Freeport Self Serve Car Wash

Usually it’s good and cheap. Today the southernmost stall wasn’t working, and I had no way to call the owner. No phone number is listed.

Admittedly, the timers could be longer, especially when the machine takes such a long time to switch from the various positions — each of those several second switches from wash to rinse to soap, etc, should not be counted against the time that I’ve paid for to wash my vehicle. Either the machine needs a tune up to speed it up, or the owners need to add more time to the base time.
Otherwise, it’s your standard generic self-​serve car wash with wash stalls and vacuum stations.

This is if the few self washes that does NOT leak from the ceiling attachments! That is the main reason I keep coming back– plus rates– $ 2.50 for 4 mins wash and $ 1.50 for a few mins vacuuming.
If timed right I can do a rinse, tire clean and good foam brush before my $ 2.50 for 4 mins is up. Then I keep brushing and sometimes give a good hand wash with a sponge from home using the foam. For another $ 2.50, I can rinse, get any spots I missed, and a spray wax.
Altogether, a great value (about $ 8) for a good long wash and vacuuming.

I’m one of those people who loves to keep his cars clean and I own two black ones so they get dirty and dusty fast. Since I don’t want to shell out $ 30 a week to wash both my cars I went out looking for one of the old coin style washes. Luckily one day I was out getting something for dinner and stumbled across this location.
It’s a little beat up and starting to show its age. You can tell the owner puts little to no money into it at all, but really all you need is a cover, some hoses with pressurized water, soap/​wax, and ideally a safe spot. This pretty much fits the bill across the board. I usually go during the week mid day because after work and on the weekends this little wash gets really busy. There is a coin changer on site that I have never had an issue with, and they have some basic towels/​wipes for purchase. It has vacuums around the back and when you are done cleaning up your car you can hop across the street for some good food!

Good car wash. I came on a weekday evening, so it was empty when I got there. This gave me the chance to take my sweet time washing and meticulously dry my car without feeling pressured to move. 4 cars came and went before I was done. There are 3 spots in total, so there is plenty of room. I spent 5 bucks on the wash and 1.50 on the vacuum. Use the one of the back to the right since its the one that is the strongest sucker, haha. If you get hungry, you can always get some McDonalds from next door after you’re done! Happy car washing!

Easy to use. Stalls are generally in working order. Cheap – $ 2.50 gets you 3 minutes or so to clean your ride.

Very basic, but safe and fully functional. It’s surprisingly well located in a good neighborhood, with decent restaurants nearby. Its a little on the pricey side at $ 2.50 for ~3 mins. Lacks water softener/​spot reducing setting, which would be very welcome on a hot day. Overall, I’m glad to have found this place, and I’ll continue going back for now.

Prices have gone up to $ 2.50 for 2 mins. minimum. You can add extra quarters beyond that.
The vacuums are $ 1.50 to start; I’m not sure how much time that buys you. The suction on the one I used was a little weak, even for a self-​carwash.
Overall, this place is OK. I don’t know of any alternative cheap places in the area.

Great self serve car wash. For $ 2 in quarters you get 4 minutes of wash time. Bays are tall and clean. Scrub brush is nice and foamy. Didn’t try the vacuums but there is one per bay. Extras like towels and pine tree air fresheners are also available for around $ 1.

This is the same hand-​operated jet spray and brush carwash that can be found in 10,000 places in the US. Has a coin machine that usually works, always has had soap and wax when I turned them on. $ 2 for a quick wash — probably $ 4 if you are just back from 4-​wheeling in the mud. Vacuum in the back — but I can’t recommend as good or bad.
Quarter machines for shammies and air-​fresheners. Next to Dad’s Kitchen, Yogurtopia, Oscars, and Freeport Bakery if you want to get something to eat after you suds your ride.
Super secret Unilocaler-​eyes-​only tip — if you need quarters and the machine is out or doesn’t like your wrinkled old greenback that was run through the washer — try the laundromat next door — the machine in there has never refused to cash out my bills no matter how f*ed up they were.
I always use soap then wax without «rinse» to spare a couple quarters. Cheap of me huh?
