Adult area: they have adult books and young adult books – though from what I understand, they’re renovating the second floor from a study area into the young adult area. Lots of places to sit. It’s got an older feel to it; some may find this quaint, but I find it outdated.
Children area: lots and lots of books here in the «basement.» There is a computer room for middle schoolers in one section, some dollhouses, and then a circular area with a large throw rug and chairs. This is great for groups, or to just sit around with your children if they want you to read to them.
I don’t really come here to get work done, only to pick up books. The Westchester Library System is incredibly convenient because these books circulate all throughout the county. What does that mean for readers? More access to more titles. You can reserve everything online and then you will get an email when the title is ready to be picked up. You have roughly a week to grab it before you «release» your hold. I also like how you can renew books online, too.
The librarians here vary. On some days, they’re a pleasure to chit chat with. On other days, they’re way too crabby and can be borderline rude. Guess you just have to cross your fingers that they’re in a good mood when you run in.
I was a book review blogger for three years. I received a LOT of review books over those years. At one point, I wanted to donate a box of books to this library, but I was told that they do not accept donations. Kind of disappointing, but oh well.

Get my DVD’s, CD’s and hardbacks here from the very courteous and helpful staff. A great thing about the Westchester Libary System is that you can put a hold on any item in all the Westchester town libraries (i.e. Ossining, Dobbs Ferry, New Rochelle, etc.) and have it delivered to your branch for pickup at your convenience. And you get a week for first run DVD’s. Try getting that deal from Red Box or Netflix. Even though tax dollars support this, I still contribute when I can for this great service.
Some branches are even lending Nooks or Kindles for e-​reading. If you already have one, you can «borrow» e-​books as well.
There’s a parking lot on the side, but it’s always full. You have a better chance of getting a space on Purchase St because people are coming & going a lot more than people hanging around in the library all day.

They have a good selection and they have express DVDs. These DVDs are intermingles with the non express and often are misfiled. Often when you leave the books and DVDs in the book drop the return them on the wrong day so you have to call numerous times. If you call for almost reason picking up the hones is sporadic and the when the phone gets pick up the say that the reason why you have to call back numerous times is due to budget cuts. Every other library has had budget cuts and I have never experienced such attitude as I have experienced here. I stick with other libraries where people are helpful.
