I’ve tried this place on three different occasions now, originally randomly stumbling into it, as I was passing through the area. My first experience was good. The only reason being, was due to my underestimation on how spicy their spicy breakfast burrito was… With that being an error on my part, I gave this place another shot and was blown away. Don’t get me wrong, I love spicy food, but the first visit, I wasn’t looking for something extremely hot. Nonetheless, the burrito was still delicious, with fresh ingredients. The second chance resulted in a 3rd visit and many more, future ones. The staff is friendly, helpful and definitely eager to please. I’ve tried a few items on their menu and will be back for more. They know breakfast and they do it very well. This isn’t a typical breakfast/lunch diner. They have a unique menu, with their own twist and skillful cooks.

Went for brunch with my friend. I ordered the Denver omelet with sourdough toast. My friend had the huevos rancheros. She said the huevos rancheros was the best she’s ever had. I had a hot chocolate it was average. The toast was good and if you like butter it definitely has a lot on it. The Denver was good, with lots of fresh veggies but the home fries had no flavor. I had to put so much pepper on them and ketchup. It helped a little. Other tables had gotten burgers and pancakes those looked good as well. Next time I think I will try them out. The menu it self seemed like it leans more towards Mexican cuisine. They do have omelets and regular breakfast menu items as well as some lunch style items but mostly Mexican. Overall it was good. Just wish they would flavor the potatoes.

Food: Came here for brunch. As always it was delicious! Got the Meat Lovers Cazuela and Chicken Nachos. It was oh so good! Service: So attentive and polite, I always love coming here. SideNotes: The price range is very reasonable as well, this place is always clean cozy and I love the décor. My go to place for breakfast/brunch.

This place is awesome. Tried it for the first time last weekend, could not have been more happy with my delicious egg, potato, cheese and bacon burrito. Fluffy eggs, sharp cheese, crunchy bacon and well seasoned potatoes all equal a superior burrito

This was my first time here and I was really excited to try this place because of the ratings. We were seated relatively quickly on a Sunday mornning at 9. We were quickly approached for our drink orders, etc, and the follow-up for taking orders was timely as well. It didn’t seem like we waited long for our orders to be delivered. Maybe it was the good company? However, everything arrived together. Cold. Everything was cold. It was busy in the restaurant; our server didn’t check in with us until much later. «How was everything?» «Well, to be honest, everything arrived cold.» «OH! You should have told me!» «Well, this is kinda the first time you’ve checked in with us, and we were hungry.» She walked away after that, no apologies other than her«you should have told me!» Now you’d think, after knowing one of your tables was maybe a little unhappy, you’d pay a little more attention to it. Offer more water, OJ, whatever. Nope. She came to adjacent tables numerous times. I tried to catch her eye for the check, she glanced over once, saw the wave, never came over. About ten minutes minutes later, we just walked up to the podium and waited for our check to be calculated so we could pay. Waited a few minutes while they guy worked. I asked, «Are you especially busy today?» I was trying to throw them a bone. «We are ALWAYS busy!» Okay then, no excuses for the service, then. I’ll probably go back JUST because they’re not corporate food and are a small business trying to make a living, but I’m not sure I’ll do it in the near future.

My first visit here as I live in SoCal. We stopped in for breakfast, my nephew recommended the place. I was impressed. The service was prompt, friendly and efficient. Her name was Veronica and she took really good care of us. I had the sausage and cheese omelette — which was served hot. The ingredients were fresh, the toast was good and the good coffee was served and refilled promptly. My daughter had the breakfast burrito — which se said was good and my nephew enjoyed his biscuits and gravy. So the food was really good and so was the service. The restaurant is clean and so was the restroom. The kitchen has display cooking so you can watch them prepare food — which, being a long-time restaurant manager, I always enjoy. I make occasional trips to SAC to visit my aforementioned nephew, and next time I do, I am going to go to Chewys.

