Impressed… the«chic» is a chef in the back of a dive bar, but the food is no dive. Differently a talented thai chef that deserves a full service restaurant location. Had the chricken pot stickers, tiger prawn salad and spicy beef, all delicious and full of flavor. Differently a lunch spot in my rotation going forward.

This is the best Thai food in town. Yes, I’ve been to Thai Basil, the Coconut, etc and this place blows the rest out of water. First: It is inside Benny’s Bar — do not expect anything fancy or take your kids. It’s a divebar — deal with it. Second: The Thai chef used to be the chef at the tower café. She knows exactly what she’s doing and she does it really well. Third: The Thai steak tacos will change your life. The food is so fresh and reasonably priced. I eat here at least once a week.

As I write this I’m actually eating my leftovers, and yes this food still tastes amazing reheated!(I would have done the review last night but we were watching The Martian Lol) I’ve never had Thai food before, I always get Indian curry like Vindaloo(love!). But my husband insisted that I try this place because he was there with his buddies and tried the food and loved it. We were feeling lazy on a rainy evening, so we tried to use their delivery service through grubhub, but it said that they don’t deliver to our address… which is only 4 blocks away… so maybe they don’t want waste gas and time delivering to a couple of lazy asses who could easily take 5 minutes out of their day to walk over and pick up their food. Ha ha ha So my husband walked over and picked it up. Also, we called an hour in advance and they happily took our order and had it ready on time. The food is freaking amazing! We ordered the Gang Keaw Wah Spicy Green Curry, the Crying Tiger, and three beef tacos(which aren’t on the menu, you have to ask for them). The Gang Keaw Wah is just beautiful. It was a new flavor for me, a new experience, and wow I just love it! Beautiful and fragrant and delicate, and yet it has an awesome spiciness to it. The Crying Tiger was my favorite, and I mixed a good amount of the Thai Chili Sauce in with the beef and rice. So good! I barely tried the tacos because I was already full from all of the other food, but they were good too. My husband is a big muscular dude who can eat a lot, and he got full off of all that food too. And as you can see, we had leftovers– a full serving of the Gang Keaw Wah and two tacos. Btw we got all that food for under $ 40, which included a $ 5 tip. Will we be back for more? Hell yeah! So get yourself over there and try this little hidden gem.

It’s not a restaurant, its bar food. If youre looking for that kind of atmosphere, dont come here. That being said, food is pretty good.

I ordered through Unilocal’s Eat24 to have this delivered. I ordered yellow curry, which comes with rice, and it gives you the option of mild, medium, hot, or not spicy. That’s really great. Most places only offer mild or spicy. I chose«not spicy». But when I received it, it was in the«hot» range and they forgot to give me the rice. I also ordered shrimp pad thai. For a dish like that, having the tails still on the shrimp is just an inconvenience. You have to go through and take off all the tails before you can eat. But other than that it was pretty good. When I placed my order it said the estimated time to deliver was 45 – 60 minutes. That’s kind of long for it being only 6 blocks away, but whatever. Unfortunately it ended up taking them 1 hour and 15 mins. That’s a long time to wait to eat if you’re hungry. I would not recommend delivery from them since it took so long and they got the order wrong. Also by the time I got my order it had been closed for 15 minutes, so it was too late to call and say, «Hey, you got my order wrong. It’s so spicy its inedible. And you forgot the rice.» So that was money down the drain. All in all, no, I would not recommend them.

This was our first experience with this restaurant and it was via Grubhub(delivery service). So, I can’t speak to the physical location or ambiance of the restaurant. I can, however, speak to the menu and quality of the food which we thought was excellent. We had a salad with beef sirloin and a spicy lime and cilantro sauce; chicken satay with peanut sauce; pad thai; and drunken noodles. All were excellent. The portions are generous, but not absurd. We have leftovers for another meal which we are looking forward to. We had never heard of or seen this restaurant although it is only minutes from our home. We will definitely dine there in the near future.

By far the BEST Thai food in Sacramento. I’ve been to Thailand twice and this is the real deal. Fantastic flavor and good sized portions located inside a friendly local bar call Benny’s that’s on Q street between 20th and 21st.(You’ll miss it if you’re not looking for it) I have found myself going here at least once a week! It’s that good!!! Drunken noodles rock, as do the vegetable stir fry, the pork belly with Chinese broccoli, the curry and the pork ribs when they have them. Everything I have eaten here has been wonderful. Damn, I’m going to have to call for take out now!

Hands down the best food I’ve had in Sacramento in 16 years! Unbelievably fresh, well seasoned and just delicious! The pineapple rice is to die for, the short ribs are one of a kind and the TomYum hot and sour soup feels like you’re bathing your soul in a warm, fresh meadow that’s hugging every inch of your body! My compliments to their chef!

Don’t be put off that this restaurant is in a bar, it’s the best Thai food we’ve had in Sacramento! Everything was so fresh and extremely flavorful! When speaking to the owner Nana she let us know everything is organic! We will be a regulars! Thank you, Nana!

So… It’s a bar lol We were too far away to qualify for delivery, so we decided to pick up. Had to circle the block a few times because we were so confused where the heck it was. It’s inside«Benny’s». We walked into a bar(no attached restaurant), everyone stopped talking and stared at us, then the nice bartender asked if we were there for pick-up. …Interesting experience. Otherwise, food was delicious. Smaller potions than typical Thai restaurants. Their Pad Thai was also different from others, but still tasty. If you qualify for the free delivery, give it a shot. But if you’re ordering take-out, good luck.

Tried this place out for the first time. I ordered delivery. The food was tasty and my son loved the pad Thai but, the portions are ridiculously small for the price. Spent almost $ 30 on 3 orders and the food was barely enough for my husband and I. Can’t say I will be ordering from here again

Ok. So this place is inside Bennies, and it’s awesome. The chef was formerly at Tower Café for many years, and now it’s doing her own restaurant. I have eaten in once, and done pickup. Both were fast and delicious.

Don’t bother. Portions are minuscule and came with a bunch of salad leaves with ranch dressing. What? I don’t order Thai to eat lettuce with ranch. The red curry was tasty but is not enough for even a lunch size portion. And there was a pool of grease at the top. The tiger steak meat was terrible. Tough and cold served with a side of msg-laden vinegar. Pass on this place. There’s better places all around downtown.

Food was good with nice flavors and spice, but portions are too small. ¼ of my drunken noodles was full of raw lettuce chunks. Panang curry was good but again, small for the price. I’ll probably stick to another Thai restaurant in the area.

Best Thai food I’ve ever had. I had the food delivered not knowing what to expect. I wasn’t disappointed at all, the food was a very pleasant surprise. I will re-order again and will venture down to the restaurant to enjoy me some Thai!!!

I love Thai food and even no-so great Thai food makes me pretty happy… but this place may have spoiled me for any other thai food. We ordered the drunken noodles, pirk king chicken and a coconut soup… everything was flavorful and well-balanced. The noodles we big and soft, covered in fresh veggies and spicy sauce. Also, free delivery! You can’t beat that!

Yes!!! I found my new Thai great spot here. Inside Benny Bar, not only I can chill with my friends get couple drinks, Thai food here is the bomb. Pad see Ew is all time good, 0 but it is the best here at Chic on Q.(I also like fried rice and pad thai). Btw, they also offer FREEDELIVERY(within 3 miles), fast, fresh food, taste just right! Give this place a try!!!
