Hertz Rent A Car

Love the service at this location. Only once have I ever had a not-​perfecty-​clean vehicle, but I’ve never had a single payment issue go without attention here, even after completing the rental. Dallas and Alicia are great!

The manager, Alicia, had great customer service. Her staff was great too. I am definitely going to sign up for the Gold rewards for future rental. This car rental was paid through my car insurance (State Farm). Normally rent from Hertz the by sac state. But last week this location work perfect for me just because my car was being fixed by Cook’s collision and I could walk to get rental car.

I scheduled a rental from ¹⁰⁄₂₆ — 11/​9, no problem, the car was fine, point A to point B.
When I returned the rental on my SCHEDULED return date, the gentleman behind the counter informed me that I would be charged an additional 14 days. I contested that and handed him my paperwork, which clearly stated I was on time. He stated how weird that was and charged me the full price for the rental, I was told upon renting the vehicle that my $ 200 security deposit could be applied to the final price, apparently that wasn’t the case now.
Three days later the charge for the rental went through, a full week later and I still hadn’t been credited back my security deposit.
The first time I tried calling the rental office the phone rang, and rang, and rang…
The second time I called a gentleman answered, offered no help, took my phone number and said he would call me back, two days later and I’ve heard nothing from them.
If ever I am unfortunate to have to rent a car again, I’m sure it won’t be from this location.

I have received great customer service every time I rented at this location. My daughter and I recently rented a car to go on a college tour of CSUMB. It was a very special trip and we wanted to go in style. Alicia was wonderful and so friendly. We had a great trip and we will definitely rent again. Thank you for the great customer service Alicia!

My car was in the shop for vandalism and I needed a rental. Hertz was my only option being insured with AAA. LONG story short. I was advised to leave the rental at the collision center. I did as told. Hertz (this office specifically) left me a vm and said I needed to return the car. 1 f’en week later! I returned the call and was put on hold for a while. I hung up and decided to call the collision center instead. Was informed car had already been picked up. Called Hertz again this time with a bad attitude. Person on the other end told me the car hasn’t been return however, has information about the gas not being refueled etc. WTF? Really dude? Anyway, got all of that squared away and comes in 3 separate transactions from Hertz for 3 different amounts! There goes my precious time having to call Hertz and my credit card company to deal with Hertz staff incompetency!

One person staffing on a Monday morning. Tons of customers waiting. SLOOOW. Hey manager, add a staff person!

…I wanted to update what happened next! After picking up my car at the body shop, I was told by Hertz to leave the keys with the front desk for free pickup. On my next credit card statement, I was charged $ 165 from Hertz. When I called to ask why I was charged, I was told the car was abandoned. Really? With keys at the front desk? I asked for a supervisor, was promised a call back which never happened. Repeated the same process two more times without ever receiving a call back. I gave up. Shame on you Hertz.

I needed a rental car on June 11, 2015 after a horrible experience with a repair shop recommended by a dealer from which I bought my car.
The shop told me the car would be ready in about 3 hours. I left it a around 9:00 a.m. when 1:00 came I called. The care wasn’t ready and the shop said «it would be ready when it’s ready.» Maybe before they close, maybe not.
My plans called for having my car in the afternoon. When I called all the rental car places in the area, everyone was out. Busy weekend for rentals. TINA at Hertz took my name and said she would try and get me something – no promises. I figured there was nothing. A couple hours later she called. She was able to get me a vehicle at a reasonable rate. BILL came to pick me up to take me to the rental office.
Between TINA and BILL, I experienced something of a rarity these days.. . excellent customer service which went above and beyond. Thank you.

