This place is closed until further notice. Don’t make the same mistake I did and bike all your laundry to find that out.

Nice staff, and efficient machines. Half, however are out of order! When I asked the employee/​owner why they don’t get them fixed, she told me that they are in the middle of getting a loan to renovate and upgrade the whole place, including all new machines, vending, and an ATM. That would be SUPER! I hope it happens, and SOON!

This place is disgusting.
Look, I know that laundromats aren’t usually the cleanest places (which, when you think about it, seems odd for an establishment where the whole point is to remove stains and dirt from clothing), but Fort Sutter falls way, way, way below what I consider to be acceptable. On my last visit there I sat on a bench and stared up at a gigantic hole in the ceiling, and I don’t mean a few feet wide, I mean ¼th of the ceiling is just missing and I’m staring at years and years of mold and who knows what hanging above my head.
The floors are dirty, every machine is dirty, and seeing a few bugs crawl in and out of the wall units is not a rare sight.
There are a ton of washers onhand, but unfortunately more than half of them are always out of order — the same goes for the dryers. The staff minds their own business for the most part and is pleasant enough when you need change, which you will because the change machine doesn’t take half of the bills you try to feed it.
And the pricing… if it were any other laundromat that didn’t have so many negatives I’d say $ 2.75 for a wash and dry is just fine, but the fact that Fort Sutter is in such disrepair and so dirty makes $ 2.75 seem high. If you’re not going to spend any money on keeping your business running smoothly and not looking like a set interior from a post-​apocalyptic film then you should be charging me less.
For the lone laundromat in midtown, and situated in such a busy and prosperous neighborhood, you’d think Fort Sutter would mirror so many of the other businesses in the area as far as quality and appearance go. Nope! If you’re in a pinch go for it but I’d rather spend an extra quarter or bike a bit further to clean my clothes at a laundromat that doesn’t feel like it’ll cave in on itself.

I do laundry here once a week. The owner is very nice and always says hello and goodbye. It is located about a block away from my apartment. Very convenient and fair priced. I have never had an issue finding two or three open washers or dryers next to each other.

This place is showing it’s age. The cartoons on the wall above the dryers are cute, but I doubt many people in my age group would know who they are.
The machines work okay, but most are usually out if order, so if you come during a busy time good luck. It’s also kinda expensive, ($ 2.75 is ridiculous or a top loader) but its nice that you can dry for free (I usually do two 15 min cycles).
Some of the staff aren’t that great (one woman usually won’t stop talking to me), while others just keep to themselves (which I appreciate). If there was a closer place I would probably go there, but it’s convenient so I’ll continue to come here.

2.5 stars were initially my thoughts, but the «meh» really did it in for 2 stars overall.
The prices seem a little high, but the drying is free, which is a nice perk. $ 2.75 for a standard load. Larger front washers that can do 3 – 4 loads are disproportionately more. $ 7 and $ 9 They’re all pretty decent, but pre-​treating clothes doesn’t hurt.
Let’s get back to the free drying– large industrial dryers that hold several loads. They’re preset for 15 min increments which is enough if you dry your clothes on high. I personally dry mine on med-​low so as not to ruin fabric so my clothes last longer. It usually takes 30 – 45 minutes on lower settings. Towels and comforter covers dry speedy fast on high though.
Overall, it’s a public laundromat. It’s stinky in there sometimes. Every time I’m there, at least one washer is out of service. The was one time there were more than 10 out of service. I think you’d need to have a full service complimentary cocktail bar to give a laundromat more than three stars. I mean, who really loves doing laundry and folding underwear in public?

Aside from the majority of their washers being out of order, there dryer got so hot it burned my clothes. There were ploums of smoke coming off of them and they smelled nasty. I asked the owner about it and she said «it says it gets hot. You’re supposed to check it after 15 minutes».
I didn’t know a dryer was supposed to gkeep getting hotter and hotter. Is it not supposed to stay at the same temperature?
Thankfully they had a disclaimer sign signifying that your business with them is «at your own risk «
Too bad I won’t be going here anymore. It’s the closest laundry to my house and I’ve been washing here for years. Really turning into a terrible dumpy place.

