Specialties
Upscale casual fine dining, private party event destination restaurant. Reservations strongly recommended. A «wow in all aspects», this «transcendent», «romantic» Rutherford BYO «dazzles and delights» with seasonally inspired Eclectic, New American and French styled cuisine offered in grazing portions (aka «Matisse Plates») that come in three, four or five courses… a «consistently attentive» staff, «tastefully appointed» interior (with hand blown Murano glass chandeliers) and «plush» outdoor dining complete this «outstanding» dining experience.
We specialize in hosting exceptional private parties and events. Think of us for boutique weddings, milestone birthday parties and business meetings. We can accommodate up to 50 people. Please call us in advance to book your special evening!
Seating availability is limited and all menu offerings are freshly prepared, exclusively for each evening’s confirmed patrons. Therefore, advance reservations are strongly recommended.
Chef Peter frequently updates the items on his menu to bring you the freshest, finest quality local and seasonal ingredients. Please call to confirm at least forty-eight hours ahead if you have any dietary restrictions, vegetarian, vegan or gluten free requests and we will be happy to accommodate you with a limited specially prepared menu.
We also respectfully request twenty-four hours advance notice for any change in your reserved table.
History
Established in 1992.
Café matisse is nestled in a historic building that was once a fire house, built in 1898. Chef owner Peter Loria renovated the site in 1995 and then remodeled again in 2000. Renovations are currently underway again to bring you an even better dining experience. See you soon!
