De-stressing On The Delta @ Scribner Bend Vineyards

Wow… it took me WAY to long to review this… my bad.
But I have an excuse! I was soooo destressed that I simply forgot. That works right? Well, it better!
Well, let me just say… wow! I mean… WOW!!! Who would have thought that little piece of oasis existed? I didn’t. I’m so glad I was able to attend this event (although, once the BF and I got lost and we actually drove by this place about a month before the event!). Coming through check-​in *and checking-​in!* the fabulous Asia McGowan snapped photos of my boyfriend and me (with one photobombed by Alex!). We were immdiately greeted with the sounds of Dinorah. So very smooth, soothing and a bit sultry! And then the wine… oh for the love of Bacchus the wine.
After snagging a glass we hightailed it to the spread of goodies. We grabbed savories first (I just KNEW I shoulda grabbed the bacon cupcake when I had the chance!). I loved the bleu cheese filled grapes. Those were surprisingly fantastic.
Prizes were given out (I WON!!! I WON! AND NOT KEVIN T!!! =P) and a wine tour was taken (chick was pretty awesome!).
All and all, an excellent even!

Beautiful day, wonderful wines and amazing hostesses. I just want to thank everyone involved for a great event. The music was soothing, the grounds were lovely, the tour was informative, and the crowd was friendly.
We couldn’t resist taking home 2 bottles of the Tempranillo and a Pinot Grigio as well.

Wow! Talk about a great time on a beautiful Sunday afternoon on the Sacramento delta…
LIMO-​BUS
But first let’s back up (*reverse beeping noises coming from bus*) It started in the Target parking lot for some of us. [Yes, you heard right: «TARGET: It’s YOUR STORE!» In this case, our parking lot!] ;^D
We were greeted by the effervescent Abby ( Unilocal CM from South Bay) who got us all loaded up onto the ROCKSTAR Limo Lounge (
). They proceeded to take us then to Scribner Vineyards where the «De-​Stressing On the Delta» Unilocal Elite Party was taking place.
ARRIVAL
It felt like we were arriving at a beautiful outdoor wedding reception, complete with the pavilion tents and the green arbor arches. Such beautiful touches to an already beautiful scenic backdrop on the Delta.
THE FARE (or should I say «Faire»?)
It seemed like a wonderful Faire afterall! What a treat to see the peeps from Whole Foods Market (
) who put on an incredible spread for us. I mention them first to give a HUGE SHOUTOUT to our Unilocaler buddy JASON JONAS who, for a wild-​change-​of-​pace, was on the OTHER side of the table!
The folks at Vanilla Bean: Frozen Yogurt & Cupcakes (
) made these INCREDIBLE bacon cupcakes that everyone seems to die for — in fact, they ran out rather quickly of this select item!
And what may seem counter-​intuitive, but delightfully was not, was the set-​ups by both Capitol Chiropractic (
) and by Wellness Massage by DeAnna Cavnar, CMT (
) and by Precious Massage Therapy By Angella Darrington, CMT (
). In this respect, we really had a «health fair» at a wine party! Can you DIG THAT? I did!
And I know my buddy Rich Kaz — also a business owner who came with me — totally dug the massage! You can see from the pics I’ve included in the album.
But I was truly inspired by the music by Dinorah — she was incredibly beautiful in her vocal talents that she shared with us. Latin rhythms could sound no smoother than the way she performed them.
SCRIBNER VINEYARDS
Such a wonderful owner-​proprietor and her team of excellent hosts and docent. We had so much fun drinking their sparkly and going on the barrel tour. I want to do that again and again! (Like a roller-​coaster you love, only with drinks!)
But what may seem oddly counter-​intuitive was the diverse of micro-​brews that they ALSO had for us to drink! Wine AND Beer! Wow! WOW! I loved this place! ;^D

These two are your go-​to photographers to capture those memories and catalog the fun times! Since our very wise Sacramento Unilocal CM (Community Manager) ALEX LANE has retained them for our events, I have to share that on a personal level, one of the reasons they are so successful is because — like embedded photo-​journalists on the FRONT LINES (*BOOM!* *PowPowPow!*) — they become such a big part of the event themselves and share their positive contagious demeanor with the rest of us, who WANT to be photo-​journalists like them! ;^D
Unlike other photographers, they are constantly on the move to get those special moments. At this event you found them at the entry where couples got portraits snapped as if at a prom event, at the celebratory toasts congratulating winners and roasting losers (me), AND even in the limo-​bus between points A & B capturing the spontaneous hilarity between travelers. They get it all!
THE Unilocal TEAM
Finally, a Big Shout Out to the entire Unilocal crew that put this together, and of course I mean ALEX and his lovely lady DIANE S. From the limo-​pick-​up, the vineyard & pavilion set-​up, the music, the food, the raffle, it was all so good!
But it was also an undeniable treat for me to see my favorite Unilocal «am-​BADASS-​ador» in the person of ABBY S helping coordinate the functions. Good times, good times…
THE LOWDOWN
A wonderful party at an exquisite vineyard with lots of your best peeps. How could you not want to do this EVERY weekend?!? I sure do!