UNLESS THEY CHANGE THERE POLICIES AND ATTITUDES I CANNOT REFER ANYONE TO THIS BUSINESS.
First, apparently front loaders and ‘power washers’ as one of the attendants insisted on calling it, are incapable of being used appropriately with a full load. Since these tight wades give free drying they feel the need to up the cost of washing and disallowing a full load of laundry in anything since they obviously aren’t making enough money off of 9 dollar ‘power washers’ and 2.75 top loaders. They require a full foot of clearance in order to use these ‘new’ machines or they’ll ‘break.‘
Do not go to this Laundromat, the staff is rude and completely disrespectful.
After filling my clothes into the ‘power washers,’ I was told I needed to allow for more space in order to still get free drying, of course I also had to explain that I couldn’t understand the attendant, since her English was choppy and she refused to talk while facing me. Then when I tried to use the regular machines, and missed the flapping sign saying no blankets, the attendants daughter felt the need to suggest I go elsewhere since my money is apparently not good enough for these people. After explaining that I simply missed the sign due to the movement she told me I needed to have at least a foot of clearance on the top OF ANY FRONT LOADERS, which defeats the point of using it in the first place.
After hovering over me for a full 10 minutes I finally asked her to leave so I could continue doing whatever I saw fit since I knew for a fact she would be checking how I loading my laundry regardless, she could at least wait until I finished before ‘clearing’ me for starting my laundry. I eventually just walked out after explaining that a less aggressive stance would be appreciated when approaching a customer, and if they want to refuse service to anyone who knows how to use laundry facilities they should put up a sign that isn’t flapping in the breeze.

An embarrassing excuse for a business in the city of Sacramento. Over half the machines have been out of order for years, it is not clean, and most of the staff — notably the weekend afternoon staff — are unquestionably the rudest most careless employees ever to be encountered. A recent visit resulted in clothing damage in a dryer — not only did they refuse any assistance, they could not even extend themselves to put up a sign warning the other customers. Beware, people of Sacramento — this is a sad place …

Absolute hole.

2. A machine ate $ 2.75 and the attendant wouldn’t refund my money and blamed me for «slamming» the door shut. Please…
3. Yes, it offers free drying but the small washers cost $ 2.75 which would be the equivalent cost for washing/​drying at any other laundromat.
There are plenty of laundromats in the midtown area so I won’t be back.

I have mixed feelings on this place, but because it’s super close to my place, I go there nearly every week to wash. So I can’t say I won’t ever go there again, or that I’ll go somewhere else in the future, because I’m a lady of convenience and my clothes have never caught on fire (though I hear that’s not the case for everyone). Recently I’ve been going there in the evenings, on weekdays, and have had great customer service from the older gentleman working. He’s always kind, gives change and keeps an eye on the place. He even remembers that I usually come in after getting my yoga sweat on. Super sweet. And evenings are less crowded than the bustling weekends, which can bring out my nerves. However, not sure if she’s the owner, but the older woman there during the days can be, well, a bit abrupt. I was having issues with my quarters getting stuck/​not going through the washing machine thingy and notified her of the problem. She made it seem like it was my fault for not pushing hard enough on the quarter. Not a huge deal, but the manner it was communicated was not the best in business terms. Also, though I’ve never had a problem finding a machine, many are out of order and over the summer, the ceiling was leaking. Must be fixed now though. I will say it’s affordable ($ 2.75 to wash and drying is free). And close. And across the street from good Mexican food/​drink and nearby a cute clothing store that I can’t seem to keep away from. So, convenient and cheap, but in need of a facelift and perhaps better attitudes from some staff. Free drying is cool though.

The first few times I came here I was OBSESSED.
Both the staff (Darrell) and the other patrons were super friendly and helpful. They have amazingly hot and fast (think comforter dried in 15 min fast!) dryers that are free when you wash. It was never crowded, and everything seemed to be clean and in good condition.
But then, one day, things changed… First of all, the a/​c stopped working, so it is hot as blazes in there most of the time. Secondly, a good number of the machines are out of order. The last time i came only one of the large washers was working, so if anyone else wanted it you were SOL unless you were willing to spend $ 10 for the super large washer. Finally, and most frustrating of all, bums bums bums! I know, bums are people too, but the last thing you want when you’re spending good money to wash your clothes is to feel like you need to go home, take a shower, and wash them again. Something has to be done about this. The last time I came, the entire facility smelled like piss because of one woman. Talk about stressful!
I decided to give it one last shot because it is so affordable and conveniently close to my apartment. So far today the place is looking (and smelling) clean, most of the machines are working, and no bums in sight. It is still hot as hades, but I’ll give a neutral 3 stars. You’re safe for now, Launderland!

