Specialties

Evangeline’s carries toys, novelty items, greeting cards, costumes and gifts for people who enjoy a good laugh. Need a white elephant gift? That’s our specialty! You will also find Steampunk, Japanese kawaii, metal and foam swords for cosplay or display, kitchen gadgets, tutus for your princess, redneck humor, over-the-hill items, frilly girl stuff and raunchy guy stuff and vice versa. Get a treat with every purchase. (Unless we run out, sorry) And a $ 5.00 coupon for parking (min $ 5 purchase).

History

Established in 1974.

Evangeline’s was the first tenant in the historic building, The Howard House (1863) when Old Sacramento was undergoing reconstruction.

We opened just in time to catch the Disco craze. Then we caught many other crazes along the way. We expanded into the even more historic building next door, the Lady Adams (oldest building in Sacramento!) and then The Costume Mansion opened in the upper 2 floors in 2000 and is now open year round. That’s about it for history.
