Louie’s Restaurant & Catering

We walked in and stood at the front for about 5 minutes before having to ask if I’m supposed to seat myself.
«Oh you’re dining in?» The woman said.
Ordered a Pepsi and waiting for about 10 minutes. Two other tables got their drinks before us.
We had to ask again for the drinks. She brought them and we said thank you and she didn’t say you’re welcome.
We waited about an hour to get our food.
She never refilled the cups.
The waitress took the check book without asking if we needed change.
The broccoli beef, the beef texture was like chewing gum.
I will not be back

I was disappointed. I bought the Korean short ribs with kim chee, broccoli raw, tough scant beef. My associate ordered the curry chicken, it was OK but not much chicken and lots of celery and bell peppers. My family used to come here but i won’t.

The most plain and gross chinese food ive had. The beef and broccoli tasted like raw seafood. Just nasty

I had been going to this restaurant for over 10 years and am REALLY disappointed with its decline! The fried rice is hit or miss on flavor and so far there have been bugs on 3 separate occasions in my wanton soup! The 1^st time I called them about the bugs they apologized and asked what id like them to do. I said «nothing I just want you to be aware that this happened.» The second time it happened I called and told them and they said «sometimes the veggies don’t get washed well enough.» And again apologized and offered me a free soup. When it happened a third time (you’d think I would quit at this point but it was my husbands favorite place and wonton soup is my favorite) I called VERY angry and told them that this is happening FAR TOO MUCH to be an accident! It’s just being sloppy/​lazy/​dirty! They offered me a refund but I told them to keep their money. I wasn’t trying to get over on them. I just wanted good CLEAN food!

My family and I decided to come here and eat for the first time. Worst Chinese food ever!!! No flavor, messy portions but they serve a lot on one plate and I give them 1 star for that. We ordered beef spareribs, chicken chow mein, beef broccoli and sweet/​sour chicken. Our bill was about $ 50. Didn’t want to be rude so we packed up most of the food and took it home and let it sit in the fridge for 2 weeks. We will never come here again.

True, a possibly overzealous review based on a sole experience, but the mushroom and tofu combo did justice to every ingredient… which is rare and impressive in such parts…

The food is super greasy and tasteless. The customer service is far from great. The restaurant owner is rude! Bottom line, if you are looking for cheap chinese, go elsewhere.

I’m a long time customer and have but one question. Is there actually any chicken in your sweet and sour chicken? If so it’s impossible to find. Just saying

Has catered a number of our social events often exceeding 200. Very professional, great presentation. All of the guests enjoyed the food and reasonably priced.

Bland, flavorless food. I ordered duck and was not impressed at all. It was overcooked and hard. Quite tough. Everyone around me seemed to be regulars and the owner was so personable. He walked around the entire time and seemed genuine. It must’ve been off that day because my food was unappetizing to the point that I just ate all the soup after 10 shots of soy sauce. From the reviews I thought I would be over full. But not so. I hope to try again as every place is entitled to an off day. But Asian food never has an off day to me and I am floored that it was so not good.

My all time favorite Chinese restaurant. Haven’t found a place as good. Pretty much everything we’ve had here is tasty. Staff is always friendly. Quick service. Love me some Louie’s

Banquet room readily available with killer food. What more can you ask for?

I’ve been coming here since I worked at UCD. THE LEMON CHICKEN IS THE BEST! Sometime I stop by just for the soup which is also delicious! Never too crowded! Most orders are take-​out. They have a great dining room!

