Find a Professional Tax Preparer at H&R Block, the brand clients trust for income tax preparation. More than 50 years of tax help and expertise is just around the corner.
We had serious troubles with an ‘expert’ at H&R Block. The ‘expert’ was known to be one of their best and most experienced tax preparers — he had been with H&R block for many years. In spite of this he made a number of mistakes on our tax returns, so we were desperate for help. The tax preparer at H&R Block said he even checked with this corporate office on one of the issues, but they said the same thing he did. I easily found multiple references to the IRS Section 415 limit rules that contradicted his assertions, and several CPAs and professional accounting firms agreed with me – but still H&R Block could not seem to get the facts correct on my return. After three trips to this office and over 20 hours of waiting while the H&R Block preparer struggled with our returns, a simple trip to see a local CPA solved the problem. We were out in less than 2 hours and it cost substantially LESS there than it would have at H&R Block. If you are a small business owner like me or have any complexities in your return at all, I would caution you to consider an alternative to H&R Block. These guys wanted us to pay huge penalties we did not actually owe, redo past tax returns that were correct, and withdraw money from tax-sheltered annuities PLUS pay penalties for that — all because they did not understand basic tax law. Caveat Emptor.