Anyone else wait to do laundry until you’ve gone through all your underwear?
Living in a building with only 1 washer/​drier, I like coming here to do mass laundry cleaning all at one time. Not only is it a 1 minute drive from my place, but I can get multiple loads done at once, all while playing «Angry Birds» on my iPod!
The cost of a top-​loader (with free dry included) here is cheaper than the combined cost of a wash + dry at my place. There are also side-​loading machines, but most of them are out of order. Change machine takes $ 5, $ 10, and $ 20. Put a twenty in the machine and you’ll feel like a slot winner in Reno.
Nothing fancy about this place, but the cartoon and comic characters on the wall give it some spirit.

the woman who works here during the day is HORRIBLE. i work across the street and live 2 blocks away and i drive my clothes over to the other launderland on f & 16^th because I refuse to give this woman business.
oh yeah, and today someones clothes caught on fire in the dryers. 3 fire trucks & paramedics arrived to put the fire out. i’d hate to be that customer.

Staff is kinda rude. all the time. Lots of broken machines. Little or no A/​C on hot days. Just kind of a miserable vibe. The place is somewhat clean, but dilapidated.

the attendants here are friendly and the free dry is a good deal, but in the end, it’s not worth it. my last visit occurred over a year ago. i had been going there every week, but after pulling my towels out of the dryer and noticing a row of deliberately-​placed gum wads inside the dryer, i knew this was my last trip here. ugh, who would do such a thing? i ended up going to the folsom blvd. location to rewash and continued to do my weekly laundry there until my recent move. i am so glad my new place has washers and dryers on site.

Its been a while sense I’ve had to go to one of these places… I lucked out and got an appartment that came with the machines. So when my dryer broke down I figured I would take my soaking wet clothes to the Launderland and dry them. Oh no your not, buddy. After lugging the stuff in and getting most of it in the machine an attendant told me that they don’t allow people to just dry there. What? Huh? Humm? Never heard of this. I explained my plight but was told again in a tone undeserving of someone workin’ in a laundrymat that I could not dry my stuff. «So you would rather have NO money than SOME money?» A blank stare was my answer.
I guess there is a reason for this, but I felt that after explaning my situation and the hurry I was in to avoid my clothes smelling funnier than the inside of the Launderland itself I might get some slide. No. So I will never go back there again, to wash, dry, or whatever. Everything looked old and half-​assed anyway.

My first visit to Launderland today. Top loader washers are still 2.75, but the mega front washers are now 5.50. The price of drying is included, but their policy is that you can only use their dryers if you used their washers.
Although they seem old, the washers are clean and do the job. The dryers are set to 15 minutes, but you may have to prolong the cycle since my clothes were slightly damp coming out at medium (mixed) heat for 15 minutes.
I went on a Sunday afternoon and there were plenty of carts and folding tables available. They do have dispensers for detergent, but I brought my own so I don’t know how much they charge. There is a change machine that says no 1 dollar bills, only 5’s and 10’s.
The employees pretty much themselves and there’s a nice bike shop next door, so overall it’s not a bad place.

Well, you can tell this place is rockin because I’m the second person to review the place in almost THREE YEARS.
Anyway, what can be said? The ancient dryers are free to use if you wash your clothes there. Just beware, their idea of 15 minutes varies from dryer to dryer. No biggie since they’re free.
Also, top loaders are still 2.75 and the mega front loaders are 3.75 for 33 minutes. I don’t know how much the über machines are seeing as how I don’t make that much of a mess. Hardy har har.
The place is definitely showing its age and can be nigh impossible to find a folding table at times but in a world without a washer and dryer of my own, I can’t complain too much.
I go there because it’s close to where I live, much to my chagrin.

FOR THOSE WITHOUT A W/​D OF THEIR OWN, there is Launderland. I’m lucky it is where it is. It’s so close, I just walk there.
The attendants are helpful when you need to change your paper into coin. It’s relatively clean inside, but it’s age shows. You can tell it’s been around for a few decades. It’s not dirty at all, just old. As long as the machines make my clothes clean, I don’t really care.
The «top loader» washers cost $ 2.75. That gets you 27-​minutes, if my memory serves me right. And the dryers are free! But you can only use a dryer if you’ve paid for a wash. Signs have been posted on every available surface to make sure you’re aware of this rule.