Beware of alicia the manager. She scammed us into signing a contract we did not agree to. We ended about paying over 500 dollars for something we didn’t agree to or even need! Just beware of anything she says because she mixes up the words and lies to you about it! I will never in my life rent a car from Hertz ever again because of how she treated us because she could have helped us resolve the issue instead of telling us to step outside and leave without explaining to us. Again please when going to this location. The manager lies and always check the contract when signing because there are a lot of people who lie to scam others! hope this was helpful

They have very bad service, once I made reservation for a car week before the pick up date, when I went to the branch she told me we don’t have that car right now then she checked the near branch if they have same size car but they don’t then she told me you can either upgrade the car size and pay more or wait at least 30 minutes to bring the car from airport branch, she let me cancel the reservation and I canceled my plans. For acknowledge my pick up time was 12 and I waited till 1:20 and there was no car, i should return the car next day which was Saturday and they closed at 12:00 so if I rent it would be less than 24 hours

I went to this place when I got in a fender-​bender & the insurance paid for this rental. Pick up went fine. Was told about the gas program, set price was $ 2.25 I think, & at the time gas prices seemed to be close to the $ 3 mark. I signed up for the program knowing if I filled up the tank before returning the vehicle, the charge wouldn’t be placed on my credit card. Was also told I could return the car at the car collision place. Cool! That’s convenient. So a week later, when I return the car, I requested a call from the collision place to let me know when the car was returned so I could contact Hertz about the charges.
Fast forward to when I’m told the car is returned. I contact Hertz to verify, they tell me the contract hasn’t been closed out yet. I asked they look into the matter & call me back. No call back. I call the next morning. I find out calls are being forwarded to the Davis location. I leave a message to have the store to call me back about my contract. By late afternoon, I still haven’t gotten a call, so I call back yet again. The store manager says she still hasn’t gotten the car back from the car repair place but promised to call me back to let me know what’s going on. No call back.
Perhaps you’re seeing a trend. If not, let me continue. I call back the next morning, calls are again being forwarded to Davis. I then explain to the girl on the other end my story & ask if she can hear my frustration. There’s no missing it. She apologizes & begins to explain that the store manager was working understaffed, saying this & that about what they have to do. I begin to thank for the fore explanation, saying it would’ve been nice to get that from the manager herself. I begin to say if that’s the reason for why I’m not getting a call back when I was promised several (at this point I think there were at least 3 – 4 times that I was told I’d get a call back when I didn’t), that really wasn’t my problem. Yes, I straight out said that to her, and I’m really not a mean person, but it had to be said. Granted it was the Davis store chick, but it was the truth. She proceeded to say she wasn’t trying to make any excuses for this store manager & reassured me she would have the store contact me about my rental. I had to explain that all I wanted was to make sure I wasn’t getting charged for any gas or anything, to which she stated she ‘guaranteed’ I wouldn’t. I was like, «how can you guarantee that if you don’t even know what the status is w/​the rental? How can you guarantee someone isn’t taking the rental for a joy-​ride, making it appear that I didn’t fill up the tank?» She just said she guaranteed that wasn’t happening. Well, I’ll believe it when I see it.
When I finally got a hold of the store manager, I requested a copy of the receipt showing no charges. She said she could email or fax it to me, so I gave her my work email. Several hours later, no email. So I had to call back yet again, & leave a message yet again. The next day when I was able to speak to the manager again, I let her know the email was never received & asked that it be faxed. I was told she would fax it by 2p that day. 4pm rolls around, no fax. When I call back AGAIN, I’m told by the store employee they don’t have faxing capabilities. I questioned why would the manager tell me it was? Another message to call me back. GRRRRR!!! Finally, after over a week of back & forth and only me following up w/​them on my contract, I’m told it’s closed out & the fax would come from the tire place across the street from them, since their fax isn’t working correctly.
Long story short, this place’s customer service was horrible! The people were nice enough, but the service expectations were far from met.

