Great food and friendly customer service. My sausage egg and cheese was perfect and it was my first time being here. Ps their sweet tea is to die for

Come here every Sunday morning for breakfast. Never disappointed. Might have to wait a little bit and customer service could be a lil better. But I have been eating here all my life. Very basic menu. Really good food. Cash only. Surprised there aren’t more reviews

Disappointed. I expected a «Brothers Restaurant» experience(locals know the place I’m talking about in Mattapan Square) but instead I got an experience that was sub par. The breakdown: Steak was thin and spindly eggs were unsalted grits were unsalted hash browns were unsalted portions were tiny service was surly and slow I appreciate them looking out for my high blood pressure and cholesterol level. To be honest though if I was looking for that I would have went to dunkin donuts and ordered an orange juice and a banana. I was looking for good tasting, plentiful food with a smiling server… I received neither. I really hate to leave a review like this. I love to support local businesses so leaving a review like this for a longstanding establishment like this pains me, but I simply must be honest. Hopefully they clean up their act but with the rarity that I frequent the area they may not have a chance to redeem themselves. To top it all off… they don’t do free refills on coffee when you eat in! Really? Come on silver slipper… I know you can do better than this. I have no idea why I received such a low quality of food and service.

This place by far has the best breakfast sandwich! The shop location is sketchy, I’m not gonna lie… but the sandwich is so worth coming here… the only thing that sux is it closes early sometimes even @ 2pm. But definitely a got to spot if you’re craving a breakfast sandwich :)

Husband went and picked us up breakfast for my birthday. Lenny and Daphne would be proud to know their place is still doing a good job!

I’m white. I live in the Dudley Square neighborhood. This is the only restaurant/dive that made me and a Salvadorean friend feel acutely ill at ease. All conversation ceased when they saw my face. I’m usually pretty brave about things like this – I force my way in and crack a joke and hope to defuse the tension – but the glowering just didn’t let up. Too bad, ’cause I like the kind of food they serve.

Never had the workds best service here. Food was ok for me. Not a top choice. Grits were salty. I wasn’t offered any butter or jam for my toast and server was unattainable. Not to mention we needed to use the restroom and needed to go to another establishment to do so. lo

Great pancakes! Random spot but old school dinner food is fantastic! Staff is friendly and the food is yummy!

The pancakes were not well done… the eggs were mega greasy! And they forgot my toast! And the server was fresh!

their breakfast sandwiches and iced tea are absolutely amazing. The only problem I have with this place is when it gets really crowed its very tight and uncomfortable, but other then that food is amazing the prices are fair. Mind you this place is good for take out or a quick sit and eat. I would never sit and eat here. The service is terrible sometimes and they have no restrooms. But when I take it to go I have no problem with it.

Ok this is one place where breakfast and the GRITS go together they are memorable ive been to the silver slipper probably 100 times in my life and when im in the dudley area in the early morning thats where all be till noon lol, no but serious the hot sausage sandwhich is bomb and the french toast plates with eggs and grits are off da hook, it is a very small place but if your lucky you can get a place to sit on the revolving stool

Silver Slipper is a ol’ school place to eat. My grand-father use to eat here. They serve breakfast and lunch, they are not open for dinner time. I always order breakfast. The Texas stlye french toast is mouth-watering. Their breakfast selections are moderately priced. The food is so damn good. I brought my fiancé there for the first time and he assumed that the food would be nasty but he was very pleased. The place is small but gets very crowded because the food is so good. If you go to Silver Slipper, please try their ice tea. I do not even buy ice tea in the stores or at restaurants. I only drink it if I go to Silver Slipper. Everyone orders their iced teas, it is an A+. They serve collard greens, oxtails and other southern meals. You have to go out to eat here. Do not expect desingner table cloths, curtains and a server with bow tie on. This an ol’ school joint and it makes you feel like you are in the 60’s when you eat here. I love Silver Slipper.

Food is so good — the website above incorrect though. The place is very small so I doubt that they even have a website. Home cooking food — they were featured in the movie Gone Baby Gone!!!

Okay, so if you want a REAL«down-home» type of breakfast, THIS institution is your spot. It’s a legend, they say Malcolm X used to eat here. Right smack in Dudley Square, you will find the BEST grits in the city(be sure to ask for them with cheese-yum). Home fries are the soft kind, cooked on the grill, and I’ve never had either but I see people getting the pancakes and french toast all the time. I would’ve given them 5 stars, BUT you must be warned that the service leaves much to be desired. The guys are polite, but not nice. Food gets cooked quickly, but then the production slows down in getting it to you. This place is VERRRY busy in the mornings. They do take call in orders, though, which may help with getting your food. Anyway, the gist is, go here for good old fashioned, not fancy, breakfast, and GETITTOGO. There is a small seating area, but there’s quite the cast of characters sitting inside. GRITS! GRITS! GRITS! Get them HERE!!!