Super fresh food. Great staff. Amazing coffee. What more could you want? Notorious vegetarian egg white omelette eater with gluten free toast. Yummmmmm Anywho, down to the more specifics. I love everything about this place. It’s hard for me to find a place that has healthy options and seriously, this place was the answer for me. The staff is great and always very open and welcoming. I’m starting to recognize them and who doesn’t love being a «regular» right? It’s nice to eat and start your day in a place with so many smiles. It can get busy sometimes but I really love this place so much that the wait is worth it. When I first came to this restaurant I was a little confused because of the way it was set up-it looks like a fast food restaurant, you know? — but I’m glad I gave it a chance. Because this place is seriously a gem. Lol 4 stars cuz there is always like at least one sketchy person outside. It’s not the restaurants fault. But it’s good to be aware of it and make sure your lock your car.

First time here, came early Sunday morning around 7am. Good fresh food, friendly service. Cute interior. Had the spicy cazuela and it definitely had a kick! Said it came with a homemade tortilla, and being someone who grew up with my dad making homemade tortillas every weekend, those were not homemade tortillas. Still okay nonetheless. Only thing I disliked was the plastic plates and mugs. I have a thing about restaurants serving food on plastic. Plastic is very porous. Our coffee mugs were stained with rings, which looked a little dirty and unappealing. Maybe it’s me, but plastic tableware just isn’t as clean as glass or ceramic.

4th time here. Good food! I ordered a vegetarian cazuela and my girlfriend ordered a vegetarian burrito. The food is fresh and the tortillas are home made. It’s a very small diner and you definitely get good service. It’s very clean inside with the exception of some food left over on our seats.

This is a small spot but great for brunch/lunch. The food is cheap! I was really surprised at the prices. Everything is about $ 10 or less. They have one side of the menu for breakfast and the other side for lunch food and serve everything throughout the time they’re open. Parking is small but is adequate to the size of their seating area. Food: I ordered the steak and eggs. Price was a little under $ 10 before taxes. The steak was cooked perfectly, moist and is a typical brunch steak. The sunny side up eggs were the best I’ve ever had. Not too cooked, the bottom wasn’t cooked so much that it was really crispy. The yoke part ran out and like how it should and I would order those sunny side up eggs again! The potatoes served is only the small cubes potatoes, nothing too exceptional. The biscuit was with the meal was okay, they put butter on their already for you. Service: the service was good but not exceptional. The waitress didn’t advise us we had to go to the front to pay so we kind of sat there. Everyone tries their best to get you want you need right away. I would try this place out again if I’m in the area.

Chewy’s is where the Old IHOP used to be near El Camino and Watt ave. They claim to provide fresh food in good portions. I went there on my lunch hour and ordered a Shrimp burrito. The shrimp burrito comes with chips and is a WET burrito [so no eating in the car]. You can choose the type of rice, brown, house, or spanish rice, and beans, refried, black, etc. Come’s with sour cream and house special sauce. You can add guac for a small additional amount. I really enjoyed the burrito almost every bite had shrimp inside, and the shrimp were pretty good size. Food came within 14 minutes of ordering. I had enough time to go to the Natural foods store to pick up a drink and come back.

