Econo Lube N’ Tune & Brakes

We had both of our cars in for oil changes. Tommy and the crew were great, the price was right, and the work was done quickly. Very good service. The employees are approachable and friendly, with ties to the local community.
We are bringing back one of our cars for additional work (that we already knew it needed) because we were so pleased with our service.
Try them out. They are trustworthy, efficient, and friendly.

I also was surprised at the few negative reviews. So, I will write my review after having them service my families cars for over 8 years. I have been honored to be a customer! My car has been repaired by them for a long time. I am not always timely with repairs or taking my car in for work. I am always greeting warmly and treated fairly. Their prices are honest and reasonable. I have previously taken my vehicles to different dealers and mechanics over my lifetime and have been never confident in the work done or the overpriced charges.
I currently drive from Pollock Pines to have my car repaired at Econo Lube ‘n Tube. I won’t take my car anywhere else. Period.

The poor reviews compel me to write a review of my own. I dropped in after five. The tech showed me my brakes and it was obvious I was due for four new rotors — which is a lot, but my car had a lot of miles and they were clearly done for. He also pointed out the missing CV boot and resulting dry bearings and recommended a new axle. The good news is he was not pushy about any of it, and while I elected to defer the axle, they stayed half an hour past closing to take care of my brakes. So far as I can tell, good shop.
A couple of the one-​star reviews were clearly written by people who don’t know what they’re talking about.

Do not go there. They will rip you off. Bunch of crooks. If you see many warnings about this place, listen and stay away

I have been coming here with my vehicles for years. I feel like the assessments are honest and the prices are fair. Tommy and Jeff are cool and they never try to give me the hard upsale

Great place they always take care of me. I was surprised at some of the reviews I would advise anybody to go there and judge for themselves.

Awful service. They could t fix the problem the first time. They tried the second time and same thing and oh get this I got charged again. The owner is douche. He is so into just making money. The service there sucks. DONT TAKE YOUR CAR THERE THEYLL RUIN IT. YOUVE BEEN WARNED!!!

Super happy with the owner! Had a weird situation but he totally stepped up and was an upstanding business owner! I use to own a business and he handled it the same way I would have. thank you for standing behind your business! Meant the world and totally showed your true integrity!

Came here for an oil change. The people were very friendly which is always nice. They did the usual inspection and told me what was wrong. I fixed one problem because it involved tears in a band so it was a necessity and he didn’t even push on the other stuff. Thanks for that because everyone hates pushy sales people

Walked in at 5:59, guys told me they were closed. And stop accepting cars at 5:30. I wonder who owns this place? Stay open later. Lost my business.

I wouldn’t take my car here. They always check in the car always has some further repairs needed to be done. When I took to the dealership there was nothing wrong with it. Because we are women they think we’re stupid so they’ll tell us whatever they want us to believe. My first car that I took there was no longer reliable, one repair after another needed. You think they get all this on the first try.

Came here a few times for just basic oil changes and as always they do a great job! They even started giving me and my fiancé «frequent customer discounts». My fiancé came in here yesterday for a coolant flush and pressure test and they didnt even charge him for the labor. VERY informative and friendly employees and the owners are great as well. They know our names now everytime were in here. My fiances 1994 toyota 4runner runs like new now thanks to these guys!

Absolute CROOKS. On my car they told me my oil change was more expensive because the type of oil filter, supposedly. I took it to Big O Tires down town and no extra charge, took it to Clays automotives and no extra charge, to M&M once again no extra charge, also to Tim on Folsom blvd yet again no extra charge. Hmmm isn’t that suspicious??? Last week my husband was an idiot and took his truck there for a diagnostic, they said oh it’s the fuel pump. So reluctantly he paid almost 1000 for them to replace it, and guess what his car is still having the same problem. He explained to them he had his fuel pump replaced just 2 yrs ago and they insisted that was the problem. So they replaced a nearly new part on his truck that didn’t need replacing, thanks a lot assholes! We will never return and steer all of our friends and family away from your establishment. Please people stay away

I’ve been taking my Lexus here since I bought it. Jeff, the owner and Tommy are the nicest people and have always, always taken the best care of me and my car. I always recommend them to anyone who needs anything done to their car. They’re friendly, honest and always do their very best to provide excellent service. I moved to Southern California but when I’m in Sacramento, I still come in for service because they are the only people I trust to work on my car.