I’m giving one star only because I’ve had good experiences there in the past and two of the clerks have been really helpful. The manager on the other hand… well we’ll get to that in a minute.
So, I have a job interview in San Francisco on a Wednesday and I need to rent a car. Since I have used Hertz in the past, I go online and reserve the car on Sunday and everything goes smoothly. Fast forward to Wednesday morning. My wife and I arrive at the location at 7:30, right when they open and are promptly told there are no cars. Um, hello… do you know what a «reservation» is? I suddenly feel like I’m in a Seinfeld episode. The clerk there tries to sort things out while my wife steps outside to contact customer service. While she is outside the clerk contacts the manager and puts her on speaker phone. She states that she tried to call me last night but couldn’t reach me. So, I check my phone log and guess what, NO missed calls. After a few minutes of the clerk trying to locate another car, the manager shows up and yells at my wife for being on the phone with customer service. She then proceeds to come in and tell me that my phone number is not listed on the reservation information. Um, then how did you try and call me? She has no answer and since I’m a Gold Club Member, my information is not only on the reservation but is in your computer system.
This leads me to believe that not only does this location not care about customer service (for yelling at my wife), but doesn’t know the definition of «reservation» and most importantly, LIED to me.
Needless to say we walked out and will never be going back to Hertz. Their unprofessionalism and lack of respect is inexcusable.

½ star for effort. Never again. See my photos: the rental car they had for me was 2 years old and looked like it was someone’s personal car. Broken bumper, scratches and dings, the seats were so gross we had to put down towels to sit on them, and the tire pressure light went on within 3 miles of driving out of town. The only other car they had to choose from absolutely reeked of cigarettes. If I didn’t need a car so urgently I would have walked out and gone to another rental car agency. This was such a disappointment. Oh, and after filing a complaint I was credited a whopping $ 25 (which was took a month for a response). Another follow up complaint has been filed. We will see if they make this right. In the meantime, try a different car rental agency.

Very helpful, easy going, was helped by Dallas, he was excellent!!! Will go there again!!! It’s always stressful to have to rent a car so I appreciated the atmosphire!!! I definitely recommend this spot!!!

I called and becuase they were short staffed, their phones were forwarded to the Madison Ave. Location… A rude woman answered the phone to tell me that she cannot help me, but she could take a message for the branch that I needed. I gave her my phone number and guess who NEVER called me back?
I called Enterprise on Arden way and received MUCH better service!!!
Hertz is a joke and has no business being in… well you get the idea.

HORRIBLE customer service. Do not ever book a reservation online because you will not get that money back. I booked a car to pick up this past Friday and prepaid $ 75 and would pay the remaining $ 50 when I got there. I waited for 30 – 40 minutes for one out of the THREE Hertz associates to give me service. Mind you, my pick up time was at 4:00pm and no one spoke to me until 4:40pm, so I was so pissed and left. You can’t pick and choose who you want to give customer service to. If I could give them a ⁰⁄₅ I would. So I called the Hertz customer support to cancel my reservation and demanded for all my money to be refunded, they won’t do it until I can talk to management about why I did not rent a car. Their staff was horrible, they would not even let me know that I would be taken care of and no greet. I’m writing this all out because I have worked in customer service and if they were my employees, I’d write them up, period. I would not wish renting a car from Hertz on my worst enemy.

If I could give no stars I would. Worts place to rent a car especially if your not colored. Apparently they only hire black women here who are rude, ugly, ashy, and very disrespectful.

Very helpful and friendly staff. They are a lil short hand but I know they are doing the best they can to get me in and outta there. I was in and out in about 30 mins no more. I was in there for a replacement car because my car was in the body shop. the cars were clean and pretty much what my insurance covered. 5 doors and 5 seats. I just hand them my credit card (because they informed me that a debit card would be diged if i used that) and drivers license and few mins, i was out of there
From reading the other comments. seriously? how much cleaner do you want the car to be? Its not like you are going to keep the car forever and chances are your insurance is covering your rental. so. why the complaints?

Painfully slow and disorganized. I was there over 45 minutes before I got my car. I was not the only one waiting. Nice people but SLOW! Don’t go if you are in a rush to do anything. Oh ya, and I had a reservation and it took that long. Can only imagine someone without a reservation!
