4 Less Smog Check of Sacramento

This place no longer exists and the phone number doesn’t work. They still have a Groupon and no way to find them!!!

Is this place still open? I had two previously great experiences and have called the shop numerous times over the past couple of weeks with no answer. I finally drove by the other day to just bring my car in and the door was closed. I hope they’re still around — can’t beat the price!

In and out in 20 minutes. Waiting room is cold so bundle up. You drive right in and can watch your car while being checked. I would recommend.

Under $ 30 bucks for a smog check every other year (not including other fees which adds up to under $ 40 still), I ain’t gonna be doing much complaining. Not that there is anything for me to complain about this place. Found this place on Unilocal after looking for cheap smog checks. Once I got here, I pull up and got my car smogged within 30 mins. There were a few cars ahead of me or else the process took about 10 – 15 mins or so? When I was there, there was only one person working, who I presume is the owner. No nonsense, get in and get out. The way I like things done!

Sweet deal! I dropped in to 4 Less Smog Check for a smog test on a Saturday morning and was expecting a wait. Luckily, there was nobody in front of me and I was helped right away. The whole process was easy and very quick. The test cost me less than $ 40 including the extra fees and I was very satisfied with the service. I’ll be back for sure!

Pretty much the cheapest place I could find in the local area to get your smog checked.
I would give it a 5 but it turns out I failed my smog check due to a computer problem with my car. I went shopping around for mechanics to fix the problem and both places I went to told me the same thing– «if they were nice they wouldn’t have smog checked your car until you got your maintenance needed light fixed, because you never pass with that on.»
So either a) 4-​Less knew this would happen and smog checked me anyway b) they’re just incompetent or c) I was lied to twice by different mechanics.
They did give my ½ off the recheck but in the end that pretty much brought me back to a more standard smog check price in the 50 dollar range. The whole thing just left a bitter dishonest taste in my mouth.

There is no bs at this place. Just get it and got out in less than 20! The waiting room inside the garage looks odd but hey at least the owner tries to be all rounded! Haha the best part of my visit is when he even chips in a coupon for a free hair cut at a chain store lol! Will definitely go back for my smog needs! Finest of California!
Anyhow just random rant, this smog thing is stupid and the regulation seems to suggest cars made by the same manufacturer wasn’t create equal when it was bought at another state! Hmmm I wonder how much money the state tries to squeeze us dry before calling quits! ;)

Great place, very quick. Random location, and I’m really glad that he turned my car around for me instead of having to back out onto 19^th at 5pm on a Friday!

Super easy and painless at 4 Less Smog Check of Sacramento. Will be bringing our 2^nd car tomorrow.

I’ve been here twice now, with two different cars. The service is great. No surprises. There is a nice waiting room. There is also stores within walking distance if one prefers to stroll during the smog test.

Very honest with the time frame and how many cars ahead. There is a waiting room available, but I chose to grocery shop at The same time. The man who owns it was very polite and did not require the coupon for the great $ 29 deal for smog check. Not that my car did, but if your car fails the test it’s 50% off to retest. I am highly impressed and I will definitely send my has been there when his car is due for a smog test.

This was definitely one of the strangest encounters that I have ever had with a business owner.
I will start off by saying that I showed up to have my car smogged 15 minutes before he closed at 2 pm on a Saturday. I simply asked him if he had time to squeeze me in and he said he did. I thanked him for being willing to get my car in on such short notice and we proceeded to start the paperwork.
Unfortunately, this is where it gets strange.
I gave him the keys and asked him if he could call me when he was done — there were two other cars ahead of me — and he told me that I could not leave. I told him I had other errands to run and it would just be easier if I came back. He then berated me for showing up 15 minutes before he closed and that if it were any other day he would be fine with me leaving. I decided that it was not worth my time to leave my car there, and since he was visibly upset, I told him that I was sorry for bringing my car in so late, and that it was obviously not a good time for him and that I would be happy to make an appointment for another day. He went on to berate me some more while he went around to get my keys.
It took all of my willpower not to get angry at this man. In hindsight he may have deserved a quick kick in the mouth, but in any case, he may have just been having a bad day, or maybe he’s always a dick. Either way, I’m sad to say that his actions lost him a customer, and earned him a negative review.

Open on Saturdays and close to a nice Safeway and coffee shop!
Easiest smog check ever.
As a young woman, I am often nervous whenever my car needs to be taken to a shop. But, 4 Less Smog Check made me feel at ease. I simply parked my car on the street, went up to the counter inside the small, air conditioned garage, and told the man behind the counter about the coupon I found online. He knew just what I was talking about, and I paid just the amount I was expecting ($ 40 dollars).
It took about 40 minutes («Sorry, there are 3 cars ahead of you miss»). But 40 minutes sounded fine, because I planned ahead and spent the meantime at Peet’s Coffee and Tea, which is 2 blocks away. Before I knew it, I was on done with the hassle that is a car smog and off to enjoy my Saturday.

