This store is def my favorite Halloween store! I Love shopping here for costumes which you can find on the upper floor. The staircase is very narrow but they also have a glassed elevator. They have all kinds of costumes, costumes that you probably haven’t even imagined. Anything from wigs to face masks, face paints, boots, clothes, wings, gloves in all kinds of colors. There are so many cool costume ideas that you get from the moment you walk in here. It is a little on the high price though.
If you are not looking for costumes and they have all kinds of neat things that you can find. Gifts, toys, funny signs, silly hats, magic tricks, just all kind of neat things to check out!!!

Can’t even put into words how much I love his place… Especially Evangalines Costume Mansion. This store is just sooo much fun. You can find any costume and accessory imaginable. Truly the best selection I’ve seen in the U.S. !!!

Love this store in old Sacramento. My daughter stayed in the area as tourists and ended up visiting twice. Such cute stuff. Things you probably would find online and not.

Great service I was there yesterday had my hand full and one of the employee asked if I wanted a basket which I never knew they had some how awesome is that like this store you can calmly go through the whole store with out anyone bugging you or following you every time I need help or a question i get help right away one time they didn’t have my size on a tshirt and they called me telling me they had got more in and save one aside for me until I went back and I live a little bit over a hour away I just love this store I always come out with the nicest things and unique stuff and most importantly happy thanks staff keep it up

It’s inevitable. Every time I visit Old Sacramento, I have to visit Evangeline’s.
Maybe it’s the fart merchandise, the hilarious over-​the-​hill gifts, never-​seen-​before gadgets, the endless amount of gag gifts, or the funniest signs and greeting cards that give me a thrill… and giggles.
Maybe it’s the bacon wall… from bacon lip balm to baconnaise to bacon soda to bacon toothpaste… Really? I guess bacon DOES make everything better.
Or maybe it’s the off-​the-​wall toys, comical t-​shirts, nifty household gadgets, and the assortment of costumes that lure me to this overwhelming place.
Whatever it is… it’s a perfect place to kill a lot of time with very high entertainment value. Also a fun place to de-​stress from work or conference.

I freakin love this place. Three stories of all the psychotic crap I could ever ask for! Today I bought pilgrim costumes for my daughter and I.

I’ve never been to a store so fun and so full of so many interesting items! Came here randomly after finding it on Unilocal and decided it would be fun to check it out with my bf. We both enjoyed browsing through the whole entire store. We probably would have bought something if it weren’t for the parking meter. We spent a little less than an hour looking through everything but I feel like I could have stayed a lot longer. I definitely would come back here with other friends and actually buy some of their stuff!

I love this place. When I think of Old Sac I think of Evangeline’s. There is a 3 story Costume Mansion as well as a down stairs that carries everything from plushies to swords and a wide variety of pop culture merchandise. The Costume Mansion is open all year long and thats super nice now. I mostly come here to buy harry potter merchandise. They are always restocking and refreshing it up and now sell wands so thats pretty cool. I think everyone should check it out for all your nerd and costume need.

I love this place!!! It’s kinda pricy but they have some really cool stuff!!! It’s really a trinket store. They don’t sell one particular thing. It ranges from ninja swords to dragons to zombies etc… The employees are usually really nice and work with you pretty well. Would give it five it wasn’t so expensive :/

Downfall: tiny spaces!!! It’s really hard to get through here without being back to back with someone.
I love that they have tons of dress up stuff, right now it’s almost Winter and they have all sorts of dress up stuff from full on outfits to the little tiny detailed things needed for costumes.
I like how they have different sections for all different types of things– little girls area, dia de Los muertos area, glow in the dark area, silly jokes area, etc.
They sell costume jewelry pretty cheap and I love it ;)

It’s touristy, it’s fun, it can be a big raunchy but get over it. No need to get judgy judgy — this is the kind of place that you’ll accidentally spend half an hour in and find yourself saying, «Sooooo cute!» about 37 times, then picking up things and showing them to your friends. it’s kitschy, it’s hilarious, but no, I didn’t buy anything since I’m making a concerted effort to not fill my home up with useless stuff).

Evangeline’s is koo they have all kinds of weird over priced shit for tourist that come to visit old sacramento. One thing they also have is very good undercover loss prevention security. Those mirrors ur looking into while trying out a hat or mask are actually to way mirrors so be very careful cuz u will get caught shop lifting real quick like!
Halloween is their trip tho they have hella customs and wigs, mask paint and they even open the upstairs so u could go shopping but they do get busy. U are better off parking in the parking garage or parking at the plaza parking lot and walking to old sac specially if u got ur parking validated, take a stroll and look around. I like coming here but just once in a while i get bored quick ir ur coming to visit sac def hit this spot.

Evangeline’s is a unique store for the region that really makes Old Sacramento a great destination. Essentially, they are a costume shop combined with an adult novelty store, but they seem to really do an incredible job with both right on K Street in Old Sacramento. Parking really is the most challenging part of your visit.
They are ground zero for Halloween and any other costume parties. Evangeline’s stocks a great collection of wigs, makeup, and accessories for any outfit. Their costumes tend to be about 70% Female and 30% Male with mainly adult versions. This is a great primary destination with using Spirit or The Party Place to supplement your outfit and party.
This is also a good place to get some cosplay and intimate role play ideas and outfits, even a decent steampunk area. You can literally tickle your fancy with the wide range of options, especially when the upstairs costume museum is open. They also have a wide selection of gag gifts and off-​color greeting cars perfect for that special awkward moment. Prices are a bit high, but you are paying for location and uniqueness.
If this piques your interest, join the crowd and head in for a trip to fantasy land. Just remember your credit card!