I Called Econo Lube N’ Tune today to ask for a quote for a Tune Up for my Fiancé’s 2007 Saturn Vue 4 Cyl. I spoke with the store representative and told him the exact specs of the vehicle including the cylinders. I was then quoted $ 69.99 for tune up.
My fiancé brought the car in to the shop this same day and they ended up quoting her $ 229.00 because they told her it was a v6. My fiancé is not stupid and knows what kind of car she has. She kept advising them that it is a 4 cylinder engine. The technician went out, looked under the car and continued to say it was a v6. It is suprising to me that a technician does not know how many cylinders this vehicle has simply by looking at it.
The car did not pop up two more cylinders out of no where. Ive seen the engine. Ive seen the spark plugs. I know how many there are. Ive seen the size of a v-​6 compared to a 4 cylinder. It is daunting to know that this shop has technicians who cant even tell this difference. How many other customers out there are there that have been screwed over???
It has It is my belief that they were trying to overprice her because she is a woman. I believe they thought they could get away with it because she was just another girl who doesnt know shit about cars. They were wrong. Shes a smart woman that knows her car inside and out. The guy who helped her even told her that he spoke with me. Why would they continue to overprice it if they knew the original quote???
Ladies beware of this place and their scams. A 69.99 job could easily turn into a $ 230.00 job if you do not make sure all your ducks are in a row or dont know what car engine you have. $ 230.00 is far off from $ 69.99.
I would NOT recommend this place to anyone. Like the person said below… Oil changes are ok but anything else, they will be dishonest to you especially if you are a woman.

I loved this place. Of course I came because of that cute little commercial featuring the kids. Does advertising work? On this sheep, you betcha! Well I came in after another shop told me I needed my shocks replaced. At 115k, I figured I should, plus there was this annoying squeak, and I knew once the shocks were fixed, so would that leak. The owner came out and gave me some estimates and told me to go with their top quality shocks and he would charge me the same price. Sure why not. I even got my oil changed. They said it would take an hour. NOPE, it took half that time. I left happy as can be, but then, that damn squeak was still there!
I called, and they apologized profusely and said they would take a look at the shocks and the squeak to fix it. The owner personally inspected it and fixed it in less than ten minutes explaining it was something no other auto shop even thought of! I would have gladly paid some coin as a thank you, and he told me it was on the house. WHAT?! That’s unheard of these days.
Will I be back? You bet your ass!
You know how you can tell a good auto shop? Professionally managed, clean waiting room, and they don’t hide their work area to the customers (Seriously, they will take you in and show you exactly what they are explaining). This is a great shop and it comes highly recommended by me.

I came here a few times for oil changes and it was fine. Nice people. My problem is I came here for brakes and THATS where thy tried to rip me off. I say this because my dad is a mechanic, but lives further than is convenient for me. So I run prices past him before I accept and this place tried charging me 450 for a front brake service with rotors. Anyone that knows a little about cars will know the fronts are way cheaper than the back, so this was waaaaay expensive.
I asked for the service order and the parts charge was 200. I purchased parts myself for 65. That included the rotors. I had my dad fix them because he told me they were ripping me off. Obviously, they were. When I told them no thanks, I’ll just have my dad fix them. The guy, who was the owner, said, let me see what I can do about price. Please don’t act like you are speaking to a manager when you’re the owner. I’ve seen the commercials. He comes back and says 325. Nope. You mean you admitted you were ripping me off and want me to accept a 2^nd stage rip off.
So, took it to my dads and got it fixed for 65. Obviously, I got a major discount, because no labor. But that meant econo lube was charging me 250 for labor when it takes 30 mins tops to fix them.
Oil change — ok
Anything else — stay away; dishonest.

Ok so here’s the update I promised… After I found out they drained and killed out my battery replacing my «air pump» I replaced my battery and realized my shifter button is loose all of the sudden as well and is about to fall out, as well as for some reason my a/​c is now not working anymore either … What did they exactly do?! I don’t know what’s going on but my car was in excellent condition all the wAy around except check engine light popped on (thAts why I took car in) but I know they must have done obviously wayyyy too much cuz now all these problems when I get my car back. Please trust me n don’t risk your car here!!!

I am really surprised at all the horrible reviews! I have been in here twice (one oil change and one service) and I had amazing service each time.
I had to replace the boot on my front right wheel and it was the most inexpensive estimate out of the shops that I called. They got me in quickly and replaced the part efficiently.
Don’t be deterred by the bad reviews; this place is great.
