I wish I was born into the family that runs this place. If you are an indecisive eater, this is not the place for you. They have over 300 different menu items on the wall and it can be overwhelming for the picky eater. But no need to worry because you can customize whatever sand which you’d like. The staff is old school and so so so loving. My boyfriend for the grease monkey and boy is that name accurate. He got the meat sweats!!! Very well priced, a bunch of options, large portions and the most welcoming family. Definitely a gem

My buddy and I stopped here because of the 5 star review but we were not pleased. The service was very friendly and the place clean but the chicken parm sandwich was lacking of a cutlet of breaded chicken! The chicken that was on the sandwich was cut into small pieces and there was not very much chicken. There was more sauce and cheese than chicken. Certainly not worth the $ 8 price. The Ruben corned beef sandwich had more sauerkraut than corned beef and again not worth the price.

The customer service is excellent. There are so many different items on the menu to choose from. Everything we have ordered has been flavorful and delicious. The prices are reasonable. You feel welcome with the«hey brother» greeting when you arrive. They are always so pleasant and courteous.

This place butters and grills the rolls before they assemble your sandwich. So I knew it would be on point. House recommended the cheddar roast beef melt and I was sold. Delicious white cheddar ooey gooey goodness on a buttered roll. The Unilocal reviews were glowing so I can’t say I was surprised but this joint lives up to it’s reputation.

Locally owned for many, many years, this shop offers more than just good food — they personally make you feel like you’re welcome here. I totally see why they have 5 stars on Unilocal, and fully agree with this assessment. While downtown Rutland is not what it used to be(there’s a huge Walmart shadowing over it), this sandwich shop goes beyond it’s huge menu on wall to customize whatever you want. And it’s worth the trip!

Thanks to other Unilocalers, as we passed through the area around lunchtime, we stopped in here for a couple of sandwiches. Wow. Just wow. So many choices! I asked for a recommendation– was told their grilled turkey, swiss, homemade dill sauce on rye was the thing. It was! Husband had the Italian. And the proprietors(an older family of 4) could not have been nicer. HIGHLY recommended for lunch if you happen to be in or around Rutland.

My husband, who’s VERY picky, and I ate at the Sandwich Shoppe and were floored! I had the BEST Turkey club I’ve ever had in all my sixty years! Truly! I don’t know if it was the turkey, bacon or what but WOW! My husband too, flipped out, and insisted we come back!(That RARELY happens!) The staff too, are fun, efficient and very friendly. We saw them later on at a Solar Power community thing giving food away, and I thought how responsible and people conscious they were. Can’t say enough about the sandwiches. Y’know, you think a sandwich is just something to eat fast, but these guys have TRULY elevated it to an ART form!!! Bravo guys!!!

Great family run shop run by parents and adult children. The proprietors are super friendly. I went here once with my family, and my kids were acting up a bit, one of the owners came over and talked with my kids. The kids loved the attention and my wife and I got a chance to eat our food without having to constantly ask the kids to stop doing whatever annoying thing they were doing at the moment. The menu is huge. It takes a while to read through all the options. The food is made with quality ingredients and prepared with care. The prices are reasonable. Portions are a good size. The owners are clearly very proud of their business and they should be. It’s worth coming here just for the experience. When was the last time you truly felt like a valued customer rather than being bombarded with hollow corporate taglines. The food is just a bonus. Thank you, brother!

After reading some really good reviews decided to check it out myself. AWESOME! First visit had their Italian. Im a dedicated Gills fan. But they’re not trying to be gills, just doing great food too. Their Burgers are great and they use homemade rolls! Another thing that impressed me was the service. Super nice, willing to make you anything and remembered me from my only visit before. They put alot of T.L.C. in their food and you taste it.

Amazing! We came into Rutland for the day from killington and were looking for a place to grab lunch. found the sandwich shoppe on trip advisor and we could not have been happier. Everything was delicious. The menu is VERY large but the family that works here is super nice and gave us some suggestions. We ordered the turkey club, pauleys island special(one of the best sandwiches I’ve ever had) and the dans chicken salad sub. Seems like a local institution. Definitely worth a visit!!!

The Sandwich Shoppe is one of those hidden gems that eventually ends up on one the Travel channel’s «amazing restaurant shows». The menu is huge and takes a while to read but well worth it. They’re specialty sandwiches are very unique and some are very large. The people are very friendly and recognized me after only being there once. The food is amazing and extremely well priced and they will a accommodate any request possible. If your in Rutland I definitely recommend stopping by for a sandwich.

The Sandwich Shop in Rutland is one of our go to/can’t miss stops when we visit Vermont. The menu is extensive and can be intimidating but it’s fun to read and make a decision. They don’t mind accommodating special requests; which(as I understand it some of the items made it to the menu). This is a family run business; and it shows! Very friendly service; very delightful and they remember their customers. The price point is spot on; you won’t feel overcharged and you will not go away hungry. Stop reading and head directly there and just enjoy!

Super cute shop with a huge menu! I had to sit down for 5 minutes just to take it all in! I Had the Italian Stallion and it was delicious, Also tried the Steak and Cheese hot sub, very good! Very friendly owner/cook and it seems like it is the best option around as everyone we talked to recommended it and it was very busy at lunch time! Definitely check it out if you are in the area!
