six packs of Killian’s and Red Hook and & money to spare for munchies and smokes for my friend, rock! They even have a little deli but I haven’t tried anything from it.