My brother & I threw a surprise birthday party luncheon for our mom’s 70^th bday at Louie’s today.
With a guest list of over 50 people, I was looking for a place where I knew the food and service would be great, would be appealing to the majority of our guests, and would not break the pocketbook.
I am very happy that we chose Louie’s! At some previous family functions, my cousins have purchased trays of chow mein (which has become a favorite of mine!) as well as other items from Louie’s. I should also add that about 11 years ago, my cousins gave their parents a 50^th wedding anniversary party at Louie’s, which was very nice (and clearly left an good impression on me!)
I could not be more pleased with how everything turned out. Gloria Louie was wonderful to work with in planning the event. She was extremely friendly, personable, helpful, and accommodating.
The luncheon was held in their banquet room, which was set up so nicely for our luncheon. Cloth tablecloths, fabric napkins, and small vases of fresh flowers in the middle of each table.
The food & beverages were brought out in very timely fashion. In the planning phase, Gloria told me we could select any dishes we’d like for the luncheon, but we opted to go with the standard banquet luncheon menu, which ended up being a hit with our guests! Many of our guests commented on how much they enjoyed the food. «Delicious, tasty, wonderful menu» were just a few of the things guests said to me. One guest told me we selected (haha!) a good variety of dishes and she particularly appreciated that none of the dishes were fried. (However, there were egg rolls — which were fried, and yummy too!)
Throughout the event, Gloria kept checking in with me to make sure we had everything we needed, and to make sure everyone was happy. The serving staff were equally attentive, refilling drinks, clearing plates, etc. The staff even packaged the remaining food (in the larger-​sized styrofoam containers) such that each container had a bit of each of the dishes — making them a nice meal to enjoy again later.
I would definitely have another event here in the future and highly recommend you check out Louie’s. If not for a hosting a special event, just go for a good lunch or dinner. Consider supporting this wonderful, locally and family owned restaurant. The owners (Gloria & Frank Louie) are fantastic!

I dropped in one day to pick up some white rice and the server charges me over $ 9.00 for white steamed rice for 4 people. It was outrageous to me that they would charge THAT MUCH for steamed rice. I voiced my unhappiness but all she could say was that it was on the menu. My parents have been in the restaurant business over 35+ yrs and have NEVER EVER charged over 1.75 for steamed rice. I WILL NEVER GO BACK TO THIS PLACE AGAIN. I was beyond dissappointed and they do not have my recommendation WHATSOEVER!
My previous visit wasn’t all that memorable from yrs ago. This was an emergency drop in cuz all i wanted was some steamed rice with my churches chicken. Come on, don’t need to break my bank with the Steamed Rice. I suppose they gotta make that money somehow with no repeat customers! Smh

I can’t rate the food because when we arrived the girls told is we could only order take out.
We wanted to dine in and I asked the girls what time the dinning room closed, she responded 8:30, I showed her my phone and the time said 8:19 and so did their clock.
They looked pissed off and told me: «if your going to eat here you need to leave by 9.»
Nope, I don’t want anybody spitting in my food.
I wanted to try the place because I was told is was good years ago, but I never got the chance.
Louie’s you get no stars but I have to give you one.

Here today. Ordered KungPao Chicken. 90% veggies. 4small pcs of chikin… small.
Place was not clean. Bathrooms filthy, staff not hygienic. Food lacked flavor. Difficult to drive to, easy to walk. Stay away. Pictures are not accurate.

Wow I really am impressed with the food quality here. This is my first time here and walking in the restaurant that looked empty at first making me second guessing myself but checking the Unilocal rating was 3 stars give me a little bit of the push to try out their food. I ordered the Louie’s deluxe fried rice and prawns with Pecan. They were both very delicious.

Every time I leave I say I’m never going to come back again. Being that this is so close to my house I always go back thinking that perhaps the previous time was just an off day for them… WRONG.
I brought a friend here for lunch. She ordered the orange chicken. There was more batter then there was chicken. The orange was very, very orange and had a syrup like consistency. The orange syrup was separate and was not cooked with the chicken. It was just odd and not very appetizing at all.
I think they make their chow mein in advance and have it sit in a container of some kind and then serve it as people order it. It was very dry, not hot but very warm and again no flavor whatsoever.
I was here for a party a few years ago and we sat in their room which you can reserve. Every single dish we ordered was perfect! Again, I don’t know why some days are just worse than others. It is as if they have a different cook every day.
No mas for me!

My husband was in the mood for Chinese food and suggested Louie’s. He hadn’t been there for years, but remembered that it was consistently good and well-​priced. The restaurant looked like it had been remodeled recently and was very clean. I have to admit that I’m not a huge fan of Chinese food, but I would go back to Louie’s just for their salt baked drumettes — so crispy, yet juicy, and not too salty. I could eat probably a thousand of them.
Everything was tasty and fresh and the service was very good. We ordered an appetizer, two entrees, steamed rice, and hot tea for ~$ 26 including tax, plus we had lots of leftovers.
