Was referred here by my hotel while in town for business. Proprietor was very friendly and efficient with his work and I’d definitely recommend this store for people in need of a repair/​replacement.

Went in to get watch battery changed and was in a bit of a hurry. Whole process took less than 90 seconds. Fair price. What more do you want? These guys are the real deal end of story. WILL BE returning for future service.

My 21-​year old Casio running watch bonked! Didn’t act as though the battery was out. Had to fix it! It’s a real trooper and has faithfully kept time for me on many adventures.
Mike told me to keep the watch away from water. He lent me a lighted magnifying glass so I could see where the waterproofing gasket was improperly placed and broken. He then determined that it was the battery after all and replaced it.
My Casio is now ready for many more adventures!
Mike is passionate about his work. Highly recommended.

MJ Doyle brings to his work the kind of pride and professionalism I remember seeing in my father’s watch-​making days years ago.

It’s a pleasure to give over a watch to someone who is not only an old-​fashioned high skilled watch repair artisan, but who has no airs or attitude. Whether you just need a battery or have an old beloved watch that needs repair, he’s the guy.

He fixed my little Catholic medal that I got from my grandpa and did a beautiful job! I wasn’t sure what to expect but I was very happy with the results. Nice guy, and it always feels good to support the small businesses over the big chains. Thanks Mike! :)
Note: The place is hard to find — Merchant Avenue is pretty much an alley right off of K Street. It’s not an actual street.

What a great guy! Super friendly and helpful. I dropped in to his tiny but very neat and clean store to look for a watchband. Mr. Doyle was in the middle of taking apart a watch, but immediately took a break from that work to help me find a watchband that fit (and I loved) and then fixed me right up. Took less than 5 minutes! I was amazed at the number of teeny tiny watch parts he had been working on… that is, until he showed me a container of Rolex watch parts that he had cleaned and would be putting back together later — there were at least three times as many parts in that container! I could tell that Mr. Doyle really loves his work! The shop is on a small side-​street between J and K Streets, and 7^th and 8^th — about ½ block from the 24-​Hour Fitness in the Downtown Mall.

Its good to see there are still small biz guys who actually are happy when a customer walks in the door. I brought in four watches in various stages of disrepair (mostly dead batteries, fortunately). Mike fixed three of them in an instant, and another while I waited. Friendly, knowledgeable, and the price was right (got a 20% discount on batteries because I bought three — not that I would have known that; Mike just offered that up!). He’s located on a small sidestreet just off K and short of the Downtown Mall. Worth finding.

Mike is extremely knowledgeable, friendly and is a pleasure to deal with. I stopped in when a battery died on one of my watches and since then I have only had positive experiences on other watch repairs and services.

When the second hand on my Tag Heuer watch starts sweeping three seconds instead of counting each one, I know that means that the battery is about to die.
I found MJ Doyle here on Unilocal,saw it had great reviews and that it was only a few blocks from my office.
I stopped in this morning and within 10-​minutes, they had replaced my battery and we had discussed service for my watch. Unfortunately, because it is a Tag, the company requires all watches to be sent to them for service.
They also carry a good selection of Hamilton watches, watchbands and jewelry.
If you need service or a new watch, I definitely recommend going here as opposed to a mall jewelry store or department store.

MJ Doyle knows watches. I took an obscure brand winding 50s Swiss watch that was my grandfathers to Mr. Doyle and had him rebuild it. He did a great job, explained all the repairs and stayed true to his estimate. After I spaced and wore it in the shower several years later, he checked it out and verified it was a-​ok for free. He isn’t the cheapest, but he is fair and, most importantly, knows his trade.

I have been dealing with Mike for over 10 years. He is a fantastic watchmaker. He can fix or restore your vintage watch. He also has a great selection of new and vintage watches. I can hardly get out of his shop without buying something. He has a great selection of new Hamilton Automatics. He also has a great selection of watch bands and bracelets. Mike is beyond honest and friendly. He is located near the downtown mall.

Had 8 nice watches that needed battery replacement. Dropped in to MJ Doyle without an appointment and they fixed all on the spot. They were very friendly, saved me a trip to pick them up and provided a very reasonable price. I had been dreading trying to find a place in my area since other Unilocal posts had mixed reviews. I can’t comment on the their jewelry but as far as courteous and quick battery replacement, they would be hard to beat!