Came by here to get my car smogged based on the recommendation of a couple of coworkers. Definitely not disappointed. The service was quick and the man Gregory was nice. The smog check only cost $ 38 and he didn’t even ask me for the Unilocal check in offer. It’s within walking distance of the complex with Safeway and Peet’s but it’s downtown so you can practically walk anywhere while you’re waiting for your car. Will definitely go back when I need to get my smog check in a couple of years.

I have no idea why smog tests are so expensive these days. I remember them being around this price, ($ 29. 95 + $ 8 certificate) back in the day. So glad I did my research on Unilocal.
Note: I think an important part of passing a smog test is warming up your vehicle. The technician asked me if I had warmed-​up my car, I did. The only time my car didn’t pass was when I didn’t warm it up. (this was with a different car — 1988 Buick Reatta — she didn’t pass once)
I passed the test and technician pointed out two things that were wrong with my used Saturn that could be affecting performance. Close to Peet’s coffee & Safeway. Also, there wasn’t a line on a Saturday :)
I was worried this place was a scam (too good to be true — the other places I called were $ 56) But glad that it isn’t. At least, it worked for me & my used Saturn. I would definitely use this place again for smog.

Prices was good, waiting wasn’t long…
HOWEVER, I feel like I wasted my money, my time, and worries when I received an aborted smog. While Greg tried his best to get this through, he can only try so much and suggest taking it for a smog repair place to get a diagnostic because he couldn’t get a reading… I give him credit for offering suggestions, along with offering a free retest.
Luckily I found a repair place that drove and found nothing was wrong, and suggested a smog retest nearby, the car passed! I was relieved, and glad I didn’t have to pay a diagnostic fee, when all he had to do was go around to check any issues. I could have taken this back for the free retest but since there was no issues that needed to be checked I am sure that this place would probably get the same result as before. I saved 35 for not having to do a diagnostic that was suggested, and had to pay for doing smog over again.
Not sure why he couldn’t get it to go through when the place I went to did. Although tech did say toyota camry v6 is hard to test and perhaps this is not the place if you have a Toyota V6. Place I took it only took 15 min.

In and out in under twenty minutes and under forty dollars, what’s not to love? I needed to get my car smog checked in order to pay my registration fee. I found this place on Unilocal which is a good thing because I never would have found it on my own.
Located on 19^th street I drive by this place everyday on my way home from work. It’s located just across the street from the Safeway shopping center and next to a car repair shop. Pull in, park and they take care of everything else. I was the only one there at the time and they got my car taken care of pretty quickly. The best part is I went to Peet’s coffee and grabbed a mocha while I waited. They sent everything to the DMV electronically so I was able to pay my fee on-​line as soon as I got home. Getting a smog check can be annoying, but 4 Less Smog Check makes it painless.

Can you give no stars? I went in for a smog check and they failed me because they said that my car computer wasn’t working correctly. I had a belt and battery replaced and the man said I had to drive the car around for at least a week before the computer would reset. Matter a fact, they initially said I passed! After speaking with the other man, they were going to retest the car… No retest ever happened and the said it was my fault for not telling them that the battery cables were disconnected. I am definitely reporting them to the Better Business Bureau.
Gentleman walking by said they failed him because of faulty Ford emissions parts.
While I was waiting a woman came in asking for a refund because they failed her 2004 Nissan SUV but it passed somewhere else.
This place is definitely a scam. You pay $ 29.99 to fail then they give you half off when you come back. Basically pay $ 50 somewhere else. My car has nothing wrong with it or anything to fix. THEY TOLD ME TO DRIVE MY CAR AROUND FOR A WEEK!

After being gouged by unexpected late fees at the DMV (Someone should really write a book on how to avoid them) I wanted to save as much money as possible. Not only was price a concern but timing and distance. I left the DMV around 4 something and immediately turned to my trusty Unilocal app for help. I went to another place that offered a check in offer, but when I was told 65 bucks, I left. On my way back to the DMV I Unilocaled and called a few other places and decided to go with here.
I’m glad I did. Not only the price was good, but the owner was friendly and fast. I was in and out in less than 30 mins and was able to make it to the DMV before closing… Like a BOSS.

With my history of owning low emission vehicles, I get smog checks even less often than I go in for Jury Duty. Fortunately my latest smog experience was made as painless as possible by 4 Less Smog Check.
I had no idea where to go but noticed their «$ 25 Grand Opening Special» sign while driving down Q Street. I pulled in and the place was dead empty. The guy told me it would take less than ten minutes and my information would be automatically transmitted to the DMV — no further action needed on my part. I walked down the street to buy a coffee at Peet’s and was back in less than ten minutes. He was standing there with my keys in hand. His work was already done.
