Specialties
We love producing all types of events but what sets us apart from other planning firms is our hands-on styling, experience with large public events, our strong marketing skills with financially viable results and attention to customer participation and satisfaction. Our unique solutions to event challenges have incorporated live fish and canaries, a vegan milkshake bar, a centerpiece; 9′ tall featuring a designer umbrella, light bulbs submerged in cylinder vases, a champagne bar from the trunk of a vintage Cadillac, birdcages as flower boxes, crushed ice with fresh grape centerpieces in a wine cave, a Cuban street cigar lounge rooftop of the Hyatt. So can you IMAGINE what we could do working with your ideas?

History
Established in 1998.
Do An Event is the result of a mid-life moment resulting in my re-negotiating my skill sets, education, past jobs and passions. After an array of professionals provided input, my new resume called for Event Planner. As an entrepreneur, it was a seamless transition to create a new company. Do An Event is our second name. Eventures was too popular to be distinct. My first paid event was for a client from my previous business. He was getting married and the venue required they work with a professional event planner. We continue to work with this client today on his international company’s behalf. The next break came when the North State Building Industry Association hired us to help manage their first «Dream Home Showcase.» We came back as show management for their consecutive shows giving Do An Event great public exposure. Today, we foster college student interns, volunteer in our community, continue to be inspired by educational opportunities and work to be leaders in our industry.

Business Owner
Imagine a real life Oppy from Mayberry. That’s ME!
Born in a one traffic-light town in Maryland, I stood out. After a successful paper route at 11, I started my first business (the craft; Ceramics) at the tender age of 15. Success made it possible to buy a car at 16. I majored in Floraculture at my vocational high school and after graduation, I moved to our Nations Capitol. It’s funny now, but while there, I attended Mixology School. I worked in the hospitality industry (all facets) for the next 9 years, taking me to San Jose, CA, San Francisco, then to Sacramento. I LOVE Sacramento and have been entrenched in the community through volunteering and my work. I secured a certificate from UC Davis for Graphic Design and had a part-time career in publishing, advertising and marketing. At the same time I owned and franchised a housekeeping business for 16 years before selling it to create Do An Event. Though my dear friend Bill says to «keep it simple,» I thrive in the chaos of events!
