Description

Specialties

Cacao Tree’s menu is composed of freshly prepared, mostly organic, vegan and raw (un-cooked) foods. Everything is made daily from scratch using only real whole food ingredients. No gluten, soy or cane sugar is used in any preparations, nothing is refined. An emphasis on vegan desserts & handmade raw chocolates, as well as featuring a selection of «superfood» green smoothies & green juices, daily soups, specials and a selection of prepackaged deli foods.

Acquiring local and regionally sourced produce and products are key aspects of the daily operations of the café. Building relationships with and supporting the community is an essential aspect of the principles which founded the business in 2010.

Seating is limited, offering a bar to accommodate guests as well as a few tables. Carryout service is convenient and efficient and may be pre-ordered anytime. Parking is available in the parking garage located directly behind the café.

P. S. We do not own a can opener. :) :):

History

Established in 2010.

Cacao Tree was opened by owner Amber Poupore following a decade tenure at the Inn Season Café just down the street. Given the close proximity, she wanted to create offerings that would complement both businesses rather than compete. Inn Season has always wanted to offer raw food, the space is just not available for even more labor intensive preparations. The juice bar has been there for over a decade, Amber was able to have the opportunity to purchase the business and create a new plant based, organic establishment in metro Detroit.

Amber has had extensive training in vegan and raw foods preparation, including classes in New York City, Chicago, Tree of Life Rejuvenation Center, Living Light Culinary Course, Regeneration Raw, and many opportunities to see and learn from David Wolfe. Given all her background and experience, Amber attributes all of the inventive and amazing cuisine to chefs Zach Lang, Hitoko Sakai and Chamile Ashton. Cacao Tree would not be here without the staff.