This was an awesome event!
After a week of non-​stop exams and HOURS of endless studying I definitely needed some time to decompress and remind myself that life doesn’t COMPLETELY suck.
First off, let me just say that Alex did an AMAZING job putting together the event. Despite the BROILING afternoon sun (isn’t it already September?), I managed to have a good time.
Being at Scribner Vineyards, there wasn’t any shortage of chilled vino and beer with which to keep cool. But the goodies didn’t stop there, Whole Foods (my favorite market EVER) was there to provide an assortment of small bites: Fresh Fruit, Cherry Poppers, Shredded Beef Baguettes, Watermelon Gazpacho, etc.
In addition to the small bites, the new cupcakery in town showed up to pass out miniature versions of their cupcakes. I was DEVASTATED at first when I missed out on the first batch of Bacon Maple, but an hour later the baker showed up once again with BIG versions of the cupcakes and I managed to snag the only Bacon Maple. SCORE!
Buzzing off my umpteenth glass of wine, and belly warm from nibbling on food all afternoon, I walked over to the Wellness Massage booth for a couple minutes of much needed tension control. DeAnna was amazing and nearly had me scratching my ears like a dog at several points.
De-​stressing on the Delta was just what the doctor ordered.

What can I say? I haven’t been to an event for quite sometime, and it was SO nice to see such happy, familiar (and new!) faces on a gorgeous Sunday afternoon. Unfortunately, I couldn’t stay the whole time, but got a lot out of my short visit. Its always nice to catch up, hug, and toast with my favorite Unilocalers old and new. (even though I missed certain someones!) For me, events are always about connecting/​re connecting with folks;)
The party bus may not have been my cup of tea, with the loud music (I’m more of a rocker, what?) — but HEY, its a PARTY bus, right?! :)
I ended up leaving for an appointment about halfway through the raffle, and had to laugh on my way out when I heard a certain Mz Rachel likes maple bacon cupcakes.(heehee) Raffle prizes were cool and creative-​I gave my tickets away– and hope they won something! Mr L stayed until the end, and took the bus home, which was a fantastic idea, BTW! I was pretty happy we had it as an option, because if you’ve read my reviews, you’d know that:
1. one of us is usually without a cell
2. we are really good at losing each other
Wine pourers were full of info, and let me know I can order my new addiction, (the sparkling Almond…) or find it in a nearby Costco or Belair. I even saw my lady friend from Vanilla Bean, whom thanked me for my review– woo! I didn’t try any of the food, but it was from Whole Foods, so I’m sure it was spectacular. The vendor was extremely nice and I enjoyed speaking with her.
I saw Stephanie L and a few others get a massage, and Andy said he enjoyed the wine tour, finding it very knowledgeable… its really cool to know how close a good vineyard is. In fact, Scribner Bend Vineyards was so spectacular, I had to make my ride wait while I came back in from a short walk. Oh! and… It’s close to one of my favorite things about Sacramento– the river!
A huge BRAVO, to Unilocal,Alex, Diane, local vendors and everyone else who made this day possible. Classy? Indeed!

Scribner Bend Vineyards = A great host that supplied awesome wines and the perfect setting of this event. The staff was terrific at helping the attendees understand the wine process by provide a great tour.
Whole Foods Market = Providing scrumptious items from simple fruit to Shredded Beef Baguettes, WFM was awesome! Thanks Jason! :D
Vanilla Bean: Frozen Yogurt & Cupcakes = Despite my dislike of cake, I enjoyed the frosting on the cupcakes (my girlfriend ate the cake part). Also, the design of most of items made the cake look delicious!
Capitol Chiropractic= Provided great information though I only glanced ;)
Rockstar Limo Lounge = Looked like awesome limos, though I did not ride in it. Its okay since I had another event to attend to right after.

= Were awesome in providing great massages to the attendees, there were so many people waiting in line.
Music by Dinorah = Melodic and Sweet, Dinorah provided the perfect setting music for an outdoors event.

Everyone at the event looked like they enjoyed each aspect of the event.
I, for one, had a great time!