I am bummed about you, Chewy’s. Chewy’s is housed in an old«IHOP» location. I give them many kudos for the makeover that redesigned the space without tearing down any walls or making huge changes. They have redecorated this place with modern and sleek designs. Unfortunately, as much as I respect the other reviews and the owners’ for making this into a classic American/Mexican diner, the food was lacking for me on both occasions. The first time I stopped by for lunch, I drove out of my way fueled by reviews and stories of deliciousness. My friend ordered one of the burritos, which was HUGE, but lacking in flavor. She dumped the salsa on top, but the salsa, surprisingly seemed out of a jar. It was definitely not fresh. I say surprisingly, because this place is supposed to have authentic Mexican food. I had a large salad with grilled chicken, and while a good size, the dressing was watered down. The iced tea is brewed fresh, and my friend enjoyed her drink. Second time– brunch! I thought, what the heck, let’s try this again. The prices seemed decent and I like that after paying $ 30+ for breakfast in the midtown area. Sadly, after we received our plates, I changed my mind, it is overpriced for what they give you. The SO ordered one of their famous«CAZUELAS», This had potatoes with onions and peppers, mixed with meat(your choice) and covered with 2 eggs any style. He asked for medium well and he got a slab of oily eggs with white good. EW. The potatoes were just smashed potatoes, overcooked but lacking any crispness. I ordered the Huevos Rancheros and was disappointed to discover the un-melted cheese on top of my dish, covered in tasteless ranchero sauce(did not taste homemade– was it a can?) over a small amount of refried beans on 2 cold, slick and oily corn tortillas. The 2 eggs were dripping with grease. I also asked for medium well and had yolk and white goo all over the sauce and beans. Remind me to ask for NO oil on the grill next time. It was oily, greasy, cold, mediocre to average diner food. Period. Diner coffee, which means watered down and in need of tons of cream/sugar/sweetener to get down. I will say, the coffee was only $ 1.95 so at least we did not pay inflated prices for our watered coffee«drink». Service was good. They were attentive and happy to help which is why I did not give this place 1 star. Stomach aches followed our brunch, and I regretted eating my greasy plate. This is not even average diner fare. I would rather save the drive and go somewhere else for this type of low quality food. Sorry Chewy’s!

Located inside the original I-Hop location on Watt and El Camino the bright colors and youthful décor reminded me of Ikea. The staff and servers were young and friendly if not a little inexperienced. We had to ask for drink refills, pancake syrup etc but I still liked our server. The food is best described as standard purchased frozen and then fried up. We ordered a veggie omelet, steak and eggs and a hot pastrami sammie. The omelet was pretty good and the best item out of the bunch. The steak was paper thin and although ordered medium was served well done. Since the steak was well done it sort of made me think of the establishments name«Chewy’s» LOL. My hot pastrami was tasty but nothing you couldn’t get anywhere else. My potato salad was still raw and I had to send it back. Prices are reasonable but not really cheap enough to make me want to come back. The food is standard greasy spoon fair but served by a nice staff. Nothing fancy or special here, but it will do in a pinch.

Several reasons why we wanted to try this establishment out was: 1) We had a coupon; bogo although we had to purchase two drinks. 2) They had been on Good Day Sacramento a couple times. 3) Unilocal had given them four out of five stars. 4) Lastly we had not been here yet! We were planning to eat breakfast but our coupon said for lunch or dinner. Although one could have breakfast all day long we didn’t want to make waves so we chose to have lunch by having a different salad each. Our waitress was definitely on point which in my books gets high reviews automatically. I had an Asian Chicken salad which came with yummy salad dressing on the side and tasted delish with the crunchy noodles, grilled chicken, romaine lettuce, tomatoes, mandarin oranges and cashews. My HB chose to have the Chef’s salad which was good-sized and looked amazing with his ranch dressing on the side. It consisted of lettuce, tomato, cucumber, ham, turkey, hard boiled egg and cheese. We both received two halve pieces of butter toasted roll each. Our waitress did refill our diet sodas without us asking. She was amazing. I was all ready to give five stars until later after my HB had gone to the restroom and watched the cook plate the dishes with no gloves. My HB is very critical about that after having been in the food business and feels that one should have gloves on if they are handling our food. Okay I get it! BTW I lied I have been here before but many years back in the day it was IHOP! and that was before my HB!!! Will we come back? I hope so. I didn’t have an upset tummy! I would love to have another salad again! I think I can persuade him! But we shall see! Almost forgot to mention that this restaurant was nicely decorated in orange & green. Very nice bright colors. They really had to change it up a bit but it looks good. They probably could renovate the restrooms down the line though…

The food is like being at home. It’s fresh and yummy. The potatoes need seasoning though. The pancakes were delicious. The best part… The homemade tortillas. I grew up in la with homemade tortillas. These are amazing. Overlook the sticky floors and long wait. It’s a good inexpensive breakfast joint. The wait staff is VERY slow, and they don’t seem to care much about making someone wait