You will need a few hours to look at everything in this store it is huge and super packed with some crazy items. No matter if it is weekend or a weekday it always seems I’m having to maneuver around quite a few other customers. They have something for everyone. Guaranteed to find a gift for anybody because there are thousands of items. Prices range from super to cheap to pricey. It would take forever to list all the sections. To name a few there is the wine lovers section, the crazy greeting cards, partiers’, flower lovers, costumes, fairies, witches, day of the dead, glow-​in-​the-​dark, and so on. I always have to buy something fun for myself and my peoples.

I love love love this place! I’m like a kid in a candy store here. A friend of mines told me I had to come to this place and check it out, since it was my first time here in old Sacramento. It’s such a unique and a gem of a place in Old Town Sacramento. You can literally get lost in here walking around and get lost with time because it is a huge place with 3 floors. They have everything under the sun that’s fun from gag items like note pads, poop on the end of a pencil, mugs, wine glass, food items like BBQ sauce (my fav was the special sh*t & hot sh*t), etc, etc. There are so many knick knacks here, something for everyone. It’s a great place for souvenirs if you’re here for a visit from out of town or great for stocking stuffers or birthdays.
They have a 2^nd & a 3^rd floor with an elevator. This place is excellent for Halloween season or whenever you’re in a simple or amazing costume for something else. They have individual rooms set up for certain themes like, 1920s, police, firefighter, roman, fantasy, and Disney themes as well. Having everything to make your costumes look complete like from makeup, face paint, mask, wigs, accessories, hats, shoes, you name it they have it. I was in awe with their venetian like mask for a costume party. 2 – 3 walls worth, made it so hard to choose anything cause there so beautiful (my sister is a collector).
A must visit place when you’re here. Really fun for the whole family too. Here’s a awesome thing about them and something fun to do as well, near the cash register they have a map of the store but it’s also a scavenger hunt. ;) happy hunting.

I really don’t know how to explain my experience here. All I know is that I was in a candy store of goodies. From poop pencils, to Harry Potter glasses, glow sticks for your hair. So. Much. Stuff!

Awesomely unique shop in Old Town Sacramento! I can always literally spend hours in here just for fun! They have a variety of items that will either blow your mind or make you laugh until you can’t breathe. There’s little cool trinkets and items, anywhere from bacon themed items to poop themed items. There’s coasters, stationary, masks, clothes, and the list is just endless.
They have a 2^nd AND a 3^rd floor with an elevator. This place is excellent for Halloween season or whenever you’re in need of a cool costume. They sell masks and costumes of all sorts all year long. Masks, wigs, body/​face paint, accessories for your costumes, you name it!

I made a recent shopping trip to Evangeline’s in Old Sacramento. Despite all the five-​star reviews of this place, Evangeline’s has been the hype which has always escaped me. It’s a nice enough store, with all of its toys & games and humorous novelty items. But do these toys have long-​term playability value? A Cops & Robbers plastic stick of fake dynamite is $ 2.50. A six-​year old is going to play with this toy for a grand total of thirty-​seconds before they get bored with it.
There were a few toys which did capture my attention, brought out the inner-​child in me, and has long-​term playability value. A boomerang sells for $ 5.99 and the more premium Foamstrike switchblade boomerang sells for $ 10.89. Both toys can be played with again and again and were reasonably priced.
Onto the snacks. An Ass kickin’ habanero popcorn sells for $ 1.99 per packet, not per box. The Hottest Fuckin’ Sauce (those are the exact words) is $ 3.99 for a 1.5 oz. bottle. No, that’s not a typographical error. 1.5 ounces. For four bucks.
Evangeline’s is a novelty shop but the novelty tends to wear off rather quickly.

This is my 100^th review and I only started Unilocaling a year ago :) I am so excited. I wanted to make sure to review a place I love for this one…
Evangeline’s is my favorite place in Old Sac. There is literally something for everyone in this store! Don’t know what to buy your coworker for their birthday? Need something interesting for the house when people come over? Want to kill and hour messing around with friends? From cards, to cute accessories, to clothes, to books, home décor, to «adult» items, to baby clothes, this place has what you need. Just visiting the store puts a smile on my face… just like this review :)

This is one of my most favorite stores to visit in Old Sacramento. I don’t think other costume places compare with the quantity, quality, and enormous variety of costumes, accessories, make-​up, masks and wigs that this store carries! The building itself is an historical monument with three levels. You have to climb the steep and creaky stairways to get to each floor, but once you get to your chosen destination, you will probably be awestruck. I know I am each and every year I shop here!
There is a multitude of separate rooms that feature similar themes of what type of costumes you are interested in. Scary, sexy, funny, campy, historical, or off the wall, you can’t go wrong finding what you need! Buy the complete outfit, or mix and match to your own taste and budget. They are always well stocked with most sizes, colors and variations. I always like to start with a basic outfit and then get into a creative design mode to make it more original looking. There is so much to see, that your ideas and inspiration will be fulfilled throughout every room from top to bottom.
Besides dressing for Halloween once a year, it’s nice that some of the Unilocal soirées we go to, have a fun theme that allows us to dress according to the event. I’m tired of being a boring, average citizen! The needs for leaving reality behind and entering a fantasy world are important for mental health. That’s my story and I’m sticking to it!
