Fallen Leaf Tree Management

Been using Terry of Fallen Leaf Tree Management for many years, as I’m a commercial property manager. He knows his stuff, is great with communication and follow-​through.

I am an HOA manager and I have hired this company for several large and small jobs over the years and have NEVER been disappointed. Their prices are very reasonable and their work is top notch! They always stick to their quotes too even if they have encountered more work than was originally estimated. I have worked with many tree companies over the past 20 years and Fallen Leaf is the only company that I recommend to friends, family and clients exclusively. Terry and Gabe are the best of the best A++++++++++++++++++++++

I would definitely refer this company to others as well as use them again for any future tree work. They just spent 1.5 days removing a large dead Silver Maple tree that was within a few feet of our house, trimming several large Elm trees to reduce the end weight and thin out. I only wish I had taken before pictures as the «after» are beautiful, majestic trees. Every safety consideration was made concerning the guys on the ground removing the cut branches to neighboring fences and property.
Jim is a certified arborist and even gave us ideas of what kind of tree to plant to fill in some space in our back yard.

Very pleased with everything from their office staff to Jim the tree expert who helped me decide how to best manage this forest of huge redwoods (11) and can’t say enough about the 3 man team who cut and trimmed the trees. Unbelievable to watch them scale these trees that are easily 3 – 4 stories tall. They used a rope pulley system and were very safety conscious for themselves and the crew on the ground hauling away the debris. Amazing that they did all this within feet of two neighbors and three fences and nothing damaged. Neighbors so impressed that they called for the contact info. The 3 man crew were not only masters at their craft but so pleasant to have around as they worked. When they left each day the yard, driveway and street were clean. My forest looks so much better and is healthier for the future of the trees. I will be using them in the Fall to trim the rest of my trees after I see what makes it through the summer. Next week the grinding guy will come to finish the 3 stumps from the trees we removed and I will review that part of their service as well.

Terry has worked with me on a commercial property for several years and has pruned trees, removed trees, and replace trees in a shopping center. I have always been able to reach him by phone and he always gets me his estimates in a timely manner. He gets the job done! I recommend Fallen Leaf Tree Mgmt.

Every time I have used Fallen Leaf I am impressed with the quality of their work. They keep the trees on my property healthy and looking good.
They do what they say they will do, on time, and the trees look good.

Fallen Leaf removed a tree, and pruned and shaped two others in our front yard. We got a total of 6 quotes and Fallen Leaf was not the cheapest or the most expensive, but our neighbors used them and were happy, so we went with them.
Three men did the work over the course of about 6 hours. My husband and I were on the fence about keeping some of the wood, because we didn’t want to have to rent a log splitter and deal with a large amount of wood. The day of the job the guys said they’d be happy to leave some of the thinner limbs. They even cut them to size for firewood for us.
They did a very nice job cleaning up before they left. They even got a bunch of the leaves that were there before they came this morning.
Overall, very happy with the service! We would definitely call for future tree-​related needs.

Fantastic. I have never dealt with a company as punctual and professional as this. I initially called for an estimate to spray trees. Terry showed up at the exact time scheduled as if he was sitting in the truck for the exact time to knock on the door. Same thing happened for the day of spraying. I then called for removal of other trees and again, punctual as ever for the estimate. The crew showed up at the exact time as well. Removal and clean-​up was such that one would never know trees were ever in place. Wish they did other jobs I need done. I would trust all work would be perfect too. I’ve just had Fallen Leaf perform a clean up of a 60 year old ash tree in my yard. Fallen Leaf did exactly what they said they would do at the price they said they would do it at. The workers were extremely professional and left my back yard better than they found it! I have no reservations recommending them.

Have a tree issue? CALL THESE PEOPLE! I will never use anyone else.(And I’ve had some real winners in the past) From the receptionist Nicole to the crew that came out, everyone is fabulous. There was an issue with a stump grinder, the initial appt they brought out one tooooo small. The 2^nd visit, they broke it. Now I’m frustrated casue I’m out of town, and still have stumps. grrr But, Nicole fixed everything!!! 3^rd x was the charm. They took care of me. This company walks the walk and talks the talk.

