GeekMan Computer Repair

I’ll make this easy for those of you who don’t like to read long winded reviews:
*Fair pricing, worth your money.
*He knows what he’s doing, smart guy.
*Good reviews for good reason.
*You have problem, you call Dan, problem no more.
Dan is THE MAN! My computer was loaded, I mean LOADED with all sorts of add ware, trojans, viruses etc you name it, it was a very ill laptop. I called Dan, (who is a delight to speak with, even over the phone he is kind, understanding, patient, and knowledgeable) who said he could come help the next day. The next day?! How awesome! Not next week, the next day! AND he comes to your house! No going into those awful stores with computer parts strewn everywhere that makes you feel like you’ve walked into the land of dead and unloved electronics.
He gave me a call to say he was on his way, and he arrived when he said he would, how rare these days! He dove right into checking out what was wrong, and explained everything (I am no computer whiz by far, so simple analogies made it wonderfully easy to understand what he was talking about and what the computer was trying to tell me)
Not only did he clean my laptop of all its filth, he made a special folder so I could see all the programs he downloaded, which ones did what, which ones to use and when, what to watch out for, and educated me on how it was that my laptop got so dirty in the first place.
I can’t recommend him enough, super nice guy, knows his stuff, won’t make you feel bad about your issue, full of solutions, just a great experience in general!

Dan is very knowledgeable and professional. He also works fast and explained exactly what’s going on with my computer to keep me in the loop. I trust that anytime I have computer issues, I can go to him and he will figure out the problem. I would recommend him to anyone. Thanks again Dan!

Update review as I had to have Geekman come out again to fix this PC laptop here. Everything is good now, he fixed it. The thing is that this laptop has Window 8 on it and its pretty much been a pain since the start. Always on shutdown, it says «this app is preventing shutdown». But then it would shutdown eventually so I just decided to ignore that. Well after a year of that annoying behavior, the computer basically locked up completely. The screen just was frozen and said «this app is preventing shutdown» but of course it does not say what app at all (the icon is vague too).
At first, I attempted to get help via twitter from Microsoft support. They actually do tweet back eventually. However, they linked me to a list of things to try. So, Ctrl Alt Del did nothing. Then the Windows key plus X key did nothing. There was further junk to do, but it seemed in the category of things that I could potentially do wrong and then mess the computer up more.
So, I called Geekman. He was busy since he’s good and also PCs are junk so everyone needs help. The PC laptop in question is mostly used by my husband. I have an old macbook (still works yet is over 6 years old) so set that up for him in the mean time.
Geekman basically unplugged the junk PC then took out the battery. Then he put it all back. Ta Da, all seemed fine after that. So now I know what to do. It seems to me that Windows 8 is pretty defective. Geekman also checked out some other stuff on the PC. He helped me get some sort of anti-​malware thing too. I have a few other random questions too that he answered.
I now have a gripe about Windows 8. Its not good. I personally feel the last good operating system Microsoft made was XP. Since I contacted them on twitter, they wanted me to do a survey. So I did it because «Yeah I want to give you my useless opinion». I pretty much said Windows 8 is awful and if they make Windows 9 that they should model it after Windows XP. Heh. As if they care about what I think (especially since I primarily use Apple products).
Overall, this cost $ 85. Not bad. There is a check in offer for this actually (not sure how close you need to be to check in). Geekman comes to your house to fix computer stuff. That’s cool. I like that. I do recommend him if you have a PC that is acting nutty (this applies to pretty much everyone because PCs are rotten).
Geekman is also cool because he put up with my disheveled appearance (he acted like I looked normal! but I didn’t). He also put up with listening to my wordy way of talking that includes random unrelated tangents. He just seems very patient overall. And he did not mind my dog at all (typically other worker type visitors tell me to put her away somewhere because they are scared).
Probably the PC will act like a fool again soon so I’ll call him again.
Editing to add a note that in the list of things that Microsoft support said to do, well «unplug all, remove battery, put back in, reboot» was not on the list.

I would recommend this service highly. Dan was great. He arrived on time and worked quickly. He allowed me to watch and informed me clearly what was wrong and what he was doing to correct the problem. This helped me feel educated as well as relieved that the computer was fixed.
Most importantly is the computer is running at high speed and with no glitches!

