Durgin’s the Cleaners At Five Terrill

I dropped my wedding suit off for a cleaning recently, and showed the proprietor the stains that needed to be removed. She took the suit, and said to pick it up in a week, then encouraged me to pre-​pay for the service. When I returned, her husband handed the suit over, smiled and thanked me for my business. Assuming the suit had actually been cleaned, I took it home and hanged it in my closet. The next day, I checked it out, to find that not only were the stains still present, but also new areas of discoloration had emerged. I took the suit back to Durgin’s and the woman curtly said, «Oh yeah, I remember that suit. We couldn’t do anything to clean it.» No offer of a refund, no apology, and no explanation for the new imperfections. Taken aback, I went to their competitor (Modern Cleaners), who looked at the suit and remarked that it seemed as though the pants had only been half-​cleaned, then pressed. They took the suit, and a week later it was totally cleaned. All the stains, both old and new, are gone and the suit looks brand-​new.
In short, the female proprietor of Durgin’s is unprofessional, rude and totally fleeced me for the cost of a cleaning that never occurred. I recommend you go to Modern Cleaners, or just iron the stains in yourself and save some time and money.