Fallen Leaf has a good reputation on Angie ‘s list, but I had not seen the reviews on Unilocal before we called.
We called Fallen Leaf for an estimate and Gabe came out. He seemed very friendly and knowledgeable. He told us that they would cut down the tree in question and then cut around the stump and poison it so that the invasive roots would die. They came out on time and had the tree down fairly quickly. They cleaned up all of the tree mess and threw the thing into a chipper. That’s when the appointment turned weird. This other heavy set guy shows up and says he’s there to remove the stump. We explain to him that Gabe told us it would be poisoned and left to sit there for a few weeks. This tree produces a lot of suckers and the poison was supposed to help with that problem. The guy had a bit of an attitude but said that since it was supposed to rain that evening, he would be back the next day, after the rain, to cut the stump and poison it. So the next day goes by, and nobody shows up. Then another, and another, and another. I finally call Gabe, and he told me that they would be out that evening, and they were. I can’t help but to think that had I not called, nobody would have come out. So to sum it up, Gabe is a nice guy and has some great employees, just make sure that everything you expected and paid for is done.
BTW — the «poison» isn’t doing jack. The demon tree and it’s spawn live on. I did some research that stated that the poison should have been applied within 24 hours of the cutting of the tree. I’m not sure if that’s what the problem is but it’s still there — mocking us and seemingly producing more spawn. Dumb tree

What a great company this is! The staff member who worked with me was so knowledgable. We were able to have exactly what we needed done and keep it within our budget. The employees who performed the work were very considerate about my garden and the surrounding areas. I am so grateful to have found this wonderful company.

I’m back. Even after my 1-​star review of Fallen Leaf last year, I still stuck with them. Why? Even with the hiccups with mis-​communication and the delays with them getting back to me, I do like working with Terry, one of the sales/​project managers.
Terry has been working with me for 7 years as I worked on removing poorly chosen Chinese Tallow trees from our community (don’t EVER plant a Chinese tallow, btw). After recovering from tight HOA finances caused by the housing meltdown, my on-​again off-​again attention span over the last couple of years, and an extremely wet 2011 spring, we finally got the last of the Chinese tallows out and their replacements planted this morning.
During this time, Terry was very informative and would patiently share his knowledge of trees that he felt would work in our unique situation of very small planting areas that were packed with underground utilities below and small canopy growth areas above.
His crew that came out today was cheerful as usual and even humored me as I directed them to move a tree or a stake 6 inches here or there (I’m a landscape architect … I can’t help myself).
Even with some of the issues I’ve had with them in the past, AND the fact that I do have to camp on them at times to make sure they follow through, they vindicated themselves with helping me get rid of these terrible trees and finding appropriate replacements.
I now upgrade their stars to three.

Risked my LIFE and do not care at all.
I will make this as short and sweet as possible. Fallen Leaf Tree Services risked my LIFE and seem to have no care at all. I was driving down San Antonio in Palo Alto, they had one lane blocked off. There was much traffic due to this, which is completely understandable. As I am driving by at about 5 MPH or so a HUGE branch fell from about 12 feet high. If I did not slow down it may have went through my windshield, or it could have fallen right in front of my vehicle, or on top, etc. It hit my brand new BMW M3 wheel and damaged it. The branch, or should I say tree, was about 10 inches wide and maybe 2 ½ feet long. I heard all of the crew yelling. I pulled over and whom seemed to be the foreman walked up to my car. He was very nice and very concerned (not to be mistaken with the so called owner.) He kept pointing blame to the person who was cutting down the branch. Said he was under trained, and made a huge mistake and that they would rethink his position with the company. I told the foreman not to worry, because I was not injured in the situation, and he is lucky that it was not an elderly person or a young driver who would not know how to handle the situation. I got his number and drove away. I was upset about my wheel because they were so new to me. I called my mechanic and got an estimate for the repairs. I called the tree service place and sent them the quote. The so called owner called me back. I believe his name is Gabe Bieler. I do not know how to spell the last name. He called back, came and looked at my car, and HAS NEVER RETURNED MY CALL. I am in the process of making a claim with the City of Palo Alto, Osha, and taking them to small claims court.
The owner has no care about the community and/​or the safety of us. Nor does he care to repair the damages his company has made.
I often wonder if he has a wife, a daughter, a niece, a grandmother, a mother, or any female he cares about in his life and what he would do if something like this happened to one of them. He obviously has no concern for any other persons well being.
I just thought I would let anyone know who drives by any of their trucks to make sure to bring your helmet in case of an emergency.

Fallen Leaf seems like a pretty good organization. They promise a lot, but didn’t deliver. I had a tree removed, which was located very close to my house. I knew there might be some damage because the tree was huge.
However, they made it sound like anything they boke, they’d fix. The crew scrapped the side of my house with the tree limbs and bashed in a gutter. When I call them about the problem, they said they’d send their «expensive» repair guy out to look at it. Never heard a peep!
Also, the guy that came to do the stump grinding only did part of the stump. Not too happy with Fallen Leaf.