If you are like me, there are certain things (that if they break or something goes wrong) you feel helpless and or concerned when you try and find a professional to fix them because you just don’t know enough about them to determine you are not being ripped off, or to understand what needs to be fixed so you can make a comprehensive decision on a repair and the cost that comes with it.
For me one of these is computers. Besides my current computer having general problems it did not used to have, I needed to get a new computer that met the needs of the high-​end virtual/​graphic programs I am currently using, and of all the odd things my cat threw up in my computer tray about a month ago and now I had a streak down every page I printed.
I will not take your time describing the «HOURS» I spent going online trying to solve all this myself. So then I get a wonderful break, I found Dan Hall who owns Geek Man Computer Repair and in a day he comes and gets rid of all the garbage that the internet has snuck on my computer (despite Norton), reconfigures a few things and abracadabra… it is working back to capacity. He reviews my computer needs, goes with me on-​line to Dell to find me the perfect set up, and phones them and gets me even more discounts. Now to the printer problem, well evidently Dan knows about printers as well and he tells me that HP Laser printers have their drum built into the printer cartridge and each time you change the cartridge you get a new drum. Dan says the streaks I was seeing were probably burned into the drum and if I changed out the cartridge all would be well. So I followed his instructions and just like that it’s fixed.
During this process Dan not only knew what he was doing (an expert in his field), but was good enough to explain to me each item «in normal people not geek-​speak» so I could make comprehensive decisions, he is funny as all get out so he kept me laughing and in the end saved me money… So I am going to put his information out her with full confidence that I will not regret recommending him.

My neighbor built me a computer but somehow the software caused the computer to freeze after each reboot. We tried everything for at least 6 hours!
Frustrated, I did a search for computer repair and found Dan Hall (GeekMan)! After a brief chat on the phone, Dan came over and fixed the problem in less than thirty minutes. He even networked my laptop to my desktop in couple of keyboard strokes. Added an anti virus program and made my life flow much better now that I have someone reliable with awesome rates to fix all of my hardware/​software issues.
I only do Unilocal reviews if I super pissed or super pleased; guess what I am with Dan the GeekMan?

Dan was very helpful and very nice. I was so blind about computer stuff and glad that hubby found him on Unilocal.I was very happy that my laptop is free from virus now and its working perfectly. Dan is highly recommended not only he is very knowledgeable and knows what he’s doing but he also reminded me of the computer genius in Transformer!

Dan was super experienced. He showed up on time. Very reasonably priced for such a knowledgeable guy.

I contacted Dan asking for a quote for computer repair. I had diagnosed the issue but thought it required more than my skill level. Dan sent me some quick and easy tips for fixing the issue myself via email, and suggested I try that first instead of spending money unnecessarily. His advice did the trick and he saved me the cost of a house call. He could’ve easily charged me for the fix and I never would’ve known. It is nice to know there are still honest people in the world. I’ve added his phone number to my speed dial to help me with any future computer issues I may have.

Dan was the Geekman was wonderful. He arrived, diagnosed the problem with my computer and had it up and running like new in no time. If I ever in need for my computer help, Dan would be the first person I would call. I would gladly recommend him and Geekman services.

Just had Dan with GeekMan root out a very nasty virus that had gotten past all of my firewall software, and was beyond my pay-​grade to repair myself.
I contacted Dan over e-​mail, he took the time to answer all of my silly questions. Dan graciously agreed to meet me outside of my office and pick up my offending PCU, and take it with him to repair it.
Dan ended up calling me about two days before I expected him to call me with a fixed computer! He not only delivered it back to me, but came in a few bucks under his initial estimate too.
Dan also had installed some maintenance software so that I could prevent the issue from occurring again, then suggested a few other options to manage my system.
Above and beyond what I was expecting, and above and beyond the service I had in the past. Dan earned all five stars, I recoomend his service and (though I hope not to need to) I would use his service again in a heartbeat!

Dan was great to work with! He told me all the costs upfront and held to them. He even called that evening to make sure my computer was working well. Not to mention he came out the same day I called and took no time at all to diagnose and fix my troubled computer. I would highly recommend his services.
